Although we are not customers of this establishment, my husband and I regularly go to the gym across at EOS and pass by this business often. We've seen that there are already complaints about men making inappropriate comments toward women outside the shop. Recently, my husband asked someone coming from the barbershop about the name of the individual who was calling out to women, and he was told his name is Drew. This behavior is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. It creates an uncomfortable and unsafe environment for women simply walking by. It also makes me hesitant to even accompany my husband if he ever wanted to get a haircut there, because I would not feel comfortable being around that kind of behavior. Regardless of whether someone is a customer or not, businesses should maintain a respectful atmosphere in public spaces. We hope management addresses this issue appropriately. read more

Came in for a walk in as their social media page states walk-ins welcomed. The vibe was cool for adults, but was not greeted a single time or asked if I had an appointment or was a walk in. There was even one barber who was sitting down on his phone after finishing a cut and did not ask two of us waiting if we were walk-ins. Do not recommend. Wasted an hour of waiting. Service was amazing. Wait time was only 5 mins and the Vibes there were chill af. Joel took care of my cut and he did a damn good job! He was professional and took his time. Most barbers get you in and out as quickly as possible. I initially walked in to Black Rose as I was leaving the mall; I was greeted by Suhar. She demonstrated patience, kindness and knowledge as she answered all of my questions. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to have my hair cut that day, but I knew that I would be back. A couple of days later, I called to make an appointment. Luckily, Suhar had an opening for the day and time that I wanted my appointment. Immediately after scheduling my appointment, I received a text message from Black Rose as confirmation. The text had the date and time of my appointment, which is great for people that forget. About 24 hours before my appointment I received another text message reminding me of my appointment. Once again, the text mentioned the time of my appointment, so there wouldn't be any confusion. Upon my arrival on the date of my appointment, I was immediately greeted by Suhar. Since I arrived about 15 minutes early, she was making the final touches to her previous client. Once she was done with him, she began to prepare everything for me. She cleaned the chair, sanitized her machines and walked over to me to let me know that she was ready. Suhar was very attentive to my explanation of exactly what I wanted. I asked for my head to be shaved and for my beard to be trimmed, lined up and faded into my freshly shaved head. Being that I get my head shaved, I am very particular about my beard; it needs to be perfect! Suhar's process involved a hot towel and a straight razor with a brand new blade. She was very gentle and was not in a hurry what so ever. She communicated throughout the entire process and made sure that we were both on the same page. Black Rose isn't just a place for men to get their hair cut, they can accommodate for an entire family. While I was getting serviced, so were a couple of young boys. Prior to my departure, a woman arrived to have her hair cut as well. Men, women and children can all receive service here. My mom's haircut 5/5. My haircut 1/5 Pros: Readily available - no appointment or real wait time. Cons: Cleanliness Professionalism If you are looking for a barbershop for a quick haircut before/after visiting the gym across the way, then look no further. This place will work for you. I hear there are five barbers, so availability should be no problem. On my visit, however, there were no barbers and just one hairdresser. Previously at this location, there was a Master Cuts. A place my mother and I occasionally visited pre-Covid on and off for a few years. We didn't experience any issues or bad experiences when it was Master Cuts. Turns out they no longer exist (at least at this location). Instead there is a modern more-barber-than-beauty-salon with fluorescent lighting, a single display case with a few products, a rose backdrop in the back, loud music too catch your attention, overall a "tattoo-shop" esthetic. Straight to the point, it's not your typical beauty salon. Instead of walking by after realizing this is not Master Cuts, my mother said "let's just ask." Famous last words. Convinced by the sight of a woman doing a woman's hair, we walked in while the hairdresser (wearing black biker shorts and a green cropped T-shirt) was blow drying and brushing a customer's hair. Later to find out, this person used to work at the previously located Master Cuts, may have cut my hair back in the day, and is the owner of this new shop. I asked if she cut curly hair, and she said yes without hesitation. The hairdresser said that she had some appointments but would give us a call if she was available. Within ten minutes we received the call. We walked over and there was a man sitting on the couch with her (this guy, seemed to be her hype man after a few exchanges) and she stood up as fast as she sat down on the couch. I was up first. We walked over to the first station. There was still hair from the previous haircut