Paul did our tattoos and they turned out beautifully. He does the best color work and we were very impressed. Shop is clean and nice. All the artists were helpful at answering our questions and they were welcoming. We have 4 dogs and my husband is a professional dog trainer. We also participate in dog sports, including dock diving, rally, and obedience. We wanted to get tattoos of each dog's paw print along with the specific color that represents that dog (color of leash/gear/ color of dock diving bumper, etc). I did a small amount of research, and thought Aloha seemed like a good choice. I had a bunch of reference material for what I wanted. Which was a stack of 3 old CRT TV's with the middle tv displaying the test pattern color bars, mimicking the style of my favorite artist, Yusuke Nakamura. Who is known for his surreal collages and sharp, minimalist line work. I told the guy at the front desk to set me up with whoever specialized in cartoon-y artwork, and we scheduled a day for my art review. Well, apparently he was super-busy that day and it just didn't happen. Being unfamiliar with the general etiquette, seeing as this was my first tattoo, I felt pressured (due to the money already spent) to go along with what he was showing me on the date I was scheduled to get the tattoo. No one made it clear what my options were and no one seemed to give a single shit about guiding me through this first experience. Due to my being unfamiliar with the sensation, I mostly had my eyes shut during, which was clearly a massive mistake, seeing as what I ended up with was undeniably fucked. Shaky line work, inconsistent perspective, line work left unfinished, and portions not even fully colored in. I cannot believe I was charged $250 for this eyesore, I cannot believe that this is supposedly the best artist they had for this style, I cannot believe how ignored I was, I cannot believe caring this little about your clients. I'm now spending even more money, that I don't have, so someone who actually knows what they're doing, can try to course-correct the mess that's now taking up 2/3 of my forearm. I was very excited to get a tattoo here. After several days of trying to schedule an appointment, I put down a deposit to meet with Jose and get my tattoo. I was very excited. I showed up on time for my appointment. After waiting forty minutes I asked how much longer it was going to be...I was then told I could not get the tattoo. He took a walk in that was taking longer than expected. Extremely upsetting to say the least. Waiting for my deposit to be refunded since they cancelled on me. A waste of my afternoon. Wow! VERY professional! I have NEVER had a tattoo shop give me advice to find a specialty artist for my tattoo, wait until a scar heals before getting another one. They turned down my business, but...I was so pleased with the advice and professionalism that I asked them to do another piece I had been wanting . I had made a trip from out of town and paid my deposit, as well as taking a day off of work, only to be told an hour before my appointment time that the artist didn't feel comfortable doing the tribal piece I wanted (that was disappointing). I chose to get another design with Cesar, and I STRONGLY recommend him. He is a newer artist with skills! Visualized my design, and was soothing, patient, and a friendly guy. I'm going back to him when my scar heals to extend the work he did. Cesar is awesome! read more

Luke is a fucking magician. He performed some cover up magic, but I'd like to say that he gave me my first real tattoo. ;) The whole process was so much fun, but he takes his artwork very seriously. He was easy to work with and made sure I felt comfortable the whole time. At some point, I was brought to tears by the progress we were making. No, not from the pain, but by the work. It is absolutely awe-inspiring. I'm so glad that I chose this shop, and I am incredibly lucky to have gotten Luke. I'm sure everyone else is great, but I'm living with the proof! My wife and teen seen got tattoos a couple of days ago -- first experience for anybody in my family. A great experience. Shop itself clean and reasonably appointed if a little crowded. A pleasant volume of non obtrusive music and pleasant to no smells. Staff very friendly and accommodating and non-rushed. Jesse did a great job of Chinese characters on an arm and a back. Jesse went out of his way to accommodate my wife's ink though we didn't have an appt for her. Their online sign up was slightly annoying as it didn't seem mobile friendly but was easy enough. Price seemed reasonable at $325 for the both. They have verbal and written aftercare instructions and there were text and email reminders and info before and after the visit. All in all a quality experience -- while I have no prior tattoo experience to compare to the customer service was great. read more

