I've been coming to this store since I was a kid. I visit every single time I come to the beach. They have so much to offer and I'm not sure why I'm seeing so many reviews about the staff because these women are amazing! Very knowledgeable and are so friendly. They make relationships with their customers.. I go in without being there for months at a time and they still know me! The vibe in this store is a whole "vibe" I never leave empty handed. Walked in about 10 mins before the store was closing and the girl behind the counter told me "We're about to close" okay no big deal. I was in the store for about 4 minutes and the girl loudly stated they were closing and we needed to make our way to the check out to make our purchases and that if we wanted anything else they opened at 10 the next morning. I've never had a store do this to me. I was planning on spending more money and knew I had 10 minutes to look but didn't expect to practically be kicked out 4 minutes in. This is a cool place for crystals, hippie things and some cool sculptures. To be quite honest, I don't feel the "vibe" of my usual metaphysical stores here and I don't know how they sale the crystals for so cheap. Makes me feel like they're not authentic. But, everyone seems to love this place and I tend to back and browse every time I am in the area, too. Employees are kinda friendly, kinda not. I went to days in a row. I was initially nervous about the staff as I had a read a recent previous review that didn't shed the greatest of impressions of their experience at the store. Just had another item from this store break on me within 2 months of purchasing. See pictures attached- the first was a pendat that broke within 4 weeks and the seconds was a chakra beadcharm clip that broke off of my purse within 7 weeks. I tried to exchange the necklace but the store refused to accept the exchange without a receipt even though I had record of the purchse in my bank account records. The people at this store are nasty and not KIND at all. Their jewelry is cheap and I hope to share my experience with others so they know not buy jewlrey from this store. I cannot understand why they have such high review marks, maybe the other reviews are from employees or friends of the owners or most people only by gems, beads or crystals. It's hard to spend money on rocks, but if you decide to, this is a good spot to start. They sell all sorts of polished up minerals and such for the aspiring geologist, or the distracted-by-shiny-objects four year old, ranging from less than a dollar to quite a few, but they also have an assortment of home decorating sized geodes (think halved boulders with crystal filled cores). Jewelry is also abundantly available, as are creatively carved wood pieces, but they also carry the ability increasing stuffs... I just don't know what to call the items that are used for healing/fortune telling/spirit talking/teleporting/laser shooting and any other magic type activities I lack the ability to utilize. The staff was very friendly and attentive when I visited, but not overly so; they acknowledged my presence, then remained distant but available. I am not in the habit of buying rocks, so I am not really aware of competitive pricing in this field, however, I do know this store is smack dab in the middle of tourist central, so I'd expect the prices to reflect that accordingly. Overall it is a pretty neat place. * of note: they have no moon rocks or blood diamonds, or really anything illegal at all. read more

Walked in and the vibration made me a little dizzy at first! Haha! I felt like a kid in a candy store. I had to send my family out of the store once I got to the register so they didn't see how much I spent! LOL! This shop is really good for anyone who enjoys a large variety of crystals while also not wanting to break the bank. Their prices are great for some of the material that they have and their variety is amazing, from common quartzes to uncommon specimens. The store is barely labeled so you have to know exactly what you're looking for in order to get it. Plus the few sections that are labeled an employee even told me that it was partially mislabeled. Yeah it has cheaper prices but the staff wasn't friendly like any other crystal shop I've been to. I came to see what they had and a few crystals in mind and left disappointed because most wasn't labeled so you can't be sure it is what it is and then knowing the employee said the label was wrong makes me not trust the other labels around. First, let me say I have been living in Myrtle Beach for close to a year. Second, I am a crystal hound and have a side craft business that involves using crystals to make jewelry. I usually go out of my way to avoid Black Market Minerals! I gave the store three chances when I first moved down and was met with terrible service. Now, this is obviously a tourist trap so I didn't expect the staff to be super knowledgeable, but I did expect them to be pleasant. It was like they were being sent to execution when I asked for a cabinet opened. Three times I had this experience and it both made me feel sick and sad. Due to being truly in need of something really simple, really quickly I went back on my personal oath to never enter that store again. I did not need assistance but was greeted rather than grunted at when I entered and though the two staff girls were behind the desk chatting and doing inventory they were also interacting with shoppers and aware of their surroundings. I make a visit to this store every time I visit. There is a very large verity of rocks and minerals to choose from. There is also a good diversity in $ price. They have some good bargains on both small and large items. You can't go wrong with their earring studs or wired necklaces. This is my HAPPY PLACE! read more

Rocks, minerals, and gems oh, my! Excellent selection of items at various prices from raw or polished rocks and minerals to jewery and folk art crafts. One thing you will remember after visiting is the colors, the colors! It likes the shineys, master.... plus I became a bit of a novice rock and mineral hound as a kid growing up with a creek flowing through the back yard and a river forming the western boarder of the farm pasture. I found Black Market Minerals stores a few years ago and was happy to learn about the North Myrtle Beach location in 2014. I've visited several times since then and have noted the staff have been friendly; found some are "budding" artist and some just like what they are selling (it would be a cool part-time gig). This is a store to really pick up a special souvenir (without MB gratuitously stuck on it) that's not like those found at beach towel, swimsuit, cups, and hat shops that litter King's highway. read more

It's a beautiful store but I wish there were people who knew a little about what was sold. They have a good selection but you have to be careful of the fake or dyed things. Every time I would pick something up to exam it, then put it back down an employee would pop up behind me and start fixing the item as if I had destroyed it. Visited this store on a Thursday afternoon, 8/10 while on vacation. They have an expansive selection and from someone who doesn't know much about stones and rocks it was a little overwhelming. The staff was so rude they could care less about helping us. When we asked about ONE stone the girl behind the counter threw us a book and said to look it up. She was so nasty and rude to us. As someone who has worked countless years in retail, I know about customer service and the staff here clearly don't care about customers OR the product they're selling. Very unique store. But in a good way. Wife and kids love all the wood carvings and stone carvings. Always seem to spend $100 every but very happy with all of our purchases. Everything always fits in when we get home and we always get comments on everything. Prices are much less expensive than internet. Always something new every year we go. Salt lamps with base and light kit for $13 is best price ever. We go every time we are at Myrtle Beach. Recommend to anyone that has the taste for something different not big store decorations. This place is quite literally a hidden gem. When I think of shopping at the beach I picture cheap sea shells and tacky beach gear. But this shop shines a new light on shopping at the beach. They sell beautiful tumbled rocks, unique jewelry, all kinds of minerals, house decor, dream catchers, etcetera. Their vast selection of gemstones is both beautiful and exciting. Once you step inside, you wouldn't be able to stop yourself from exploring the great collection of gems and minerals. What's more is that everything is fairly priced. Not super cheap, but not pricey either. You know that you are getting your money's worth, but that you're not overpaying either. While visiting BMM I bought about a dozen beautiful tumbled rocks along with a few rough (untumbled) rocks that I plan on putting in my tumbler to smooth out the edges myself. The woman that checked me out was extremely friendly and very knowledgable about all of the gems. I had a really wonderful experience and I can't wait to return. This is a REALLY cool place!
