First time here and we loved it. Not a huge resort so you can get in and out very easily. Stayed in a cabin and were very clean. We had dual bunk beds and moved them together to make a large bed for us and our two little ones with no gap in the middle. AC worked great and it had a ceiling fan. Outside is a nice bbq grill with a separate fire pit and small picnic table in great shape. Your door is steps from the water with an incredible view. Bathrooms and showers looked recently updated and were cleaned daily. In-laws had an rv spot and there was not a single sticker burr to be found! Also, staff was friendly and not uptight about a second vehicle being slightly off the pavement at the rv sites. Would recommend to everyone and will definitely stay here again. read more

Black Rock Park Cabin 48 Great spot. Cabins are pretty close together. Beds are so loud, squeaky and barely comfortable. Definitely take fitted sheets. The wind was crazy but it was really peaceful. There's a 9 hole putt putt golf course, $9 per person, that is in good condition but not maintained at all, it was covered in leaves and twigs. Bathroom with shower was very close to cabin but it was dirty and there was no hand soap and the handicap bathroom ran out of toilet paper. We would still stay here again. read more

The upgrades to this park are awesome and the lake is full so that makes it really special. However, they are invaded by Canada geese so get ready to step in goose poop. You can't play putt putt, you can't walk the beach and you can't really walk anywhere without stepping in the poop. I love wild life and I especially love birds but this is too much. I understand the geese are there through winter. read more

Great little park. Cabins have ac and heat with a total of 4 beds (2 bunk bed set ups) and one of the lower beds is probably a full size mattress with the others being single. They're covered in plastic so there should be much of a concern about scabies or bed bugs. It's a VERY small park right on lake Buchanan and there is very limited food options in the area. The closest HEB is about the size of a large 7/11 so bring food and coolers, ESPECIALLY if you have any dietary restrictions. I can't hammer this point home enough: it is a VERY small park. If you want hiking go somewhere else. I really enjoyed my time here and I plan to go back, but I will be better prepared next time. Also, I'd just like to add that any and all LCRA parks are far superior in every possible way to state and metropolitan parks. This place (though INCREDIBLY SMALL) does live up to the hype that I've self imposed upon LCRA parks. read more

This was a beautiful campsite. The park was a little empty when we went at the beginning of February, which was nice. We were able to let Bailey run on the shore while watching the sunrise! We will definitely be back to camp here a little longer. There was plenty of space between campsites and the previous campers left our fire ring full of firewood so we paid it forward for the next campers! Went out to Black Rock the other day to check out the water and was shocked by all the beautiful flowers they were all over. It's really pretty need to check it out. The water is down but there's still plenty out there to do whatever you'd like to do. My family and I have spent a lots of time down there during the summer It is clean and it's fine. read more

Had an awesome, fun, and relaxing time here with my family. We stayed at Cabin #49, which had easy access to the lake and restrooms/showers. We were situated in a cove - which was really nice. There were times when we had the entire cove to ourselves, and even when others were there, there was still lots of space for everyone. We were a bit worried about Covid and didn't know what to expect, as the park was also open to day use. But there was definitely enough space for everyone to enjoy safely. We didn't encounter any rude guests and everyone adhered to quiet hours (10p-6a), so we didn't have any issues at all. The cabin was $75, pet friendly. Our puppy had an amazing time! Cabin bunk beds were not the most comfortable, but at least it has AC. Do not expect a 5-star hotel! :) The restrooms/showers were not air-conditioned and were not always clean - but was okay to use. We only had one night where there was a bit of a line for restroom / showers. The water was super clean and warm & cool at the same time - perfect for the summer heat in Texas. There was a public boat ramp and kayak rental. A burn ban was in effect, so we didn't get to use the campfire. One star taken away because of all the sand spurs ! Definitely do not recommend going barefoot anywhere, and our puppy had them all over his little paws,.. also, there were humongous large ant piles throughout the park,..... you have to be extra careful walking around. The ice machine was also broken during our stay - but there are some grocery stores nearby. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would definitely come back! read more

We held our annual family camping trip here and it is our new favorite camping site! The mini-cabins were cute and equipped with everything you need! Grill, fire pit, picnic table, covered patio. Inside the cabin are two sets of bunk beds, one with a full size on the bottom & the other three beds are twin size. They were clean & the heater came in handy when the cold front rolled in. They are pet friendly so our doggies were able to share in the fun. The restrooms and showers were immaculate! The staff was super friendly & took pride in the upkeep of the property! They sell firewood onsite, along with a filtered water and ice machine, which was very convenient! They offer kayaks, canoes and paddle boards for renting, which were a hit with the teens in our group. We will definitely be back this summer! read more

