Flight of beer at the bar.
Gregory B.

This is my favorite brewery in the Gainesville area. Chris Hart, one of the owners (the other being his wife) and brewmasters is normally on site and willing to converse about his Belgian inspired beers. Very Cheers feeling kind of place. No food, but they do have trucks regularly. Has an old world kind of feel, from the bar to the furnishings (lots of hard wood) and ample board games, including those outside of the standard American games most of us don't like any more. The brews brewed on premise are Belgian inspired and fit the styles fairly well enough. The name Blackadder fits, as most of the beers are higher in gravity/abv. I will note, despite the decor, the place is very family friendly and you do find families in the place. Overall, not an issue, but there was one time the parents were not parenting and nothing was said to the parents. Regardless of friendliness, I don't really think kids should be running amok in any establishment (other than a playground?), but a microbrewery seems a bit more inappropriate. I don't know if it is the vibe or the easy going nature of all of the people working there, but I feel at home when I go to Blackadder. Will definitely return.

The Imbeciles

This brewery provided excellent service at the bar, both friendly and responsive. The selection of beers was quite extensive and Torey was helpful in trying to find one that we liked. The house band, The Imbeciles, was playing the night we were there which was a wonderful addition to our experience. The band had a varied playlist with talented musicians and vocalists that really made them a joy to listen to. They also had several other interesting events listed on their calendar. Will definitely be back when in the area!

Service, selection of brews and wonderful atmosphere! Blackadder Brewery is the place you must visit in Gainesville. They have 20 of their own personal brews, various styles of guest taps (Belgium, IPA, Lager, Cider and more), wine and homemade soda too. There is typically a food truck but they also have some yummy snacks you can order from a menu too. The proprietor and brewer Chris has an extensive knowledge of beer and will make recommendations to suit your taste. His wife Sissy and staff are amazing too. Love this place!

The selection of toppings to add to the bloody marys were amazing!

I have been to Blackadder Brewery before for trivia but I came specifically with a friend on New Year's Eve afternoon because they were offering an all-you-can-drink bloody mary bar for $20.22. You can't beat the price and their selection of toppings was outstanding. They were perfectly spicy with black pepper, honestly some of the best bloody marys I've ever had. I love the family-feel of Blackadder, where the owners themselves are pouring your drinks. There's a plenty of tables, a fireplace, darts, and a large collection of board games. Plus the interior of this brewery looks like you've stepped back in time into a medieval pub. Please please please offer this bloody mary bar again! I can't wait to come back!

Great service. Great theming. Great product. A trifecta resulting in great experience. Venue specializes in Belgian beverages and delivers beyond expectations. Two thumbs up and will return.

A nice quaint brewery right by the Oaks Mall. When I was here over 15 years ago now, the options for beers were quite limited. I'm happy to have discovered that it has since changed! This brewery has a nice selection of home brewed beers and also guest taps in the taproom. I enjoyed their selection of sours and there are darts and other games for patrons. Wish there was food!

Every Friday they have a pizza food truck that has the best pickle pizza that I have ever had. For that alone, I would go. The brewery itself is really laid back and inviting. They often have trivia nights and host viewing parties for different sports. I'm not much of a beer drinker but they do have a really good blackberry cider that I enjoy. Hoping they have some other options that I enjoy in the future. It can get pretty busy but they have indoor and outdoor seating available. You can also go to the restaurants next door and bring food in. The crowd is also a little older, which I appreciate. I would definitely recommend going.

Not a bad beer in the house! 16 Gainesville craft beers, 24 other craft beers of the highest quality from around the world. The "Pub o'clock" vibe of the UK had made it to this corner of Gainesville and is not to be missed. Food trucks rotate through daily, and the staff could offer a tip-top pairing based on your tastes and the food of the night. With special live music events, weekly general knowledge (and special themed trivia with the best quiz master around), om and foam yoga classes, belly dancing classes, book club and a whole host of special events, there is something for everyone at Blackadder. There are even kid friendly homemade soda offerings! Chris, Sissy, Erin, Aaron, Chris, Harrison, BrewCat Ambassador Edmund and the rest of Blackadder Crew are the friendliest people you'll meet, doing all they can to help you find the best beverage for you!

