Beware! Free shredding event advertised online for Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 10-12 at their address & nobody was there when I went. When I took in documents again to shred on Monday, October 27th and showed the printout with free date and time for shredding, I was told I would still have to pay minimum charge of $35 for less than one trash bag full of docs. Like all of the other reviewers, they came out and loaded my papers and took them in. My only disappointment was that I didn't get a soda. Popcorn was handed to me, and I was on my way. I originally used Black Dog Shredding in 2015 when we were relocated out of Albuquerque. I was impressed so much by their pricing and service that since returning they were top of my list for our shredding needs. I hauled in a small size packing box fully loaded with financial papers. Years of tax returns, etc. Ideally I would have had another box to make it fully cost effective, but I wanted this out of home office. Once on site, an employee met me at my car, pulled the box from the car for me, verified that I needed to witness the shredding, and gave me the cost; explaining their minimum charge. I agreed to their pricing, we went directly into the facility; the box was dumped into the shredder and returned to me. It was more than worth the cost for me to save my time and from burning up the home shredder working through this mess at home. I highly recommend them. I gave four stars only because I can't generate five stars excitement over paper shredding. :) read more

What a great experience!!! I left disappointed by only one thing: that I don't have more to shred. Unfortunately, it's going to take me 6-9months until I have enough for a return visit. Sad. Wish I could go back sooner. I had 2 LARGE tubs of documents and it only cost $30... I am quite sure it would have cost well over $100 if I had made the mistake of taking it to FedEx or Staples. These guys are so friendly I just wanted pickup a 6-pack and hang out for the afternoon. They truly go above and beyond. If you take your shredding anywhere else, you are missing out. These guys are efficient. Too bad, because it is actually fun to hang out there. I wish I had more to shred so I could stay longer. They have beer on tap and harder stuff in case you need to relax while they eliminate a ton of your old clutter. A win-win. Also, I checked prices around town and they are very reasonable. Plus, they have a green ethic. AND to top it off, while I was enjoying my beverage and conversation with Guy, I noticed a thank you note from a rape crisis center that Black Dog had apparently helped. As we drove up the gentleman sitting at the front door got up, and instantly brought a cart for the boxes to be shredded. Upon going inside we were offered refreshments, as they emptied the boxes in a bin; reassuring if documents are sensitive in nature. They were then run through the shredder as we watched. They immediately shredded right in front of me in an industrial grad shredder. Shredding is recycled. Wouldn't take payment because they said job was too small, just asked that I be a return customer - no problem there! They wouldn't even take a contribution to their popcorn fund! Black Dog Shredding is the best ! Don't make the mistake going to Shred It...I tried going to Shred It within their posted business hours but upon arrival was notified that they had closed 2 hours earlier (online they say they close at 5PM, but the building actually closes at 3). Not sure where to take my files, I found Black Dog, and couldn't be happier. Black Dog loaded my boxes, shredded my files in front of me for free, and charged me 20$ less than Shred It (80$ at Black Dog would have been 100$ at Shred It). Moreover, Black Dog offers free refreshments and snacks, a service certainly not offered by Shred It. Definitely choose Black Dog ! read more
