Everyone on Kauai is nice. Whether their business practice is sound is another story!
My partner and I have been together for 11 years and we decided to buy some official wedding bands during our anniversary trip to Kaua'I in May. We went to this location first, but then decided to do a bit of research before we bought our rings. On the day of our anniversary, May 17th, we bought our rings and were excited to get them when we got home. We got custom rings so we didn't just buy what was in the display cabinet.
The person that helped us, had to call the manufacturer to ensure what I was requesting could be made. The person that called, didn't hand off all of the details to the person who wrote up the order. Of the two rings we purchased, 1 was completely wrong and I was left to work directly with the manufacturer to get my purchase resolved.
Here is what worked:
* The people were nice
* The sales process was not pushy
* They had lots of rings for us to try on and decide.
* I got specific instructions for sending it back
* The manufacturer was gracious, kind and cares about the credibility of his business. (Jerry @ Hawaii Titanium Rings) - so Black Pearl works with a reputable supplier.
Here is what did not work:
* The sales person that talked to the manufacturer had a sloppy hand off
* I basically had to defend what was supposed to have happened during our transaction because Black Pearl was no-where to be found. I had to send the steps of what happened during the transaction and what I remembered us agreeing to (since the order was written up incorrectly). This means sending emails, taking photos of receipts, recounting the details.
* We got a receipt that had absolutely no details about what we purchased (type of wood, type of metal, quality of diamond). I didn't look at it until later in the day
* The seller (This Black Pearl store) just sells and hands off and doesn't care whether your purchase is correct, satisfactory or whatever
* I just got what I originally ordered (my ring correctly made) yesterday, July 21st because of Black Pearl's mistake. I purchased it on May 17th 2015.
I would never buy anything from Black Pearl again whether its on Kaua'I or Aspen. They don't seem to be too concerned about the credibility of their business and they clearly have an issue with business process. If you decide to, make sure you get a full written up receipt with all details confirmed before you leave...since its clearly not part of their process to confirm an order that is taken. read more
