Entrance to cave

Today was a rainy day so this was a perfect stop! Tour guide Devon did a great job. He was wonderful with my 4 year olds nonstop questions! With a 1 year old we opt'd for the shorter crystal tour since we would have to carry him. After the tour we went out to the sluce box for my son to find some gems we bought in a kit inside. Very reasonable prices with purchase of tour. Spent about an hour all together as we got in for a tour right when arriving.

The Adventure Tour

Had an amazing time! Totally recommend taking the Adventure tour! I made a reservation ahead of time and had no trouble. Be prepared to climb up and down stairs.

My first of many trips to the caverns was an absolute blast! It is the perfect activity for those hot days, since the caves are nice and cool. We did the longer tour that was about 1 and a half hours. Lots of stairs but an amazing walk. This is a great place for family fun as little ones can get hard hats with lights at the gift shop before going on the tour. Our guide, mazie was funny and great!

Me and my dad and sister went here while on vacation in South Dakota. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy and they were ready for us pretty soon after we got there since we booked ahead on the website. We had Arik for our adventure tour guide and he was really nice and funny. Always made sure to wait for people who were struggling and checked in that everyone was ok every few minutes. Had lots of cool facts and information to tell us. We got rocks from the gift shop afterwards and they're very cool. They have a shorter crystal tour and a longer adventure tour for people who don't want to walk for the whole hour and we did the adventure tour which was for sure worth it. Would definitely recommend. It was very very cool:)

And, yes, you can jump in your personal wagon and giddyup over here without having to sign up for a bus tour (reservations are suggested, though). The set originally built for the movie "Dances With Wolves" is now a bunch of ramshackle shops that house historic displays and sell handcrafted items. Live demos show how these items were made in the olden days. Herman Jones, the octogenarian owner of Fort Hays, is the real thing. Do listen to his personal story and ask questions. He not only welcomes visitors but delights in demonstrating how to fashion rope out of toilet paper! Of course, the dinner and show are the main reason to visit. Guests are seated on communal benches in a rustic mess hall. The chow, slung in rapid-fire chuckwagon style onto handmade tin plates, is remarkably tasty and filling (beware of the feisty "slapper" who all but slams a baked potato onto your plate). The hearty cowboy menu never varies. No alcohol is served. Live entertainment features a cast of multitalented performers who encourage audience participation. The "Elvis" impersonator is a riot!

I thought she was joking. For the coaster ride, I had a child over the height and the staff still said she couldn't ride without an adult-- truly didn't make sense. Bathroom has 0 soap and paper towels... kept reminding the staff bc of all the kids. An absolute tourist trap and not worth it- IHOP gives better service

It's…read moreone of those places that you don't expect much from at first, but it ends up being a highlight of your trip. Right at the beginning, you get to step up to a presidential podium and read from a teleprompter, which is such a unique and entertaining way to start. It immediately sets the tone for a more interactive experience. Inside, there are over 100 life-sized wax figures, including every U.S. president, displayed in scenes that represent important moments in American history. The attention to detail is impressive, and some of the figures are incredibly lifelike. It's both educational and fun, which makes it great for all ages. The self-guided audio tour adds a lot of value, giving context and background to each exhibit so you're not just looking at displays--you're actually learning as you go. If you're in Keystone or visiting Mount Rushmore, this is definitely worth stopping for. It's engaging, unique, and a great way to experience history in a different way. Check out our video.
