I'll start with what happened to Radio Shacks in general, and then get on to what's wrong with this…read moreparticular Radio Shack. Radio Shack started out as a supply-and-advice center for very serious electronic hobbyists. It could get you parts, and you could usually run into the local fanatic about small electrics and electronics behind the desk who would steer you towards the right solution to your technical problems. There were a lot of ham operators and early solid state enthusiasts among the dedicated clientele. Gradually it became the place to go to get both the electrical part you needed AND advice about more mundane things, like how to swap out plugs or install your own TV antenna, and Radio Shack established its rep as the place for "regular" people, not just DIY/hobbyist types, to go. You could get odd-sized batteries and still get the excellent advice. Then Radio Shack started moving into what I'd call low-end retail electronics. You could buy a TV there, not just the parts to fix one (which you can't do anymore). Then home computers, for a while. And a VCR. And so forth, as each new generation of equipment which first required extra help and explanations came along. And while they never grew to the Best Buy level, since the footprint of their typical "shack" was small, they continued to keep a reputation as the place you could go to for decent quick help with solving a particular problem with your electron-powered device. And then came the cell phone. Now, Radio Shack has devolved to the point where they're essentially a cell-phone advice-and-sales place that still stocks a lot of other stuff. The employees get trained on how to swap out your number and get you up and running on your cell phone, and they seem to specialize in the clients who are accustomed to coming there and maybe not so much directly to a single-carrier cell phone store. I know this because I've been waiting on getting help at several Radio Shack locations for years now, listening to Joe Rotaryphone have the cell phone explained to him by the staff, while I'm trying to find where they left the inverters and soldering wire. And along the way, they've dropped training their employees about anything else. The local nerd patrol have found their skills are more marketable and appreciated elsewhere, so your friendly neighborhood smart-electronics-self-trained-geek no longer wants to work here. So you get run in the mill retail clerks who are well trained and versed on the cell phone thing but not about anything else. Which brings me to this location. While I've noticed the above about many Radio Shack locations over the years, this one has been particularly bad with respect to the following. * The clerks don't know their own stock. It's not just that they don't know what it is I'm talking about when I come in and talk about some basic item (and I'm not even talking diodes, I'm talking digital thermometers and rheostats and the like), they don't _even know what's in their store_. * On three of the past five occasions I've come to this location, they have had the item I wanted to buy _mispriced_ on the shelf, and then refused to honor the "marked" price on the shelf. Their POS database is king, I suppose, but this is either sloppy or dishonest or a little bit of both. * They DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE BASICS OF ELECTRICITY. I could go into detail here, but I'm sure you don't care for the purposes of this review. But by way of a simple example, I recently had a clerk pull out a lithium and a nicad battery (they were low on stock on the former) and claim I could mix them in the same device. (Don't try at home.) I had one who was utterly unclear about the basic concept behind surge protection. I had another who did _not understand the difference between switched and unswitched_. So what's the point of coming in here? I have to find everything myself, they don't understand what they've got, and three quarters of the time they want to order something specific I want out of a catalog. YO, I CAN SURF THE WEB, DUDES, and buy on-line myself. I will say the staff here have always been friendly, prompt (barring the odd cellphone sale to Joe Rotaryphone), and willing to help (if utterly unable) but I'm at my end with the Shack. I will probably stop in occasionally for the item I have to have now that I can find and understand how to use myself, but I have no need for a cell phone and if I did I'd be smart enough to go to a cell phone carrier after researching it in advance. I do not rant. It's just a sad coda on a long, long relationship with the Shack and writing this review is part of my process. I have moved on to the fifth stage, acceptance, here, and that's all good.

This place feels like what I remember KMart being like before it started to really go down hill…read more It's not a bad place, but the parking lot pretty much is. They tend to have what you order online, but when you go inside to pick up because they decided that day that they're either understaffed or don't feel like bringing it out to your car, you realize that this place is a bit disorganized. Returns checkout where they tell you to go has two sets of registers... one for returns and another for order pickup & registry. They'll just close the order pickup one and then not tell you... they'll pretend that the register isn't there and that you're not standing in front of it because you read the signs. Then employees will come and ignore you... if you're trans, they'll even misgender you despite a transman working there too... well, whatever... that's the area, I guess. Speaking of the area, I parked my car in the "pick up area" because they said they weren't coming out because of "inclement weather" while it wasn't that cold, not snowing, not raining, not even windy, just overcast... they were just understaffed and didn't bother to mention it while you placed the order. So then I dealt with the rest of it when you went inside... and you realized that the entire returns area is just a complete mess with no lane boundaries.. and just walking around shopping carts. The neighborhood seems to be taking a downward turn because as I come out of my car to go inside, two high school kids come up and ask if I wanted to buy candy for their high school... this is the kind of 3rd world crap I'd deal with if I went to my father's home country of the Dominican Republic where they try to make you buy Chiclets gum you don't want. I used to get pick up orders here instead of Clifton Park where I lived because they'd actually have stuff here I wanted to get vs Clifton Park. But I'm a bit done with Target now. Between that experience and the one where I went down the road to Cohoes and they gave me all dented food and some expired products, this is about what KMart stared becoming in the 90s near me... just people not caring and disorganization. I hate going to the returns counter and next time I have that start of an experience, I'll just cancel the order and let you all put the food back. The area just seems like it's going down hill and it's probably not just the Target, but even Papa Johns on the other side of the lot feels like you walked into a bad part of town and everyone's just looking for a fight.... There are better places to go.

