A low rent, ghettofied, wanna be version of Costco...... Filled with the walking wounded this location is short on service,selection and coherent management. Actually quite apt for the surroundings. BJ's as with largely all membership clubs makes their profit on memberships with a minimal markup on goods but what serperates them is selection,freshness,customer service and peripheral services all of which BJ's rank last in. Spend the extra dollars,drive those extra miles and just sign up at Costco and you'll see the difference while enjoying the luxury of not having to look over your shoulder in the parking lot. Want to give BJS DELI DEPARTMENT less than one star. Don't expect your order to be ready when you get email confirmation, expect nasty women behind the deli counter! This is probably the fifth time having issues with orders not being ready after email notification that is ready for pickup. Once my order went missing???? I have complained in store management and now to corporate. Thank you to women working today, I canceled my membership and receiving $117.29 refund. If this is the workforce for BJS, corporate better rethink hiring practices or give some customer relations training! Wow! So sad! read more

BJ's is a cross between Costco and your standard supermarket. I have been fortunate to enjoy their house brand items that I have purchased Their lettuce/vegetable selection is very good and I think their prices are slightly lower. Their frozen food section, especially their appetizers and prepared foods selection is tremendous. Shopping for a Super Bowl party here is fun because of the variety of frozen appetizers. Like Costco there are just some things that aren't worth buying there....watch your prices and roll. Neither BJ's by me have gasoline pumps. I have had my propane filled at the North Brunswick location and they have the best price going. Like Costco there is a membership fee, keep your eyes open on Groupon as they often have free 3 month trials. Happy shopping! read more

If your havin' food problems, I feel bad for you son. They got bulk items, so it shouldn't be one. Seriously though, they have tons of items in bulk. There's produce, dry food, electronics, a deli counter, and tons of other items you can purchase. It does get a bit busy around the weekend so if you don't want to wait in lines try to go early in the day. The employees are fairly nice and helpful. And the store itself is pretty clen. You cannot get a cart inside thoug so make sure you grab one from outside. ...But we all know you go for the samples. read more

Profiled in this store when looking for gift cards. A guy in a suit and a female associate came over pretending to be ready to help but not knowing what merchandise we were looking for. Me being a good customer asked him about the gift cards which he knew nothing about. He then proceeded to ask my friend and I if we just came into the store. It's sad he didn't remember us walking by him 2 minutes prior while they sat on the patio furniture when we were looking for someone to help us instead of working. It's also a shame, since he pretended he was a manager (I'm not sure this was true). Nonetheless, they don't have as much in stock as the BJ's in Edison. I came in prepared to buy a membership as my friend had had great experiences but after our issue today I am deeply disappointed and will check out Sam's Club or Costco. read more

This review is mainly for the bakery dep't. Never really had a complaint about this specific BJ's, except for one time, not being able to get help from anyone on the floor. Every person had an excuse, including the very young manager for that day. Went to the Brooklyn BJ's and they were more than happy to help me with this specific large item that I needed. But back to the bakery department. Last weekend I ordered two 1/4 size photo cakes for a graduation and birthday. Not only were they delicious, but they were beautiful, both photo and writing on the cakes. They were very impressive and both recipients of the cakes were extremely happy! I love places that sells stuff in bulks! BJs, Costco, Sams Club, etc. This BJs is brand spanking new! They practically knocked down my favorite movie theatre to build this BJs! Ok, they did Knock it down to the ground! I was soo upset at first, but then when I found out they were building BJs, Well, its well worth it. The place is less crowded thats for sure. The parking lot is like a parking lot for a sports stadium. HUGE! I love their wide variety of products. Loving the meat section! They have my favorite yogurt of Chobani and Fage! When my parents left the big city for the boonies (as I affectionately refer to NJ), we had a major discovery time in our lives. This discovery was the crazy world of wholesale/bulk shopping. We started at Costco, but recently, my folks switched over to BJ's, and that has been a fantastically awesome idea. Less crowded, with better products and prices, BJ's is clearly the superior older brother to Costco. Plus, it's way more convenient for us (not for everyone, obvs). However, beware that not all that you see is worth it there....many things are cheaper at Wegman's or other local supermarkets. My latest favorite purchase though? Carvel ice cream cake to feed 20 people, at the low price of $20.99. Happy birthday indeed. read more

