My mom was finding bees in her house, just a few at first but by the time October rolled around it was becoming a problem. She is getting a bit older and I usually take care of things around her house. Little did I know, she had a contract with a big pest control company, and they had refused to open her ceiling to find where the nest was! They told her she needed to find someone to open up the ceiling and then they would come and remove the nest. I was disgusted, cancelled the contract with her and called Village. Kevin answered my call, and told me for something of this nature he would come to the house himself. From the jump you could tell he knew exactly what he was doing. He found where the nest was in the ceiling, told us he was going to open up the ceiling to remove the nest. Then come back in a few days to patch the hole once the bees were gone. I was so shocked a nest of this size could be in the ceiling so I asked him to take a picture and he did. From start to finish he was truly a great guy and was so nice to my mother. I usually don't write negative reviews. In fact, this is the first one that I have written. However, since I rely on Google reviews to make decisions about services, I feel compelled. I signed up with Village Exterminating a year ago for monthly maintenance which included mosquito treatment and handling any pest issues that might arise. We are new homeowners with much going on and didn't pay too much attention to what the workers did when they showed up to spray and check the rodent stations. After two incidents where we had an issue with ants and pantry moths, I decided to start paying attention. To make a long story short, I had to handle both issues. Village Exterminating did nothing except to drop off moth bait stations (a week after I called) that were so old that they literally fell apart. The ant issue was never addressed at all with the owner claiming that he never received the message. On the monthly service, they did show up to spray around the house but only two of the bait stations were ever checked for activity. The others weren't touched. The termite stations were never inspected after installation defeating the whole purpose of attracting and then (after inspection to see if they are present) killing them. The mosquito treatment was only done twice even though we were paying extra every month for it. We were eaten alive all summer. I can't vouch for the responsiveness to a problem without a maintenance contract as I see that they get good reviews but we are happy that we canceled the maintenance service and do not recommend it. On a positive note, the guys who showed up were always very pleasant. read more

I contacted Village Exterminating through Yelp and spoke with Kevin to setup service to get rid of mice. They were great from start to finish. The prices are good too! Jose was our exterminator and has great customer service skills and he is very knowledgeable about mice. They even came back a second time at no charge to check the mouse traps they set in the basement. Would definitely recommend them to anyone. read more

I moved into a home in the wintertime and a few months later, I was overrun by carpenter ants. I tried counting all the ants I killed one day but lost track after 30 (!!). I called these guys on a saturday morning and they came over a couple hours later. Their pricing structure was easy to understand- you pay once and you're covered for 90 days for that treatment. At first I was a little concerned as the tech who came over only did a little spraying outside and a little spraying inside, but he explained everything to me- they try to use as little as necessary. He also did a thorough inspection of my basement and uncovered a nest (little did we know- it was ONE OF the nests!!!). The next few days were good and I only saw dead ants, but later in the week the ants were back but now in a different room. I called them again and they came out a few hours later without hesitation. This time they used baits and I had a few more days of dead ants, but the ants seemed to smarten up and stop going for the baits after a little while. Now that the two first floor rooms were taken care of, the ants decided to invade my bedrooms upstairs. Yuck. Called Village again, and this time they went nuclear- they sprayed every floorboard with a stronger chemical and told me that we should be good after 2-3 days. 2 or 3 days went by and we were still seeing ants upstairs, but after day 4... no more ants anywhere in the house. This was a month ago, and still ant free. I'm a HUGE fan of these guys. Gross tidbit- a couple weeks ago I went into the basement to get something and I saw a horror show. Hundreds, if not thousands, of carpenter ant carcasses. All dead. I googled it and apparently they push the dead ones out of the nest. Yuck. But clearly a great job by Village Exterminating!!! We had an ant issue and picked Village Exterminating because of their reviews. The initial ant issue was corrected. We paid to have the entire house exterminated and checked. We had worked done on the house and an ant colony was disturbed by a worker. Our guaranteed time had expired by two weeks, however Kevin did have Bill come back to check and spray again. However, when Bill returned he seemed annoyed having to return and very condescending. Two weeks later we noticed ants crawling on our house and found another colony. When we called Kevin again he refused to send another worker to the home free of charge. He said he already sent someone past the guarantee time and would have to charge us again. We explained to Kevin that was true, however the issue was not resolved, especially since Bill had just sprayed two weeks prior. He still would not come back without payment. We said why would we pay for your services again, when you did not take care of the isdue to begin with. read more

Had a wasp nest that needed to be removed. Graham was great! The service was quick and efficient. We noticed we had a couple of additional inactive nest in addition to the active one and Graham removed those as well at no additional cost. Cannot believe it! Vinny came to inspect my property as my kid found what he thought were termites under a rock in the front of the house. Village Exterminating was the third pest control company to come take a look and give me an estimate, the first two being Terminix and Orkin. Suburban was going to charge me $50+ for an inspection. Vinny's inspection was so much more thorough than the other two. He noticed that the house had foundation waterproofing (with a rubber membrane and foam boards) done and said that helps to prevent pests from getting in. He noticed evidence of mice getting into the house but he saw no current termite activity - AND SAID SO! He was knowledgeable and balanced and didn't pressure me AT ALL. He told me what a termite swarm looks like and when termites are active. They do not offer contracts for multi-year service but charge for setting the treatment bait fixtures and then monitoring them each year. SO MUCH MORE REASONABLE! How ethical is that?!?!?!
