I will say that Lex was hospitable and fast, the service only took about 30 minutes. However it was disappointing on so many levels, starting with the tacky fake plants outside. The bathroom was cute and clean, but as I walked back to the appointment room there was a bunch of junk stacked by the wall, and the appointment room was brightly lit with uncomfortable paper bedding. I am used to wax spas using nice soft linens. When my wax was over she left the room and did not offer me any sort of wipe to clean up with (as is customary in my experience) and also missed quite a lot of hair in the back. When I met her at the register and told her about this she did offer to go back in and fix it, but I really didn't want to bother with going back into that gross room and undressing again. Typically at a wax spa you would be offered a hand mirror to check before they actually leave the room and have you get dressed again. I was also disturbed by the fact that there wasn't a sink or even hand sanitizer in the room. I can only hope that she was going into the bathroom between clients to wash her hands but who knows! Anyway, definitely would not return. Not for me.

I called on Tuesday night and she got back to me the next morning via text to schedule an appointment for the following day. Her place is not hard to find, on the 2nd floor above Starbucks in Legacy Village. Parking meters not expensive- I just put a quarter in for 30 minutes. Upon arriving, Laila greeted me and was very nice. She asked if I had had threading before or if it was my first time and I explained that I have been threading for 2 years now. She had me lay down on her table and I explained that I wanted my eye brows kind of thin but since my eye brows are kind of straight I wanted a small arch towards the tail end. She worked very quick and paid attention to plucking the stray hairs. After she was done she showed me a mirror to look and if i wanted any changes she could do it as well. I am very happy about the threading and how my eyes turned out. Just for this one session it was $27. Granted it is waaaayyy more expensive than what I'm use to (I paid $7 + $3 tip in Houston) I would recommend Laila's business to any lady who's interested in getting threaded.

Sugar Haven is close to work so I decided to give it a try. I was able to get a same day appointment (around the holidays too!) which was much needed. The place is nothing fancy, just bare bones. This was my first sugaring experience. I had my lip and chin done. The pain is no different than waxing, a little less probably. The cool sugar is soothing as opposed to the hot wax that can burn. There are no strips, just a ball of sugar that is almost rolled over the area. It's not a "one and done" pull like with waxing. There are some areas that take a couple passes, but it's not like in waxing where the more rips the more pain. The redness was the same as waxing but disappeared sooner. Kyarra did my sugaring and she is a good soul. I will return for my in between waxes when I can't get into my regular place. However, when I set up my appointment for my touch up the receptionist was unpleasant to deal with. She called me three times while I was at work to ask if I could move my appointment up. In response I told her IF I could make that I would let her know within the hour but if I did not call her then we would have to stick with my original time. This spa sends out text messages as reminders of appointment times. I received a message she had moved my appointment up so I used my lunch break to take the trip out to the spa. When I checked in the receptionist asked me why I was there because my appointment wasn't for another hour. She told me that she only sent that message in HOPES that I would call her. Extremely unprofessional, disorganized and inconvenient. I take a drive of 55 minutes to get to this specific spa. I had to sit there and wait an hour and a half for my appointment which was supposed to be with Cheyenne but it was not. Cheyenne has to go home early that day which is understanding. Things pop up and I'm understanding of that. The woman who did my lashes was new and took longer than expected. At this point I didn't mind as long as my eyelashes were done correctly (spoiler alert: they were not). At the end of my appointment the receptionist offered me an eyebrow wax "it looks like" I "could use it". The most unprofessional rude service I've ever had. I was so disappointed and irked by this situation. The picture uploaded is less than a week after my appointment date. Cheyenne came in to check on my lashes before she rushed out and kept telling the woman doing my lashes to get new glue. The way this was poorly handled really depreciates a business incredibly quickly. If anyone has a suggestion for a new lash place let me know ASAP!

I can't believe how kind and professional she is, even to someone who is new to the process and asks TONS of questions like me! She made sure I wasn't uncomfortable and that the sugar wasn't pulling on my skin. She gave me specific instructions to follow before my first appointment to help me be best prepared for the procedure. Her directions for exfoliation were thorough and clear; and this is a key step to having any hair removal procedure to avoid skin irritation and ingrown hair. I'm excited to keep going and see the hair growth diminish on my legs. I get horrible razor burn, so this has been the best thing for me. Christina is happy to help with any other skin questions I have, giving suggestions of things to avoid and things to try that I already have at home... Never trying to just upsell me, she has offered me a few samples to try before buying a full-sized product from their showroom. The Spa has such a calm and peaceful atmosphere, as well. So much so that I look forward to spending a couple hours having my legs sugared, even though it isn't the most pain-free experience! (It does hurt a LOT LESS than regular waxing, however!)