The cabins are all located around the lake. Some allow pets and others don't so be sure to check. I would say the side with no pets allowed has a much better view of the lake. The cabins are small but air conditioned and comes with two sets of bunk beds. One is two twin beds the other has a twin on top and a full on the bottom. WARNING. BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS! Thank God I didn't listen to my husband and brought some just in case. There are also tent sites available. There are day picnic areas towards the front of the park. It is a pretty small park compared to others but the beach is fun if you have little kids. My only complaints were the bathrooms were closed a lot and there was a great deal of trash on the beach. Also I know they are everywhere but watch out for fire ants read more

I chose this site because of its proximity to the Llano Slab and its location on Lake Buchanan. This was my first time at an LCRA park and I have mixed feelings about it. I made the reservation online and paid the appropriate fees...but was unaware I would be charged an additional day use ON TOP of the camping fees. No bueno LCRA. I reserved a tent site, but quickly upgraded to a small cabin. The tent sites are pretty much shite. -NO water -NO electricity (not a deal breaker, but this was car camping people) -NO shelter of any sort (trees...etc) -the bathrooms for the tent sites are just plain disgusting. The RV sites have all the bells and whistles and a clean bathroom facility...which makes zero sense, since RVs have bathrooms on them. The cabins are nice. The bathrooms are a bit better, but only available with a code for cabin users. They have full electric and HVAC, grill, fire ring, and cover. Some of the cabins are arms length close to each other. The saving grace was the view of the receding lake. Nonetheless, the view was great and there are numerous trails to get to the water. I'd come back for a quick getaway with the cabin, but would never dream of doing any tent camping here. For the drive and money, just hit Inks Lake five minutes away. Better yet, look for any campsite run by Corps of Engineers. They have great facilities. read more

We just keep coming back here. LCRA has added in-park WIFI, which is a really nice touch. Cell service in the area can be kind of spotty, and having WIFI makes things much easier. I still wish they would expand the kid's playground, even just a little bit. They have a swing set, but no other playscape to speak of. Online reservations are handled by Reserve America. The user interface for this is kind of clunky, but it is really nice that every site in the park has 3 pictures on the reservation website. Now you don't have to wonder if there is shade, or if the site is level, or if you will have enough space to park, etc... Last, we have recently upgraded our camper to a 5th wheel bunkhouse. With our upgrade, we now have 2 sewer connections (one towards the front for the bathroom, and another towards the rear for kitchen gray water). All the RV sites at Black Rock have 2 sewer connections to accommodate this set up, without having to use a "Y" adapter. The lake is still really, really low, which is kind of disheartening. But it is clear that LCRA is using this time to make upgrades to the park. Keep it up! read more

I was invited along to go camping with a friend of mine. My hubby was out of town and I was a little hesitant to take my 19 month old by myself, camping, for the first time in over 10 years. My friend reassured me by telling me they go "cabin camping." I thought, shoot, why not! This campsite is about a hour fifteen away from North Austin. I arrived and the lady at the front was very nice. Even though there were a line of cars, she took the time to explain directions to where each person was going and had a map that highlighted specifically where to go. The rules of the campsites, codes to the cabins and bathrooms, and instructions on how to use the lock boxes was printed on the back of the map. The cabins were smaller, but nicer than I expected. They had 2 bunk beds which included a total of 3 twins and one full/queen. They provide a kitchen size trash can with a trash bag and a broom/dust pan. There was a covered porch and a little yard area for each cabin. The yard area included a grill, a tall hook, a fire pit and a picnic table. Next to each cabin there is a water faucet and parking is about 3 feet from the cabin. My favorite part was that they had a ceiling fan and, get this, air conditioning in each cabin. Heck, this ain't so bad! The bathrooms were about a 2 minute walk away. There were 3 bathrooms that have a sink, toilet and shower. They were kept very clean and tidy. There was a burn ban in effect and they were very clear that they would be monitoring this so no fires this time! The lake was about a 5 min walk from the cabins, but you had a very clear view of it from your front porch. Dogs are allowed so I got to bring the pup along with me and he had a great time! The only negative was all the prickly stickers everywhere. Not that they can help that much, I mean it's Texas nature after all. They do have a boat ramp close by and tent camping available as well, but I'll take the A/C in this heat! read more

