I've been buying flowers from them for about a month now. (The secret to keep your flowers alive longer is to add a cup full of vodka to cold water and an ice cube). I change my water on a daily basis using this method and my flowers last a full 7 days). We also stopped at Nate's to get coffee. I got a cold brew with foam and a shot of toasted marshmallow. My friend got a drip coffee and a bagel with spinach artichoke spread. She said it was really good but on the messy side to eat. I also picked up a jar of carrot cake jam from salad days. There were jewelry booths, that included homemade soap, vegetables fruits, baked goods , fresh pasta, different condiments and spices, rubs, beer, cheese, and assortment of beef, chicken,pork, farm fresh eggs and so on. It was busier than normal today but I think that had a lot to do with people graduating and the fact that the previous weekend was derby so people were out of town. The people selling fresh flowers were extra busy because tomorrow is mother's day. We saw a variety of dogs too which is normal. I like that the main area of the market is sheltered so you have protection from the weather elements and shade for when it gets hot in the summer.

Not only did they rob me of my neck and giblets and cut out a chunk of the turkey, most real farms include herbs from their garden for brining. This heritage turkey had absolutely no flavor of game to convince me it was raised wild. I have prepared and roasted goose, duck, and wild turkey for over 20 years for my family, and this farm is not authentic. They are a mass prouder that can't keep their facilities straight enough for quality control! Hello Via, Thanks for your message, I am thinking you are not finding the bag of giblets in your turkey? We use a local USDA butcher to process all of our meats, and he packages the giblets and neck from each turkey and then adds them back into the cavity. We have never encountered a situation where the neck and giblets are missing, but it is not impossible, as each turkey is handled by a person, not machines. Winchester is full of gems, and this so happens to be one of them. I found it on Facebook and Mom and I headed over on a Saturday morning. I wish I hadn't went grocery shopping the night before because a lot of the items that I bought at the grocery were available here too. I guess that's the bad thing about coming to a Farmers Market on a spur of the moment. Note to self, make sure that I don't go grocery shopping before coming here. Items like cucumbers, green peppers, tomatoes, etc were all items that I spotted and would've snagged. Instead, I walked away with a few tomato plants. Yes, I know you're surprised... I'm growing tomatoes. The locals were socializing and I could totally sense that a lot people come here as a social thing in addition to scoring local homegrown goods.

The market was small during our visit (compared to the Louisville markets I'm used to), but the booths that were set up could cover all of your Saturday morning farmer's market needs. Plus, my sister-in-law said she's visited before, and it's usually larger, so I'm sure during the summer months you could visit this market and pick up anything you may need.
