I have gotten plenty of tattoos from a few places and I have to admit that Black Sheep is now my go to shop! I will only go here for my work now! Jake is doing a full sleeve for me and his works is hands down some of the best I've seen! It took me a while to find an artist that I wanted to do my sleeve and then I saw Jake's work. I am compelled to do another review of Black Sheep Tattoo and my artist Jake after a recent experience. I occasionally have to make quite a drive up to Orange to a hobby shop for parts. Before my most recent visit to this hobby shop, I had not been there for at least 7-8 months. When I walked in, the guy behind the counter said "hey, how have you been?" Then he started talking with me like we have been friends since second grade! I was completely caught off guard and confused because I had no idea who he was I awkwardly asked him if we knew each other and he said "yeah, I remember you the last time you came in." I told him that was impressive because I hadn't been in there for almost 8 months. I asked him how he remembered me given he has probably seen thousands of customers since I had been there last. He said I remember your sleeve!!! He said when I saw it the first time he would never forget it! I personally cannot remember anyone I have ever met because of their PARTICULAR tattoo! THAT speaks volumes to me about Jake's work. His work has been the ONLY work I have had done that was remembered by ONE person I had a five minute interaction with from 8 months ago! Jake- thank you! I had an outstanding tattoo experience here. I am taken back by the professionalism and general care for the client and the tattoo work they do. I highly recommend this place and would recommend it to all my friends. I was in the military and they gave me a really good military discount. This place is like the speak east of tattoo shops . Changed the size of tattoo I wanted and took his time to do everything. Took 2 hours for Tyler to set up and constant smoke breaks. Did not want shading but he made the tattoo almost black. I contacted JP via IG. He was upfront and honest. He did my full sleeve. I had an idea and theme from previous tattoos I have. We came up with an idea to match the theme. It was better than I had expected. Jp's talent is second to none. Extremely talented artist. Black sheep tattoo is clean everything was in its place. Well ran tattoo shop. They have water and snacks for the clients to eat while they're getting work done. There's a market with great Mexican food just stairs. I live in north OC and drove all the way to the shop to get the tattoos. I have recommended this shop to my friends. read more

I have a couple more sessions left with JP but words cannot even express how grateful and how happy I am. He did my grandpa so much justice! He looks so real, so handsome and honestly I just wanna cry. I am so grateful and I put a photo of my results. I do have another photo of what picture he referred to to tattoo on me and let me tell you it's more than exceptional. He's a really great artist, if you just get to talk to him and get to know him as an artist you'll see that he's a genuinely good individual and someone real you would want to get tattooed by. I've had my fair share of tattoos. All different artists, however from the get go I was made to feel like crap. Like the door was closed so I knocked, get made fun of for knocking and being polite okay cool. Gave him the idea man took two hours to set it up, that's fine I get it art takes time, he changed the entire idea I originally had. Doesn't like new styles only old styles cause that's how he learned. It felt like every five minutes he went to smoke. The atmosphere sucked. A tattoo that should have taken three hours took seven. Copious amounts of breaks to go get high, coming back in and having a tantrum over his set up. Would get so aggravated that his would fuck up his machine multiple times, didn't tell his client where his work station was (moved it around a lot) and got upset when it was bumped into. God damn, I went here because I heard good reviews about a certain artist, but not Tyler. It's a cool shop, don't get me wrong and they have shirts for their customers and water and all that, just my artist was rude as hell. read more

Total as*holes. Dude with bald head was so unnecessarily rude, did not even stay to get tattoo because of him. Do better.

I made an appointment with Scott by securely submitting my security deposit of $150.00. 3 days before my appointment, my boss tells me that because of the hospital taking a huge loss - due to covid, they will be reducing my work hours. I reached out to Scott (3 days prior to my appointment) to let him know that right now is not the time to move forward with it and he responded by saying that, "so better we cancel it leaving a hole in my schedule." I didn't even get to meet him in person or get to have artwork done by him -- the best part is that HE DID NOT EVEN RETURN my deposit back nor cared to respond to my email. He is not professional and it is unfortunate that black Sheep Tattoo has a scam of an artist representing them. read more

JP is the best! Not only is the shop in an amazing location, but it's squeaky clean and amazing inside. Every piece I have from JP has been well thought out and turns out kick ass. You can tell he is a true perfectionist and constantly trying to master his craft.
