We went to Eckert's Orchard for their Easter celebration! We'd never been before. Everyone was so friendly and they had a ton of stations set up for families. They had things ready for all ages. It was nice that they had a separate area for egg hunting and they requested that the children take up to 12 eggs each. They also had a face painting station, an area to feed animals, craft site, and more. My little one also loved the wagon ride! The large wagon took people on a tour of the farm. I had no idea how big it was and how many things they produced. We definitely intend to return in order to pick strawberries and apples. It was great, inexpensive fun for us and I can see this being a family tradition. read more

Kids tickets are double what an adult ticket is even if you're not using the playground. $3 for an adult, $7 for a child and this is only if you purchase online ahead of time, otherwise it's more. There's also a fee of .95 per adult ticket and 1.95 for children, so actually $9 for kids and $4 for adults. We were hoping to pick peaches (6 adults and 8 children) but at that cost, we're already near $100 before we even get any peaches. I have to say it's an awesome plaice to take family. It has plenty of things for kids to do. Right now is the best place to get your apple butter and also pick out your own pumpkin and apple from off the tree for the apple and fresh off the vine off pumpkin. You can also ride a camel . One hump so dromedary just saying. Lol There is a play place that looks like a ship. Then a huge slide for kids to slide down but not ADULTS jus to let you know. In case you want to slide down. I had so much fun picking berries & picking peaches. This is perfect for a solo trip or fun with the kids. It is super clean and kid friendly. As soon as you walk in there are freshly picked vegetables, locally baked goods & the seasonal fruit. Be still my heart. There is a petting zoo in the back and an area for the kids to drive their own little tractor. If you want to "pick-your-own" seasonal fruits you can hitch a ride on the tractor (very clean, & comfy I might add) and take a trip through the Orchard to pick whatever is in season. I came for the blackberries. Let me just tell you how delectable these giant pieces of heaven were. If you're a foodie like me, you can apppreciate the natural beauty of plucking that sweet jewel off the vine. 100% nature's candy. I felt like the little girl from Eastern Kentucky walking out to the berry bushes out behind the Church and popping one in my mouth then making sure there was no evidence for my Mom to freak out over cause I didn't wash it first! I'm blessed to be able to have this place so close to me. I can't wait for apple picking time. I believe I made 12 jars of blackberry jam ( 1/2 with seeds and 1/2 without) which I will be gifting to close friends and family. Just go y'all. Drove from over an hour away after hearing they don't cancel for rain, only storms, on their message when someone calls. Got there and it was sprinkling a bit so they told us they were holding off for the moment because of rain. After nearly two hours and the skies being blue and clear we asked when they would be opening back up and then they finally told us they would be closing for the day. They had every opportunity to tell us that but instead let us wait for close to two hours with three small children. Do not believe their message that they don't close for rain, bc they closed down for the day due to a bit of sprinkling. What is worse is that they never were upfront about closing for the day and let us waste nearly two hours. We come here yearly but we will not be back after this lack of customer care. On the way to another orchard now, who isn't closing when it's beautiful outside. read more

This used to be my go-to pumpkin patch for several years. It's a nice size location with lots of activities to choose, particularly for kids. However, they have become very greedy over the last couple of years. If you wish to hop on a tractor-pulled trailer to go out to a pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin, you now have to buy an all-inclusive, one-price-fits-all ticket that is $15-20 per person. If you have younger kids and want to enjoy all the activities on-site, this may be a good value. However, for adults or families with older kids that just want to enjoy picking a pumpkin and walk around the site, this is a terrible value. Their offering used to have many options where a person could opt to go for the all-inclusive ticket or just buy the trailer ride for a reasonable price. No longer!!!! Main problem- their website said they still had blackberries to pick. I knew it was late but the website said so. The not-too-friendly tractor driver thought I was picking apples which, by the way, are ready to pick. He wanted to drop me off there even though I was not picking apples. I was a good sport because mistakes happen. They offered me already picked blackberries, which after a parking lot tasting turned out to have basically no flavor and will need sugar and a prayer to use. I have always enjoyed coming here. The ONLY reason I'm giving for one star is to make sure you call the orchard before heading out. The website is unreliable. I will probably come back but take special care next time. read more

They are dog friendly and we took both of ours inside. They have picnic tables in the grass out front to sit and relax or have a beverage that they sell inside. What a fun experience! My son and I went to see the sunflowers and pick blackberries. We visited on a weekday, which was great because there weren't many people there. You take a tractor-trailer ride to the sunflowers and blackberries. The sunflowers were beautiful and great for photos. And it was fun to go through the rows of blackberries to pick. They have massive play areas for kids, but obviously with COVID, they are closed. But seem like kiddos would have a blast (post-COVID). read more

Out back there are several activities offered for the kids along with wagon rides and camp fires at night the whole family can enjoy. Covid style - orchard trip. They asked you to wear a mask but the kids rarely had them on. I did not see anyone cleaning or monitoring any of the areas. We've come here several times for strawberry picking, apple picking & of course pumpkins in the fall! They have a large market with produce from the orchard as well as other fresh and local items and even gifts. Be sure to take home a pack of their cider donuts! Eckert's is a great place for a family outing and it can get VERY crowded in the fall around Halloween. They did a great job this year with COVID-19 precautions- requiring masks & setting up hand sanitizer. I removed one star because while they have a great and large play area, it can get pretty pricey as both adults and children are required to pay to enter. read more