on the ground and she was just barely sweeping it away. The only things on her station that caught my eye were two used round brushes, a bottle of CHI product, and a hair dryer. I showed her the picture of the haircut I wanted (layered with bangs) and she said ok let's wash your hair. First off, didn't expect her to cut my hair wet, and secondly I told her I had washed my hair already but that she could wet it. I guess I should have let her wash my hair because the next thing she did surprised me. She sprayed my hair and started to brush the hair down, with the same brush she used with the previous client. She showed me how much hair she was going to cut and I said ok. Didn't look like much. Bangs started off under my nose but then may have went a little shorter with the bangs. Apparently the haircut was over and all she did was add the CHI product on my hair. My hair looked pretty much the same but with some layers and a bang that didn't really sit right. My mom was next and no surprise there. She had no issues with her haircut cause she has straight hair. The only thing I noticed was that the same brush that was used previously on me or the second brush that was on the station, was now being used on my mom. I went home giving the hairdresser the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was just me and washing it and styling would help. I washed it and tried to style it, I ended up looking like Rick James. There was too much weight in the layers, and the bangs weren't helping. I thank her for not going scissor happy and cutting too much. But also disappointed in the execution of the haircut. Had she been honest and said, "I can try" or "let me see the haircut and I'll let you know what I can do," or simply, "unfortunately, I haven't cut a lot of curly hair," then I wouldn't have mind and this bad review wouldn't exist. On the other hand, had she thrown all caution to the wind, snipped off a lot more, I think I would have died and this review would be a lot worse. If we had only went in for my mom's haircut (though I doubt that would have happened), I am sure I would have given a better review and overall rating. But still the main focal points would remain. Had I just given a blind four or five star review, it wouldn't do me or the owner any favors. The owner wouldn't know what areas they need to work on, and I would be grinding my teeth at the false review--it would be beneath me. If the owner has been doing hair for years now, then they know exactly what their strengths are, as well as their weaknesses. The location is ideal and the clientele is there. Obviously, the owner has an illuminating personality, drive, goal and a direction where she wants her barbershop/salon to go. I think if the owner makes changes, not saying she needs to take it back to Master Cuts, not saying cater to old women or the straight-haired impaired, but accommodates for a more balance between beauty-barber shop, maintains the upkeep of areas, tools and products, then this review would read differently. read more

Be aware that children are running this business and you will not receive any professionalism here. I've been here twice and have had completely different experiences. I walked in yesterday and was asked to put my name and number on the waiting list. I sat there for about 45 minutes while 2 barbers kept looking at themselves in the mirror, comparing their waist size and high fiving each other for about 30 minutes. They completely ignored me and started taking walk-ins ahead of me. I walked out without being acknowledge. The only barber who seemed professional was the one working on the far right close to the mall entrance across from the arcade. He was working non-stop cutting an entire family's hair and has cut my hair before. Unfortunately, the others need to get their acts together and grow up. Most unclean and disgusting service ever! Came to get my daughters haircut here a while back and upon entering I was atleast greeted by the male staff which seemed professional. However once the lady stylist came around to service us i then found out the place looks decent from the outside until you sit and observe. Apart from not sweeping up the hair from the previous customer she didn't even seem to clean the dirty used brush on her desk before putting it on my daughters head! The worst part was when I looked closely under her work area and noticed a cockroach near the dumpster she was next to! She finished the haircut so fast she didn't even seem to care. How can I begin to start about these guys, they are unprofessional. When I was there you can hear them talk about all the girls that were walking to the gym, checking them out and making inappropriate comments about them. They don't wash their equipment. When I got home I had bumps all over my head and when I asked my barber he said yea they don't clean their stuff. When I confronted them about it they said it was just eczema and had nothing to do with the hair cut. I don't have eczema and never have. These guys are all new and don't know how to cut. It took two guys to work on my beard and they messed up bad. One side of my beard was higher then the other and they tried fixing it by fading it by putting hair paint enchantment which did not look good at all. They also cut me while using a straight razor on my beard. I'm never coming back again and no body else should as well. read more
