During the week of Labor Day my family and I vacationed in Ocean Grove, NJ for five days. Late one…read moreevening while sitting out on our hotel room's porch listening to the ocean waves, I very suddenly felt a foreign object in my right eye. Expecting that it was probably sand from my hair or a towel draped over the balcony above, I proceeded to try to wash it out with all the usual methods, but to no avail. The object became trapped far under my upper eye lid and would not come out. That evening I could not sleep well, as the pain of whatever the object was continued to wake me up throughout the night. When morning came and the object had still not cleared itself from my eye, I knew I needed to go somewhere for help, as this had happened many years prior. I considered the local urgent care, but felt they might not have the necessary expertise for an eye emergency. As such, I looked up local optometrists, as my own optometrist back home had once before removed some basement dirt from my eye. Del Negro and Senft in Neptune City was only a few minutes drive and opened the earliest in the morning of the local optometrists, so I decided to call them. The lady who answered the phone was very understanding and kind enough to offer to get me in right away. After arriving and filling out the necessary paperwork, I was taken back by a doctor's assistant and seen by Dr. Wiedeman minutes later. Dr. Wiedeman quickly determined the location of the embedded object, apparently a small glass-like piece of sand, and went ahead to remove it from my upper eye lid. This of course is no easy task, especially as I do not wear contacts and have never been comfortable with anything or anyone touching my eyes, and also, as Del Negro and Senft is not my regular optometrist and I had never been there before. After removing the object, Dr. Wiedeman also took time to talk to me about my mild dry-eye syndrome and to suggested methods of coping with it. I am very grateful to Dr. Wiedeman and the staff of Del Negro and Senft for getting me in so quickly and taking the time to help. They definitely saved my vacation (and my family's) from becoming quite unpleasant. My wife and I were even able to salvage the day and proceed down to Cape May for the afternoon, which had been our plan prior to the object becoming lodged in my eye. Were I living on the upper part of the Jersey Shore, I would be very pleased to have Del Negro and Senft as my eye doctors. Thank you!

I had to travel one hour for a new fitting whereas I am blind in one eye was not the easiest thing to do. They could not accommodate me in any of their closer offices as they advertise. I left the lens that does not work with them as I cannot use it. I have been told now that my new Contact Lens which is going to be ghastly looking is ready but only after many phone calls but you can't get through to anyone and three emails and they told me I have to leave my Contact Lens which I did they don't have any communication with each other and they are very unprofessional.

I am not supposed to pay a co-pay on annual exams but I could not finish their electronic paperwork without paying one. I contacted the billing department *that day* to fix the issue: I was wrongfully and forcefully charged a co-pay and I wanted my money back. The billing department told me to wait for the EOB and they will issue the refund. I get my EOB, they billed it as a MEDICAL visit and not ANNUAL. Which means SOMEONE WENT IN AND CHANGED MY REASON FOR VISITING, WHICH IS ****ILLEGAL****. My mother, who has the same insurance and went to the same office and had the exact same exam only a couple of days later, was billed for an ANNUAL. After months of going back and forth and arguing with the billing department, I was told to "call back mid-March." Here we are! I call them today, over THREE MONTHS after my visit, and they tell me that my visit was deemed "medical," because the doctor "diagnosed [me] with dry eyes." THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I AM HEARING THIS. "DRY EYES" WAS NOT MY REASON FOR VISITING. THE DOCTOR DID NOT TELL ME I HAD "DRY EYES," NOR DID SHE PRESCRIBE ANYTHING FOR "DRY EYES." This is a steaming load of B.S! They're literally making up to steal and keep my co-pay and teach me a lesson for complaining and wanting my money back. What they are doing is ILLEGAL and have half a mind to contact a lawyer. *** DO NOT GO HERE ***

I recently visited Invision Eye Care for what I believed would be a simple eyeglass exam, only to…read morewalk away feeling confused, frustrated, and completely disrespected by both the front-desk staff and the office manager. What happened: After eight months of recovering from retinal detachment surgery, my prescription had changed twice. I finally secured new insurance that would cover my eye exams--but it doesn't kick in until May 1st. I scheduled an appointment specifically for an eyeglass exam only and made it clear at check-in that I could not afford the (separate) contact lens exam until after May 1st. Unbeknownst to me, the doctor proceeded to perform both the eyeglass and contact-lens exams. I thought she was merely "tweaking" my existing contact prescription, so I didn't question it. The next day, I received a call from Susan ( who said she was the office manager ) at Invision telling me I owed $85 for the contact exam I had explicitly asked not to have. When I explained that I had not authorized or even realized a second exam was done, she brusquely replied, "Why didn't you stop the doctor?" and insisted I return the trial contacts. I then spoke with Niessa, the office manager, hoping for some understanding or compromise. Instead, she was condescending and rude--telling me it was entirely my fault for allowing the exam and that I must pay both charges. Why this matters: Lack of clear communication. I explicitly declined the contact-lens exam, yet no one bothered to confirm with me when the doctor performed it. Unprofessional customer service. Both Susan and Niessa refused to listen or offer any courtesy goodwill. Rather than resolving a genuine misunderstanding, they treated me like I was the problem. Lost trust (and a patient). Over an $85 fee, Invision Eye Care has now lost my future business--along with the cataract appointment I had already scheduled at that office. Bottom line: I understand policies exist, but a little empathy and clear communication go a long way. I left feeling like I wasn't respected as a patient or even a customer. Until Invision trains their staff to listen first and assume good faith, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend them.
