I found out that my apartment had bedbugs three months ago. Contacted Black Widow, apartment owner paid $2,000 for treating the apartment (600 square feet unit). We followed all instructions (boxed all belongings, etc.). We had several treatments, and after every treatment, more bedbugs appeared. Sometimes there was a week or so of no activity. After a few treatments, Black Widow did an inspection and deemed the apartment "negative". Within a couple of weeks, my five year old daughter had bites on her arms. I contacted Black Widow and I was told that since they deemed the apartment "negative", my daughter has allergies. Or mosquitoes, or something. A week later, I caught a live bedbug and notified Black Widow. I was asked if I have a photo of the insect. Apparently, unless you take selfies at 2am with the intruder, the intruder does not exist. After I insisted, they agreed to do another treatment. Within a week after the last treatment, I caught 5 live ones in one night alone. Decided to hire another vendor. Asked Black Widow to refund the apartment owner. They said that "there are no guarantees when it comes to bedbugs". They advised that they could do another treatment (billable) if I remove my couch. So, after three months and $2,000 later, not only was the issue not resolved. I have to spend thousands of $ on new furniture to qualify for a new "treatment". The new vendor offered a 90 days guarantee after the final treatment, three weekly treatments and he only charged $762. Today, less than a week after the last treatment provided by Black Widow, the new exterminator found 23 bedbugs in the apartment... Stay away. read more

I called Black Widow for what I thought was a termite problem. They sent a technician to my house who did a very thorough inspection, taking pictures, examining my outdoor area and my basement. He sent the pictures back to the office to confirm his diagnosis of ants not termites. He was very polite, knowledgeable and informative. Very interactive. I then got a follow up proposal for treatment. As I have a lot of experience with ant infestations from a number of rental properties I own, I decided not to use Black Widow for my actual treatment. I can tell you, however, that their proposal was exactly what needs to be done and their price was more than fair. The owner called me later to see if I had any more questions. He had no problem with me trying to solve the problem on my own, and absolutely refused my offer to pay for the inspection, despite my insistence that he had really provided great value. THese guys are honest, competent and are by far the best pest control company I have ever dealt with, and I have hired a few in my years of property management. They will be my go-to service moving forward and I really can't sing their praises enough. 5 stars all the way!!!! Beware. Engaged there service for a clothes moth issue that was attacking my rugs and furniture. Was very specific about what rooms most affected. The problem never cleared up and he sent reports saying they had been eradicated. The traps he put out always had moths in them. One of the rooms he said was clear he hadn't been in for over 6 months(the problem is now out of control). After the last conversation he said I never mentioned moths even though I made calls and complained constantly. A room with the huge infestation he said he didn't go in because it was locked-the door does not have a lock. When asked what rooms he went in for the expensive monthly cost he only looked in 4 and never noticed the escalating problems. This is a large house and now entire closets of clothing had to be thrown out, Rugs removed and furniture taken out to fumigate. Another issue was spiders, that too has never been taken care of. From now on I'm going with a bonded, commercial company that will go into every room and look for problems that need to be addressed. If I could give negative stars I would!!!!! read more

I live in Columbia graduate housing, and Columbia sent in this company after my frantic 2am call letting them know I had spotted a mouse. Seeing it run out from under the couch I was working on to under my oven made me irrationally terrified, so it was pretty comforting to have Black Widow come out the very next morning. I wish I remembered the name of the fellow that came to our apartment. He was incredibly friendly and thoughtful. I was immediately struck by how happy he was, which is a weird thing to comment on, but given how weirded out I was that there was a mouse somewhere in my apartment it was nice to have some comic relief. He filled holes with steel wool I never would have noticed, and laid traps around the apartment in all of the most mouse-frequented locations along with a bit of bait from a some peanut butter he brought with him. He even asked if we had peanut allergies before busting it out, which I thought was very comprehensive. He talked to us for a while about what we should do if a mouse was caught, and how we can prevent mice in the future (this is our first one in three years of living in the city, so his tips were mega helpful), and then he was out!