Edmund the Pub Cat!!

I love this Brewery!!! Fun cozy environment, family friendly, and they support local charities monthly in the Gainesville community. Not a beer drinker like me? No worries!! They serve wine (red & white) along with homemade sodas. The owners and staff are friendly, fun & knowledgeable. Chris (owner & master brewer) always answers all my beer related questions, as I try to develop a palette for beer. Sissy (owner & mistress of events and all the other titles ) takes great pride and pours so much love into BBC. And it shows in all the fine details in decorating and event planning. Chris & Sissy have a great staff. Their welcoming atmosphere when you walk in is like walking into a friends house. Dogs are welcome in the garden areas but keep an eye out for Edmund the Pub Cat. He patrols the grounds and pub making sure all the patrons are doing fine! Your night is complete if Edmund honors you with his presence. ‍ Happy Drinking!

The outside area is spacious and a great place to hang out and drink a beer. Just a really nice setup with a laid-back vibe. Their Honey Bee Citrus Blonde Ale was the highlight for me. That beer has officially moved into my top 5. I could drink it all day and honestly, I pretty much did since I found it on tap at a few other places while I was in Gainesville. Now I'm hoping I can find it somewhere near me in Orlando. Overall, great brewery, great outdoor space, and an amazing beer. I'd definitely go back.

Parking was a breeze, and we arrived right at event start. The beer was fantastic, and mine even contained honey! Colby got the sugar and spice, and he loved it, and says it was "verrrrry good." I even got to share some of my stickers with the world, so thank you for a chill family day, my teen even enjoyed herself. We can't wait to return.

(I'll be honest, I may have actually shed a tear or two over it.) I was both excited and nervous to see what the new and "improved" LS would be like when it reopened (last week.) I was pleasantly surprised to visit tonight and see the spirit of the store captured with new whimsy and more AC than I've ever experienced at Satchels! The store portion is way smaller, but it's still just as fun. The space is more open and clean (without feeling sterile.) Anyone who has ever been there on a Friday or Saturday night knows just how needed that extra space is! The dining portion, while may technically be less tables, feels way more open. The tables are new and filled with collections (which are appreciated, especially since they lost the collection museum in the fire.) There is a sewing pattern table, a Polaroid table, a I phone screen table, a key table, a match book table, a cassette table, a bike chain table, and a couple more I couldn't view due to guests. The bar is flocked with completed puzzles and more whimsy. For those not familiar with Satchels or Lightnin' Salvage, Satchels is Gainesville's most local, funky, and delicious pizza joint, and LS is the fun shop in the back where you can meander through collections and interesting new yet vintage style toys; or simply have a drink while you wait for your table to be ready. There was a order at the counter component for food in the past, but in all my years of going I never took advantage of until tonight. Tonight I took advantage of it because 1. There was zero wait vs the (not bad for Friday at Satchels) 20 minute wait inside Satchels 2. I wanted to scope the new digs 3. I wanted to enjoy the live music 4. I wanted to enjoy the magic of their new AC. I know I've mentioned the AC twice now but this is probably the first time I've visited Satchels on a summer night and not sweat! The AC is amazing! Overall, It is not the old LS but it has many different great qualities. LS offers a cute and quirky store, nice bar area, it's own ATM (its cash only), and the ability to order Satchels pizza and salad more quickly. The food does come in to go containers and does lose a little of its magic in that, but it is still the same tasty food that put Satchels on the map.

I just wish I lived in Gainesville to watch the metamorphosis over time. I'll be back semi-annually, and I'll always go back to see how it has inevitably changed. There is also an irreverent gift shop with lots of fun stuff, and they also have live music on certain nights. Love Satchel's and Lightning.

Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

I tried to shake it off and wound up with a layer of salt on my plate. Most restaurant food is too salty for me as I cook at home low salt but this was crazy. I decided to try the Mac and cheese. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain. The waitress said she hears that a lot and she offered to replace our meal to go but we didn't take her up on that offer. The fish was great! And we loved the vibe of the restaurant inside and out.
