Stopped here for a glass of wine and a snack. The ambience is amazing here and the wooden interior is something to be experienced. And the wine is great! We had 2 glasses of Dark Continent and tried a few others...all to our liking. Staff was amazing too...very polite and helpful. We will be coming back!

My family and I went to Black sheep Vineyard on a Saturday night to go watch Hoard and Jones. When getting there we first went to the bar and got our wine, the ladies were very kind to us and let us taste a bunch of different wines to decide which one we would like best. When you going to find a receipt we had multiple options between a loft with couches, sitting outside on the deck, seats right next to the stage where the band was playing. We went and sat out on the deck which had an amazing view that overlooked looked their Vineyard. Later at that night two hours before closing the owners let out their vineyard dogs, Polo and Foch, it was so cute! Over in all, I recommend Black sheep Vineyard to anyone who loves a good band and wine!

The atmosphere is wonderful, especially the outdoor space. But...there's not enough of it! We came on a Saturday night and finally found some seats up in the loft and stayed for awhile to listen to the live music. The wine was okay...too sweet for me, but it was a beautiful night and the music was fun. I understand that Black Sheep is a winery, but I think it'd be a great idea if they'd open a full-service bar and add more seating/outdoor space. We also had a tough time finding a parking space and ended up leaving our car about 100 yards down the road.

We've traveled past the area on so many of occasions, but never at the right time to ensure that we…read morecould stop and try the winery out. This time we were planning a trip to the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, OH for the weekend. We planned it perfectly to allow us to stop here first when they open up. When we arrive, it's like most wineries that we've ever been to, it's in the middle of no where, long drive on back roads, which always tells us this is going to be good. :) We arrived and as soon as you see the location of the winery, it's breathtaking, as it sits on a hillside and oversees the area of beautiful nature, it's incredible. They have seating as you arrive in the front of the winery, on the side in a shaded area and in the back, in which where we preferred. They have several large areas around the property where they grow their grapes at on the property. The owner was very sweet and nice, as I like to ask too many questions, but she was kind and provided me some feedback. Majority and if not all of the wine is sourced from the estate directly. Some of the grapes they had to outsource because of a bad growing season and or they aren't planting any longer. Importantly enough they stay local in Ohio, but one of the grapes they obtain from New York. Moving on about the important part is the wine. We both tried our own flights, I had the Chambourcin, Country Ridge, Terra Red and Crooked Creek. They were all very good. The Chambourcin is a dry red aged in an american oak barrel, and has an amaging taste. The Red is a blend of two different red wines and my favorite, and the Country Ridge was another favorite as it was an off-dry red. My wife loved the white wines. The wines were all excellent. This was our first stop and didn't want to leave, that's how nice it's here. These are the type of wineries we enjoy stopping at. I asked the owner how long they've been here. She said interesting story that they've been here officially 27 years, but opened up 4 years after purchasing the property and planting the grapes. It allowed the grapes enough time to actually be prepared enough to make an estate wine. She said when they seen the property was for sale and it was 1200 acres, they purchased 55 acres, signed the paperwork and 3 days later they owned the property. What an amazing story they have. This is a special place to visit and indulge on the wine. She also made a recommendation on a restaurant in Wooster, OH that we took her up on her recommendation, and she was right, it was awesome. I highly recommend visiting this establishment. So worth it. One more thing the name of the winery, why Terra Cotta? I didn't ask but should have. One cool thing is when you are served a cheese board and or anything it's all on a terra cotta material. Very cool. How about the prices, they're right to the point.

Driving out to the vineyard, you will experience beautiful views and then you will be rewarded once you get inside. Plenty of parking outside and the winery looks out on their rolling vineyards. Terra Cotta is owned by a couple who have been making wine for a while. The winery has been open for 17 years, but their experience extends beyond that. We went early on a Friday afternoon and since it was slow, we had an opportunity to chat with the owners. I was impressed with their participation in local community events and their connections to other wineries around Ohio (they know the owners of several). They were set up for a nighttime event on the day we were there and they do Paint and Sips occasionally as well. Although you won't get Terra Cotta wines at the big Ohio Wine Fest in Kirtland or the North Market Wine Fest in Columbus, it's worth the drive out there to try out the wines and find one you like. They have everything from sweet to dry. Our favorite was the Terra Red, so we bought a bottle. My only regret is that we didn't get to try all of their wines, but we were on a road trip, so we just sampled this time around. Hopefully we can get back there soon!

We arrived right when they opened, and the owner, Craig, gave us one of the best wine tasting experiences we've ever had. He took the time to explain wine in a way that made the whole experience so much more enjoyable and personal. I'll admit, my husband was hesitant when we first pulled up because the outside doesn't immediately scream "winery," but I told him to trust the process. I'm so glad we did because we ended up bringing home a case of wine with nine different varieties because we couldn't pick favorites. We loved them all. Craig also told us about their wine and food pairing dinners, which sound amazing, and his wife Candy does the meal pairings. We're already talking about getting a group together and making another trip back. Bonus: they also have a very sweet dog named Cooper who was the perfect winery greeter!

I figured at least we'd get a good story out of it. But when we got in, we were greeted by Craig and Candie who are the "mom and pop" of this mom and pop winery! Craig led us through the tasting of about 7 wines, and he shared historical information about WV wine country, grape lineage and history, the politics of wineries in WV, and most importantly what makes a "perfect wine". Suffice it to say we learned A LOT! And the wine was great too! We walked away with 6 bottles (they can't ship), and we plan to go back next time we're in town!

I have brought several of my grape wine loving friends to Dutch Creek and they all leave pleasantly surprised with purchased bottles in hand. Love this winery's location too. Enough away from the hustling college town to provide a calm and pleasant experience, yet very convenient to the local restaurants to make for a lovely first course to your evening's meal. I can't say enough good things about this unique winery. Their bee to bottle process rivals any other wineries I've visited, which includes those of Germany and Italy that we have enjoyed.
