They told me progressive lenses would be the perfect fit for me and that I would no longer need to take off my glasses to read. They also was tried to sell me computer glasses! I told them that I don't want scratch resistance; but after I got home I noticed that I got billed for that. I had to call the store and go back to get a refund. I was all excited when I picked up my new glasses. I was just handed the glasses and was not fitted; the tech had their dinner in front of them and seemed too busy to help. I tried it for about a week and hated my new glasses. The progressive part was useless and got me very dizzy. I went back and was told that they just need to be fitted. I tried it for about another week and with the same problems. They were useless to read with. I spent good $$$ for these progressive lenses. One problem I had was watching tv while reclining on the couch or laying in bed; everything was blurry and was getting a stiff neck to make it clear. So I go back to the store and told about my tv problem and the tech said "You can't wear your new glasses while watching tv reclining or in bed". I then asked how do I watch tv; she had no answer! I always needed glasses to watch TV. They ended up giving me a new basic lenses without the progressive; but was told there was no refund! The basic lenses would of been covered by my insurance. I never heard of progressive lenses before; wish I researched them before I went. I think I know more now then the techs at the store. I was never told about different types/sizes of progressive lenses. Wasted a ton of my time and I will never go back!!! UPDATE: The day after I did the customer review on their website; I get a call from them apologizing and they would refund me the $175 extra I paid for the progressive lenses. Why couldn't they just do this the first time?

Good: Location is convenient…read moreOptometrist is excellent Place is very clean Bad: It is very inefficient It should not take more than an hour to get the prescription when you show up ten minutes before your appointment. Ugly: Glasses are very expensive. You can get glasses for 1/4 the price at Costco. Sales people are very aggressive. Overall, go there for the eye doctor only.

Totally acceptable chain store* to pick up glasses/contacts, with the usual upsell gimmicks…read more So it had been forever and a day since I had a pair of new glasses, and having the worlds most super generic, yet incredibly comprehensive eye insurance (thanks hospital employee life), I was urged to visit this generic store..via the aforementioned generic insurance companies bland website. Are you sensing a trend yet. Not finding any independent optometrists in my new area, I let out an audible sigh and resigned myself to my new suburban fate. Literally every other chain eye store (there are quite a few of them around, all having the same name of course), had a few weeks wait except for this one so, I made an appointment. This of course was quickly cancelled due to a snow storm and rescheduled for two days later...wait do you think the other chain stores had open slots they were holding, and I might have been able to to go to an even closer one? oh well. I went in for my eye exam and glasses/contact fitting, which of course cost so much more than I remember: "Oh yes, your insurance covers "normal" contact fittings for 40$, however "disposable" contact fittings are 300 but don't worry, you get it for 182" - who uses glass contacts these days? This always has felt like a giant scam to me but again, whatever. Expensive script(s) in hand, I went up to the nice enough sales folks in the chain store who proceeded to find glasses to fit my giant head**. Pair secured, we sat down to check out and I legit saw the nice man's eyes go wide. "Oh what wonderful insurance you have". My glasses then went from ~180$ to ~300$ and now included blue light reflective ultraluxe x-ray vision addons...to which I asked "why" and had all of those fun features removed. I will miss the ability to see though walls, but let me tell you the pair I have work great at night none the less. So yea. Go in with the expectation that you will spend more than you planned on (amazing insurance or not) and that they will 100% try to upsell you on everything. If you're cool with that, then you can certainly get a nice a pair of glasses here and they will be ready to go in an hour or so. _____ *The Doc in the back ran an independent practice and was very very nice. **My mom legit calls me Mr. Met, and will send me GIFs of Mr. Met out of the blue with zero context and zero follow up. Thanks Mom.

He sits with you , does not rush you and explains everything about all the results and what's going on with your eyes. The staff absolutely wonderful. I have been coming here about three or four years. And last year I finally gave up going to my "regular " optometrist in addition. I feel like I get a better exam and the doctor amazingly enough actually knows my history. And I don't care if it's a great memory or if he actually took the time just to read through my chart before I walked in. Most doctors do not do that. And I would like to shout out specifically , Michelle who helped me with my glasses and is so sweet , friendly , extremely knowledgeable... Just fantastic. If you are considering going someplace for your eye exam or need new glasses , I would definitely go and check out the Holmdel location. Also , if you don't have eye coverage , definitely go there. They always have a special. You can get a free eye exam and two pairs of glasses for under a hundred dollars.

Despite having a 9:30 appointment and being the only customer in the store, I was asked, "How can I help you?", which gave the impression that I had walked in by mistake. I have nothing but praise for them. This past visit I was at the front desk to pay my copay, asked if they could use my card on file and they said they couldn't they needed the physical card. I off hand mentioned I don't have it, I left it in my room, and I should get it. I used a different card and then began leaving. My ride told me they were delayed as I opened the door so I opted to sit in the office to wait by the door. What happened next leads me to believe that they thought I left. After one of the front desk members received a phone call from a patient they hung up, and began speaking negatively about said patient, which I hate to say I have heard before from the front desk. Then they began on myself, saying "and this one saying how he can't find his card in his filthy room, you're a grown a$$ man with gray hair, why do I have to hear that." So at this point I sat up straighter and I believe one of them noticed me as the conversation shifted. When my ride arrived I simply went up to the front desk, told them I will not be returning, and that if they are going to talk about someone they should make sure they are not in the room first, and then left. So if you go to Opthalmic Physicians of Monmouth, just know that the front desk WILL be speaking negatively about you. I am disappointed in the lack of professionalism, I understand everyone can have a hard day and express frustration however this is a pattern I have noticed from the front desk.

WARNING, do not pay if there is a discrepancy because you will only get a credit that must be used in 30 days. It is their policy not to make right the equipment failure. No "goodwill came my way." Now I'm forced to spend money I don't have and just be grateful I didn't use a debit card to put my checking short. The manager was called and had no empathy, just said sorry, nothing I can do. Most of us shop here because we need to save and hope for a chance to own something we can't afford from stores. Some of TJ MAxx shirts are not much more than what Goodwill charges. Certainly not 39.99. So Goodwill, reconsider your policy and in the very least, get equipment that works for your hardworking clientele.
