I called early on Memorial Day to see if they accepted walk ins, and they said that while they do…read moretake walk in's, today would be busy, and they recommended making an appointment. It was quick and easy to make an appointment on their website, and it didn't require a security deposit either. I arrived to get my conch piercing at 5:30 pm and I was out by 6 pm. I was a little nervous and had lots of questions about the piercing itself and the after care. I also had not gotten a piercing in years, so I was worried it would be painful. They were kind and allowed my two friends to come to the back with me to hold my hand (I know... I'm a scaredy cat). Mitch walked me through everything that was going to happen- for example, "okay, you're gonna feel a small pinch first and then you'll feel some pressure." He also said that my only job was to keep breathing. He had me take one deep breath in and then exhale out right as he did the piercing, too. As you can tell, the team is very patient and kind here. This is a great spot for anxious girlies or for your first time getting a piercing. Their piercing and jewelry pricing is all fair. My conch piercing costed $45 plus the 14K gold jewelry I chose. Unlike other shops, they had a huge selection of yellow gold and rose gold options that were actually cute- flowers, stars, moons, etc. On average, I saw the stud earrings were about $60-170 each. They also tallied up my total prior to actually getting the piercing, so there weren't any surprises at the end when I paid. They sent me home with a detailed after care guide too. I've already told friends and family about this shop being a great option for them when they come visit Utah.

I got my nose pierced for the first time yesterday at Abyss! I was so nervous and from the moment I…read morewalked in, I was made to feel comfortable and at ease. They answered all my questions and told me exactly what to expect. I also really appreciated their extra attentiveness to cleanliness. A friend had recommended this place and I'm so glad I came here! Would highly recommend.

TWO STARS UPDATE BELOW…read moreThe facility is nice. It's clean. My piercer was nice as well however, there was a huge miscommunication in the wording of pricing. First, I was anticipating getting pierced by a junior piercer for a little bit cheaper of a price And I called The night prior to confirm availability. So I had a guesstimate on how much I was going to spend. I visit the shop and I met with an advanced piercer, which was fine. I was OK with a little bit of a difference confirmed that it would be $60 for the two lobes and immediately followed up with a question about how much jewelery pricing would be. This is where the wording was misleading instead of saying "that one is 30" it was "they'll be 30" and given the context of the conversation it would've been a plural amount of $30 total. I had added another piercing while I was In the chair, knowing my budget in my head. Asking how much it would be to add another one, the jewelry of the next one I decided to pick and so on. So when I was met after getting pierced with my payment screen, it was double what I expected and what we had been talking about. Call it a misunderstanding, but it seemed a little shady because the person that I went there with understood the situation the same way I did given conversation context and wording. This is in no way a reflection of the skill of the piercer because they were great I was comfortable, but their wording in pricing was misleading and not being presented with a total for even the two lobes before I started should be changed; so that way a price is agreed-upon beforehand, and not when the jewelry is in my ear with no chance to change my mind or discuss it since it's already been done. UPDATE after this review I was reached out to promptly by the store again. Despite the discrepancy, we were able to reach a compromise and all in all help one another given the situation. That type of business model and people running it is something admirable and I feel like I should come back here to write that. Word choice in miscommunication happen it's unfortunate that it was me, but I'm utterly grateful for the discussion I was able to have with the business to come to a resolution That benefits both of us. Thank you again for reaching out as a follow up.

I have debated leaving this review for months because i've only seen overwhelmingly positive…read morereviews of this place. I always want to support small businesses and I admire Gaby for building this business by herself. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with my daith. My piercer was sweet and lovely but the piercing given to me was an absolute mess and i'm appalled they were satisfied with it. This establishment doesn't issue refunds apparently but in a scenario where my piercing is clearly done incorrectly I think there should be an exception. I got it repierced again last week and it looks absolutely beautiful but it's a shame I had to shell out 140 total to get it done correctly. When I went to Gaby hoping she would make things right she seemed irritated I wanted to view her work because I had lost my trust in her establishment; she even shaded me for wanting the cheapest option possible because I called in advance asking if I could bring my own jewelry because I wanted it pierced with a hoop. Most places don't allow that which is completely understandable due to sanitation issues but my issue is that when I did come in for my appointment they were out of hoops so I had to pay a little extra for jewelry I didn't even want. I think it was very unprofessional to say that and get annoyed when I asked to see her work! She said if I followed her instagram I would've already seen but I did check the instagram and it's mostly just promotional content and not a lot of pictures of actual work. Absolutely ridiculous to make it personal for her when I was done completely wrong. Safe to say I will not be returning and I advise a place that does body piercings like Art of the Heart or Dermal Decor.
