The beautiful scenery at Black Bear RV Park
    Kim R.

So, where do I start? The beginning I guess! (It's a very good place to start,,,my sound of music quote,,,ok...) My family and I arrived into the McCall area in the first week of July. I called the Black Bear RV park, as it was my final call of desperation, to find a place for us to stay. Stacy was the ONLY person that I called that would even take the time to hear me out for our long stay request. EVERYOTHER PARK in the area, either didnt even bother to return my call OR they cut me off mid sentence to say they were booked. Stacy may have been booked, but she took the time to make a schedule of sites that we could stay in, even though a bit of moving around was required. It was such a relief to speak to someone who treated me as a person, not just a 'booking'!!! Then once we arrived, it just got better. Everyday, the staff of the park was either out making their rounds for daily trash collection, pumping your septic, cleaning the restrooms, laundry facilities and updating the parks playground area, community fireplace, landscaping, etc. ALL while having a smile on their face. I don't think that we spoke with anyone there, whether it be Jeremy, Stacy, their staff and family when they weren't smiling, laughing and just treating you like you've been friends forever. All summer kids were playing in the park "living their best life" without worry, something as a parent I would tell you made our time there that much more enjoyable. The park's location is close to all the town of McCall has to offer: recreation, shopping, lake, you name it. It was the perfect place for us to stay while getting acclimated to our new surroundings. I really enjoyed the scenery and drinking my morning coffee with the resident Deer who came through the park every morning. We stayed at the park until Sept. and leaving was almost like moving out of a favorite neighborhood you had been in all your life....having to say goodbye to 'old friends'. Sooooo, with all this being said,,, I would tell you that if you would like to stay at a place whether it be long term while you relocate (like us) or just for a quick get-a-way from your daily grind, Black Bear RV Park is the place to go!!! You will be glad you stayed. You may arrive a 'stranger' but you will leave as part of the Black Bear Family.

Stacy, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our beautiful site right along the edge of the meadow.

Staff collects trash every morning and also will refill propane tanks for you if you leave the tank out, you just have to pay for the propane! We chose to get a group site as there were 3 groups in our party. The group site consisted of 4 sites forming a box around shared grass (shown in photo). Full hookups including a direct dump spot on your site! There are plenty of solo sites which each have their own grass patch (pro tip - sites around spot 77 offer a view of the river!). super dog friendly with stations throughout the park for bags and waste trash cans. The main lobby has free popcorn available for self serve. Very nice pool, hot tub and sauna, as well as a mini fitness area and showers located to the left of the lobby. 8pm-10pm is reserved for adults only. Bathrooms were literally the nicest i have ever seen (super clean!) with each private stall having a shower, sink, toilet and complimentary bathmats. bathmats only ran out once in the 4 times i used the shower. There is also access to the river from the campsites and areas for fly fishing! Full time residents stay here as well :) Overall we really enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay again!

The staff makes sure you are okay to set up and stay to answer any questions. The spaces are spread out enough to give you enough space between sites and we loved the group site of four! The common grass area in the middle was ideal to gather around and let our dogs hang out (on leashes). It was like our own little camping area. The bathrooms were the best I've ever seen camping! Individual bathrooms with showers equipped with bath mats! Very clean and the water pressure was excellent! 6 bathrooms in our area with the laundry room. A short walk from our camp site. The main check-in area had a club house with a pool/spa (adults only 18 and up from 8-10pm) with a lounge. They had some entertainment at nights (scheduled). Free popped popcorn all day, help yourself which was just like what you get at the movies - yum! RV Park is dog friendly and has a dog park and has dog areas and poop bags/dispensers thought out the park. It is close to the river so some spots have a river view and you are able to walk to the river and fish. Really loved our stay and will be back next year! Highly recommended!

I took my 14 year old son Isky on this trip and I knew it was going to be special, but I never anticipated anything this sublime. You are being guided through true wilderness in the high desert. Glorious dry sunshine along a pristine river, chock full of excellent, thrilling rapids, surrounded by mountains, fresh air and that occasional wild life spotting (in our case, a bear, 2 bald eagles, mountain goats, one small bobcat, and countless fish). Jarrett has assembled an A-team of guides that go above and beyond with smart, responsible mentorship, showing you the ropes, educating you with stories of the land (geography and history) and they are very interesting too. Mike is a super star, ex-navy pilot with an infectious energy and smile; Ty is a smart, super friendly Mechanical Engineering student from Arkansas, Rylee is a wildlife and animal wrangling expert who can catch and clean a fish faster than anyone, Leia rounds out the group making the everyone in the group feel taken care of and is always there to help you whether your gearing up, hungry, or just have a question about anything. Shout out to Loren (Jarrod's wife and partner) for preparing a virtual gourmet feast every day. There are no words to describe just how much effort and artistry goes into to the food prep. You will eat well and trust me that there is PLENTY of food, you won't be hungry. The stars on this experience are old world. You will never see space like you do on this journey. This is a 6 stars out of 5 experience. Do it now before corporate America takes over and spoils this untouched wilderness. It will change your life.

How could you give them any less than 5 stars?! We loved our guide and had an awesome experience!read more