Target Drive up/Pick up 5 plus stars…read more Due to an injury, I have been using Target Drive Up pickup, and I am amazed how efficient the service is. It is a well thought out process that benefits the customer. It has been a convenient, huge time saver for me. First, shopping in the Target App for groceries and other items is easy. Items can be removed from your cart. Toiletries, clothing, toys, books etc. are also available for drive up. The app even lets you know if there is a special offer on the item. AND I get 5% off everything by using my Target charge card which is on file. Second and most importantly, drive up pickup is whenever time during open hours that you want to pick up! This differs from the set time frame given by Hannaford and other supermarkets. Consequently, it is more convenient and good for busy individuals. Frozen and perishable food items are separated and held for you in appropriate spaces. Process all on Target App: 1. You let them know when you are in your way in app. You have been notified that your order is ready for pick up. 2. You park in a designated spot in parking lot and let them know spot number. 3. They know make of car because you told them. 4. They ask where you would like groceries to be placed - back seat, trunk, hatchback etc. 5. Someone comes out in a few minutes, seems almost immediately. 6. You show number of your order in app. 7. Groceries are put in your car and off you go! Everything is packed well. Substitutions can be made for out of stock items or you are not charged. Life changer for many including for those who work and/or who have young children.

I made a payment on line and it accidentally populated the wrong credit card so it came up as a NSF. Well I called this location to rectify it and they kept saying..."come to the store". I explained that it is out of my way and they kept saying no way. One night the manager got on and right away he had an attitude. He even accused me of fraud. Then he hung up on me. Seriously asshole? I had (noticed I use the word had) been a good customer for years and never missed a payment. So I got the regional manager to call me who was super nice and got me in touch with this other guy Tom at this store who has been absolutely pleasant to work with. Thank god for this guy. He was able to make the necessary adjustments over the phone (hu imagine that) and my account was restore back to normal. Never ever again will I use this location.

I have never had such a bad experience in my life. I had rented an LG washer and dryer set, and…read morewaited 4 days for delivery, and then 3 days after receiving the machines; the dryer had stopped drying my clothes. I had called and spoke to Craig (the manager) and he said that he will have some techs come to check it out. So I waited 4 days for the techs to come, and they had told me that it was a ventilation problem with the dryer hose. So I went to home Depot and purchased a new dryer hose, and adjusted it to the dryer ;afterwards I had put a load in to test out, and of course, it didn't dry my clothes. So I called to speak to Craig again, and he said that maybe I have an electrical problem, and that if my electricity was normal then he would order me a new dryer. So I had my landlord test the voltage of the dryer outlet, and there wasn't any problems with the electricity. So I called Craig to let him him know that there wasn't a problem with the electricity, and he said that I will get a replacement in a few days. So then in like 5 more days while my husband was home and I wasn't ; they had brought us a loaner dryer, and I was angry because I was told that I would be receiving a new dryer, and not a used loaner. The used loaner dryer wasn't even worth the value of my rented dryer, and it was destroying our clothes. So when I went to make my next monthly payment, I had asked if I could get a discount for the inconvenience, and that's when they said that that they would send me a new dryer, so then I waited two weeks for a new dryer, and they brought a dryer to my house, and had my husband sign some paperwork about the servicing of a dryer, and didn't supply him a copy of what he signed, and guess what! The supposed new dryer isn't drying my clothes. So I am highly upset, and no longer wish to conduct business with them. I still never got that discount and I received a big electric bill, and paid for non working machines.

I called the store on my way over (10 mins away) and got a super nice helpful girl named Megan( spelling ). I called her back and she walked me through how to do it via the app. I told him and he did it. It was all set by the time I arrived. When I arrived she walked right up to me and I could tell she knew who I was. The store was busy but I was helped in less then 5 minutes and greeted right away by her. I confirmed before I arrived the phone I wanted was in stock. I was in and out in under 20 minutes. She was helpful, professional, kind, smart, and personable. I HATE change. I will use my phone till it does not work. She didn't pressure me in to anything else. She made the experience so easy and pleasant. I have SO much on my old phone the wait time said 3 hours to transfer everything. She offered for me to stay there when it transferred bc I told her I probably would need help setting up my phone. I had a baby shower to attend so I decided to leave and I was able to do the rest myself. But I felt like I could go back if needed. Everyone at the store was nice and friendly. But Megan who helped me was so awesome! I hope I'm spelling her name right. She has ringlet curls. And was the only female working that day. If you want someone not pushy, who knows what they are talking about, and can you get in and out fast but also willing to spend the time helping you she is your girl! For reference I work for a large nation wide company that puts up 5G towers. Including T-Mobile. If I could steal her to work for us I would haha!