The park site itself is beautiful. I loved the views of the lakes and the hills from our camping spot. The people that worked here were very nice and accommodating to us, but that's about where the positives end. We camped at spot 34 because it's the only tent site on the water. Well, the water levels are so low, we were no where near the water, which isn't anyone's fault so that wasn't something I was upset about. The problem really was that this camping spot we chose is the only one in this field which is nestled up next to the rows of Cabins, across from a new construction building, and next to the day use area. There aren't any trees near by, there are tons of ants, and noise. There were lights shining into our tent from the people in the cabins, and they had no respect for the rules of the park. Their kids were riding bikes through our camp site, yelling, and playing in the construction site well after 10 pm. I'm pretty sure the guy worked there or something because he went into the new building that was being built and put a movie on for his kids that was playing so loudly everyone could hear it. There aren't really places to hike or trails to check out. It's just lake, and campsite. If you are used to something like Inks Lake where you can do all sorts of activities, this place is a bit lack luster. Also, there are no water spouts at the tent sites. So you have to go to the bathroom to get any water for anything. The bathrooms here are also odd. You are given a code when you arrive and only allowed to use those bathrooms. There are essentially 3 tiers of bathrooms here. There are the day use the bathrooms that have shower curtains for doors, no light, and is covered in bugs that are super scary. The second bathroom is the RV bathroom, which is better with lights and no bugs. But the 3rd bathroom is the bathroom for the cabins only. You can't go in there if you are in the regular camping. Someone left the door ajar so I went inside to check it out and they are immaculate. For the drive, the distance, and the view, I'd rather go to Inks Lake. read more

Absolutely loved this park. We rented a cabin for $55 per night, 2 nights - Pet friendy, so we could bring our dog. The cabin was very clean, the air conditioner worked great, good lighting. The cabins had a grill, fire pit, and table in the front. The cabins sleep 5 peoples, 2 sets of bunk beds, 1 of which has a double for the bottom. Did not have any issues with bugs in the cabins. The lake was beautiful and a very short walk to get there, you can also drive to it. The staff was professional, very helpful and very sweet! We will most definitely be back. Highly recommended! A few friends and I decided to go camping last weekend and one of the places we settled upon was Inks Lake, which is a few miles away from Black Rock. Long story short, after enjoying ourselves for a few hours at Inks, we got kicked out. Basically the park rangers at Inks gave us a few options, the best one being to leave and go to Lake Buchanan. When we arrived at Black Rock it was late and the front office was closed. However, there was a box of envelopes to leave our money in to pay for a site. So we picked out a site and pitched our tents there. As it turns out, the spot we picked wasn't very great, but this had to do with our friend Mother Nature. Our spot, on the map, looked to be about 10 feet from the shore. In reality, it was a different story. Due to the drought, the lake had dried up to the point where our campsite was a good 7 minute walk from the beach. Like I said, not the fault of Black Rock Park. Also, there were very few trees there, and as we all know, trees help fight wind. That night a cold front came in and the winds blew something fierce. At the risk of getting our tents collapsed, we spent the night in our cars. Since we paid for a campsite and not a cabin, we didn't have access to the "fancy" bathrooms, which were protected by a keypad. That meant we needed to use the "economy" bathrooms if nature called. Call me a city boy, but those "economy" facilities were downright nasty. Bug carcasses everywhere, a curtain instead of a stall door and no toilet seats. Almost like "the worst toilet in Scotland" from Trainspotting minus the shit covered walls. While eating breakfast on our campsite, the guy who runs the place, apparently named "Easy", rode up to us on his ATV talked with us. After shooting the shit for a few minutes, he understood our plight and was nice enough to refund our first night and made it easy to get a cabin instead. The cabin was a marked improvement from our tents and we were able to gain access to the nice bathrooms. From that point until we left, we had a blast. As I understand it, Black Rock Park was an LCRA park rather than a State Park. If your group consists of a bunch of 20-somethings who want to get back to nature and have a good time, I'd recommend Black Rock anyday over Inks Lake. read more

Filthy bathrooms in the RV area - right next to the host cottage. Checked in on a Sunday so sort of expected it to be a little off after the weekend. By Tuesday evening same 2 of 3 toilets unusable, same disgusting feminine hygiene product on the floor and same bugs in the corners. I'm told the men's bathroom is as equally nasty. Too bad - The grounds on the other hand are very well kept. read more

Was there Memorial Day and Fourth of July. This park has really gone down hill. The bathroom facilities are nasty and many are closed. On memorial day weekend the same trash was in the showers for 5 days. The main bathrooms had one toilet working (both men and women), the tent camper bathrooms had raw sewage in the showers. On fourth of July weekend, the main bathrooms were all that were open. They had placed porta-potties around, but they were nasty and disgusting. Canceling all future reservations here and finding something else. read more

Stayed a week. The staff and park were excellent. The park is really nice and with the lake back up, the trees in the water make it great to float around. This was our first time staying at Black Rock Park. We chose the mini cabin & they were great. The community shower/bathrooms were always clean & staff did come around a few times a day to check if we needed trash bags or had any issues. The staff was great & the cabin area was very clean.