Autumn is a fun time to be a big kid traipsing through the pumpkin patch! Having partially grown up on a farm with fruit bushes and an orchard, pumpkin picking is an annual adventure I rather enjoy. As an adult my prerogative is to go at the last minute and enjoy a plump, fresh pumpkin for a whole week rather than letting it shrivel and cave in on itself over the course of a whole month. As a marketer with a keen eye for experiential components, there was much left to be desired at Eckert's. It was like pulling teeth trying to figure out where the ticket booth was ("Is the Fun Corral ticket booth the same as the pumpkin picking ticket booth?") and where to checkout when the pumpkin picking checkout booth was empty. When we were dropped off at the patch, we had no expectation of when we'd be picked up, or a schedule of how often the tractor ran. It was a mess. Had I been with a child or children, my annoyance would have quickly spiraled into frustration. It was just an ok experience, but the pumpkins were priced fairly and the indoor market is AWESOME. I'm impressed with their innovation to get people in the door by setting up bonfire sites, and it was cool to see all the blackberries in the vine, orchards primed for next season, and strawberry fields getting plowed. And CIDER DONUTS! Get them. Thank me later. read more

I must say, I was really disappointed in how things have changed. It does not have the family feeling it once had. It seems more corporate and stiff. When it was family owned and operated, you could feel it. The friendliness and the genuine smiles...to me that goes a long way vs someone walking around like they hate their job and do not care to be there. We were there for a field trip with our daughters class and it didnt feel very welcoming. It was more like a robot directing us in what to do next and where to go. The way they did the pumpkin patch was completely different and some what disappointing for the kids. Every year we have always been able to take the kids into the actual pumpkin patch area and the kids would get so excited to go find their perfect pumpkin off the vine. This time, the pumpkins had already been pulled and were placed in a grassy area for the kids to stumble through and majority of the pumpkins were mirror images of the one next to it...no fun in that! read more

Coworker had brought in doughnuts by this brand and I cannot write that I liked them through and through. I had a problem with the texture of them. The chew was kind of gelatinous, probably due to the apple cider; however, the taste was not bad. The best doughnuts, I have come across, are Dunkin for texture; however, I do not even eat doughnuts from there that frequently. In fact, my favorite are Krispy Kreme. What I am trying to write is is that it is not a bagel (score of 0) just because I dislike the texture; however, it had a unique one. A nice little pumpkin patch to visit with the whole family. During the few weeks before Halloween, this place gets pretty crazy. But it's not super huge. You can literally walk to their pumpkin patch in just a few minutes. If nothing else, it's worth it to visit just to get a photo in the big chair. So glad we came here! We were looking at coming to another farm but had negative reviews regarding lack of Covid safety precautions. I'm quite happy with things here. There are several sanitization stations and a requirement to wear masks. I feel like it's not crowded and there are plenty of things to do! The letting farm is closed but the animals are still out. Lots of climbing and play for kids, a wagon ride is included, and a corn maze! There is a haunted wagon ride that is also included that starts around 8 pm. And there a fire pits, they actually light and tend to your fire for you! So glad we came here! read more

Went apple picking for the very first time ever and had such a great experience. The only downside was that, they were only one kind of apple to pick from. I had the Enterprise apple - it was super delicious. Eckert's have a huge pumpkin patch as well. Had the apple cider and the apple cider Donuts. Hands down the best! I've not been here for any other season, other than the fall. It was somewhat of a fall tradition when my daughter was little. We would take the hayride over to the corn maze area, and have dinner. There would already be a bonfire going when we got there. We would always be with a group, so I'm not quite sure if they had most of it set up already, but it was always a fond, fall memory. We didn't actually ever pick a pumpkin, they would have several to choose from out front. That's about as a close to picking and farming that I get, sorry folks. Great place! We've been during the pumpkin season, which is terrific; but went today to let the 4-year old play, grab lunch & buy fresh veggies & fruit. The playground is just right for a little one & it being an off day meant no crowds. He wanted a picnic, so we had grilled cheese, a hot dog, and a BBQ sandwich, all with fresh made chips. Boyd's kept this up better than the new owners. I have been getting apples here for years to make my own apple butter. But since the new owners have been running it it has become a chore to get what I need because no one can tell you if the apples you want are available on the phone. I stopped here for lunch at the Apple Blossom Cafe on my way from Lexington to Louisville after finding out about it from a local guide magazine whatnot in my hotel room. I forget what specifically was on my sandwich, as it has been a few weeks, but it was ham and cheese with apple slices on it. DELICIOUS. Used to come here before Eckert's bought it out and made it into a commercial catastrophe. You can no longer walk out to the pumpkin patch or the apple orchard because it's a "safety hazard?" Honestly riding on a rickety old wagon sounds a lot less safe than walking on my own two feet but who knows. As long as you're paying them more money, everything is good if you want to slide on a big slide and not actually see any pumpkins growing or apples or have an authentic fall experience this is the place for you! read more