My friend and I got tattoos to commemorate our last deployment to Afghanistan. I was visiting from out of town, so I scheduled our appointment online. Communication w/ Rayven was awesome - he was patient, informative, accommodating, and answered all my Qs. When the original artist we were scheduled w/ was unavailable, he set us up with Jesse and I am SOOOO glad he did! Jesse was awesome, super professional, and incredibly helpful. Our tattoos were so basic and I was embarrassed having an artist with his skill (I saw the tattoo he did on the guy before us -- holy moley!!!) do such a basic-a#@ tattoo on us, but he made us feel at ease, gave perfect recommendations on size & placement. When my friend asked for bright purple ink, he talked her through pros & cons given the size, placement, and the condition of her skin. He recommended a darker shade of purple that would age better. Her tattoo ended up looking amazing! Aloha Salt Lake is clean, the staff is professional (and hilarious!), their work is flawless. Forewarning, this is a super long review! This was our first time at Aloha, but I can honestly say that my husband and I would happily come back. We were referred to this shop by my mother-in-law. My husband and I have been talking about getting a specific quote tattoo since we got married, and since we finally had the money for it, we decided to get it done on our 3 year anniversary while we were out here in Salt Lake visiting family. Right when we entered, I could see that the shop was clean and organized. We were greeted by Jon, who was very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, he was booked out so he couldn't do the tattoo for both of us, but he told us that their apprentice, Brett, could get it done for us. But even though Jon wasn't available, he still sat down with us and talked with us about our tattoos. He asked us questions that I honestly didn't even think about, like what style I wanted my quote written in, and when we talked about different sizes for the image I wanted with the quote, he talked with me about whether going smaller in size was a good or bad idea. We ended up meeting with Brett later that day, and met Luke as well, and they were both super friendly. One thing that I loved about Brett was that he seemed genuinely excited to do our tattoos and while he sat and talked with us about everything, he never rushed us even though their shop would be closing in less than an hour. He listened to what we wanted and when we had a question, he answered it to the best of his abilities. As for getting the actual tattoo, Brett was amazing. He was super attentive to detail, and made sure that my husband and I were satisfied with the image and quote before we actually started each session. I'm not necessarily a newbie when it comes to tattoos, but I'm also not someone who gets them done often, but I can say that it wasn't as painful as I had anticipated, and I don't know if that's because of my pain tolerance or because Brett didn't have a heavy hand (or maybe it was both), but I would happily have Brett do my tattoo again. If he wasn't sure of something, he would talk with Jon and get his opinion. For my husband's session, he ended up staying an hour & a half after closing time to make sure that my husband's tattoo came out to his satisfaction. Overall, my husband and I left happy and satisfied. Jon and Brett were both professional, but also very friendly. Holding a conversation with them wasn't awkward at all and I'm so happy we took my mother-in-law's recommendation. I just got two new tattoos from Jon at Aloha Tattoos and he touched up a few of my older tattoos as well. I am extremely pleased with the results and already have an appointment set up for my next tattoos. I have had several tattoos done by Jon and Aloha over the past year or so. Now I will not go anywhere else for tattoos. It is always a great experience as a customer to be able to come in, talk through what I am looking to get, get opinions on what will look best and then getting great work done. I have come in with a specific idea and knowing exactly what I want done and I have come in with more open concepts and have had Jon create something new based on the discussion and collaboration. Jon is extremely helpful and it great at educating me on what he is doing, why he is using a certain technique or needle and always creates a comfortable environment that I appreciate as a client. Since I have been a repeat customer, I am very happy with all the work he has done for me and will be coming in for more work to be done. I have also seen a lot of his other work with other clients and it is all impressive. Obviously tattoos can be a very personal thing and styles and tastes vary, but I am impressed with the wide range of styles I have seen from Jon and Aloha in general. Although I have not received a tattoo from him personally, I have seen quite a bit of work that Luke has done and it is very impressive as well. I have been getting a tattoo from Jon and seeing some of the work Luke does with other people and it is fun to see the different styles and just to talk to both Jon and Luke and some of the other clients. It is a very comfortable environment and I have always been pleased with the interaction with a lot of good and diverse people. I also appreciate the input and feedback I receive from both Jon and Luke as I talk through my ideas, look at placement and options. So they (as in Aloha the business itself) makes you pay a deposit before you can book the appointment, which is what I did. But then I just get a call saying the artist I booked with (Kayla) is no longer working there. I say no problem, just refund my deposit and we will be square. The manager refused, said Kayla would need to refund it herself. That makes no sense since it was Aloha that requested and took my money. I ask for her number, he won't give it to me. He only gave me an Instagram handle (I don't have Instagram). At this point, this is a situation of flat out theft any I will be filing whatever formal complaints at my disposal until they address this massive (and illegal) flaw in their business model. read more

I have such mixed emotions! Last time I went to Chance and he did an excellent job! Loved every minute of it however my sister's and I went in today for matching tattoos... TERRIBLE! Nico was the artist who done ours today and they were awful! They weren't how we wanted them, they are all spaced funny and crooked! I definitely recommend Chance but stay away from Nico... He was not very friendly and just tried to hurry us through. We called and spoke with Raven and was told it was our fault they looked like that and he hung up on me. I then called back and spoke with the owner "John" to try and figure out a solution and ask him If they would fix it at a discounted price(we are willing to pay) and if they could even fix it at all and got told I was pissing him off and to take my tattoo and shove it up my ass and to fuck off and he hung up on me! Well was referred by a friend first 5 appointment 's with chance were great then after paying $150 dollar deposit chance no longer is employed there with no notice from Aloaha about chance showed up for my appointment rescheduled twice was offered a$100 dollar discount had to go to Park City for the appointment spent the first one hour 20 minutes waiting for my tattoo to start meanwhile a walk in shows up gets his stencil made tattooed and pays while myself the first appointment for the day is still waiting for them to start after 4 hours in the shop for 2 hours of tattooing left with the worst tattoo I have ever let anyone give me then was asked to lose my $150 deposit for my original appointment revived $100 a supposed discount then charged another $150 made the mistake of booking a appointment before my nightmare started so that is $400 for Aloha and a shitty tattoo for me after seeing my tattoo in the right light when I got home tried to cancel my appointment that was on 10/31/2021 but no refunds so $500 for a tattoo i will have to pay someone else to fix because Aloaha says no to everything including the owner John even returning my phone call so save yourself the terrible nightmare I have suffered and don't let Aloaha steal your money like they did mine read more