BJ'S Wholesale club has the worst deli service. Numerous people have complained about the poorly manned station, but service continues to lack the service BJ'S patrons desperately need. Nice BJ's. Depending on the day and time of day it can get a bit crowded. Don't go on weekends if you don't like crowds. I'm not a fan of how hey sell one brand of eggs... Two dozens packs plastic wrapped together so you can't check the eggs. Haven't had many issues with them though. I don't like how sometimes I cannot find coupon items. I feel like when there are coupons for some things they move them. Gets a tad annoying! There is a super sweet cart boy who is always willing to help unpack your cart and make small talk with you. What can I really say about this place but it has gone downhill big-time. It is filthy dirty and when you open up the refrigerators they're even dirtier. Try and get help it's nearly impossible. This place doesn't even compare to Costco. Costco gets it right and that is where my membership will stay. The check out lines are long and painful experiences. The clientele at this place definitely are lower class and lacking manners. Out of control kids running around and their ill mannered parental units. The selections are fair and usually good but try finding them one week,they are in one spot and then they move them to another spot. It certainly is a game of hide and seek trying to find items at this place. They definitely do not have good management in this location and the workers are not trained too well. I'm coming back to Costco because they get it right; they're cleaner, have better quality, better selections and nicer clientele. read more

Never any regular cashiers open. Only self checkout. There are plenty of employees standing in front watching everyone else do their jobs. Only come over when you have a problem scanning. The store itself is the same as all others. My issue is with the optical department. Walked in to ask a question and the rudest woman only had time to tell me she was closed in that department (even though she was behind the counter chatting with someone) and when I told her I had to just ask a quick question I got a dirty look and was told too bad. Get ready to wait, this bjs boasts some of the most obscene lines I have ever seen in any store. They have great cold cuts, but good luck getting any because there is always 47,000 numbers before you and one person working. They have great selections of meat, they usually have a four pack of New York strip steaks for about $25, which Is why I end up going in the first place. Their brand coffee is actually really good and super cheap it's 9.99 for a huge bag, I guess 3lbs. But I suppose all of this is fairly typical to every bjs. read more

I came to go shopping for my 72 year old neighbor that has no family and can't walk, no aide because he is stubborn and won't get one and no help from anyone. I do his shopping for him and buy in bulk to last him a few weeks - I came at 8:00 like I have done before and explained the situation and they have always allowed me in - a man named Scott at the door today refused to allow me in to shop and said my neighbor had to be with me I said he can't walk I will get him on the phone for you. He refused! Talked to me terrible was so rude and arrogant and when I told him I would complain to corporate he told me he didn't care. He is really rude and in compassionate. I told him I have to go to work and cannot wait until regular hours and by the time I get off of work they're closed. He did not care did not want to hear it. I watched from my car them allow plenty of people under 60 in the doors. Shame on this SCOTT! He needs training in Customer service. There was not a big line where he couldn't let me in to get my poor elderly neighbor his food. Now I don't know the next time I will be able to get here. I understand the need for policies but sometimes you can stretch the rules under certain circumstances. There is a Costco close by to me, but since BJ's has better prices and has 3 month free trial memberships all the time, I figured I'd go. For items like beverages, diapers, baby wipes and deodorant (got a 4 pack for 6 and change), you can't beat the price. If I bought deodorant at any supermarket or CVS, I'm looking at close to 4 dollars just for one, so this a great bargain. They have a great meat section so we bought some steaksl and clam chowder from the seafood section which ranks up there as one of the best clam chowders I've ever eaten. I recommend you go in knowing how much stuff costs elsewhere because I saw numerous items that were overpriced and you can get cheaper other places. They had books for about 9 dollars or so off the cover price, but you could probably buy it used or cheaper on Ebay or Amazon. There's some stuff I think that is just retarded to buy in bulk, like junk food, unless you want to gain 20 pounds. They have a self checkout line which helps too and the parking was fine. read more

I just had one of the worst customer services and that too - at BJs! The lady at the checkout was actually nice - when I mentioned that the shirt had scanned at 14.99(the original price) and that it was on sale, she was willing to get a price check on it. After that, what I saw and experienced was one of the worst attitudes I've ever seen in a store! The guy at the supervisor desk came over, said I had to go get the price sign to confirm the price. I walked over to the clothing section, and was followed by another 'supervisor'(?) who was not wearing a BJs vest - I had no way of identifying who he was. Long story short, even after he got the sign, he refused to check it up properly or identify which shirt it referred to. Instead he started commenting that the sign was not clear, the shirt label didn't mention what kind of shirt it was - it was ridiculous! It's his job to make things clear, and if their signs cannot be deciphered by the employees, how can customers do so? Am surprised that BJs does not train their employees to assist customers better and be friendlier. read more
