Filet Mignon and Pork Loin
Christopher S.

Hands down the best meal we have had in at least a year!!! Service is fast and very friendly! We were seated immediately and our waitress had a carafe of water waiting and quickly took our drink order. The drinks were really good and the bartender obviously knew what she was doing as my old fashioned was perfect and my daughter's espresso martini was fabulous! I ordered the filet mignon with grilled shrimp added. It came on top of cooked carrots and a bed of buttery mashed potatoes. It was perfect! Literally melted in my mouth! My daughter ordered pepper glazed pork loin or something like that and she loved it! We finished with their famous Crinkle dessert. If you've never tried this, it is an absolute must have! No idea how they make this but it's SO good! 5 out of 5 stars Blackboard! I'd give you 6 if they'd let me!!!

Very cute place. Apparently it is in a old school house. The food was very good. We had the Brie and berries appetizer, and they brought us more bread, which is always appreciated. The staff was so nice. We had a very young waiter and He was on it. It is a little off the beaten path, but worth the drive

Great list of wines available!

Great food, good service and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The Filet Mignon, Savory Pears appetizer and Turtle Cheesecake are incredible!

Salmon Wellington

Back again this year and tried the Salmon Wellington - so, so good. This has become a favorite annual stop for us and enjoy it each time. Service great as always!

Blackened Mahi Mahi

wow! Fun atmosphere. NOT fancy, but the food and drinks weee amazing. The blackened Mahi Mahi was amazing! Bursting with flavor! My husband Sirloin and pork meatballs were awesome. We had one with Walleye and she loved it. The scallops looked great. we shared an amazing cheesecake! This is not even close to where we live, but we WILL be back! Drinks were also tasty. This is truly chef food and I wouldn't be afraid to try anything on the menu. Staff is great and service was fast and friendly! Truly worth a visit!

crinkle

really good atmosphere, one of the only places in the area for REALLY GOOD FOOD. would be perfect for a birthday (and you could get the crinkle for dessert). was very pleased with my espresso martini and entree (pork tenderloin). Definitely recommend

There were 2 in our party. They accommodated our request to eat out on the screened seasonal dinning room even though we made reservations inside. We each ordered off the dinner menu and rate the price on the high end, but worth it as it was delicious and plentiful. Each took leftovers home for lunch the next day. They had lamp style heaters which made our experience warm had overhead string lights that made it cozy.

Skal recently refreshed their menu and it was so tempting that we didn't make it past the "Light…read moreDelights" and "Crunchy Stuff." This secret spot is our go to whenever we cross paths with the Perham and Detroit Lakes area. Per usual, they had a fantastic selection on tap. The atmosphere is casual and the air conditioning is crisp and cool. Now about these new menu items... one thing to keep in mind about Skal standards is that they make everything in house. The cucumber topping, the marinated mozzarella, the mushroom Tartine, and the tomato dill relish are all made on location with love. That means the cucumbers are zesty, the mozzarella is unforgettable, the mushrooms are an umami festival and the tomato relish is a surprise party of flavor!! None of these are your ordinary "stuff on toast" small plates. Again, after tasting all of these, we didn't have room for entrées. So naturally, we went to the crunchy stuff menu and ordered the Minnesota Nachos. They make the potato chips in house daily. It would be easy for them to just buy potato chips, but no, that is not good enough for their patrons. Then, after they make these wonderful potato chips, they pile them up with cheese and goodness and offer them with a side of garlic dill dip (which will want to take a pint of it home with you and the good news is that you can because that is also on the menu.) If flavors and great beer aren't reason enough, come for the great service! The owners and staff here are so great and friendly and tentative to the needs of everyone who stop by. A couple of tips for an amazing visit... Do call ahead to make sure they are open and do come early because they get packed (and you don't want them to run out of those awesome potato chips before you get there.)

Outstanding karaoke experience in the Fargo Moorhead Metroplex last night, Wednesday, January 14,…read more2026. This is the only karaoke place I know of in the area, and there are many, where karaoke starts at the reasonable hour of 8 PM. Children are allowed with their parents or legal guardians in Harold's until 9 PM, so please bring the family. I wanted to meet Harold, but he was probably getting so much needed shut eye, perhaps 6 feet under; may his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Anyway, back to life above ground , there were some singers whom I'm sure had many other gifts, and some singers with exceptional voices. The karaoke jockey, KJ, was friendly and did a good job encouraging applause and a good vibe. There were several notable duets by female female and male female, as well as many solos. This writer may have been the second oldest person in the bar, so he felt a wee bit out of place, but the waitress made him feel welcome as did a very friendly young man named Roman and his friend - - she had a beautiful single-syllable name but my memory is failing. There were pizza and jalapeño pickled eggs available, but this writer did not treat himself to either, so he can't rate the food.

I've really only have ever had beer or hop water, so I can comment on the drinks. They serve the Heggie's (frozen) pizza in a couple sizes, and that type of pizza always tastes good at a bar after a couple of drinks.

Stopped in at New York Mills newest "brew pub" Continental Divide on a Saturday afternoon…read more Traditionally speaking a brew pub is an establishment that brews their own beer and serves food made in house. This place doesn't actually brew their own beer which was a bit of a bummer. It is actually what I would call a taphouse. Nevertheless they have an insanely good tap beer list. There are many styles of beer to choose from sure to please any palate. They also offer craft cocktails on tap. The decor is beautiful. A very open, inviting, and comfortable space. There are a handful of tables in the front as you walk in and a bar in the back with an exposed kitchen beyond that. We ordered wings, nachos, and pizza. Wings were cooked nicely and the sauce was flavorful but not quite as described. Nachos had a beautiful presentation but were cold. Pizza was OUTSTANDING. This place is super new and has a good base going. I fully expect them ironing out some of the issues with the food. Staff were all very fun and friendly. Didn't have to wait to order food or drinks. I would absolutely visit this spot again as well as recommend

The poutine was SO tasty - it was unlike anything I've ever had, with such a fun Italian twist! This is a great small town find!

Where else can you get a big, fat, juicy omelet AND a spool of barbed wire? Right here, people. This is the real deal. I just sneaked this one in as fall was coming to a close. A friend of mine recommended it and we decided to check it out. Unbelievable drive through lakes area. We rolled up just as the sun was coming up. The doors weren't open, yet, but a kindly gentleman escorted us in through the laundromat (yeah, they have one of those, too!). Come to discover that the laundromat must be a popular way for the locals to get in and get coffee before the lights turn on. A bunch of ol' boys were shooting the breeze in the dark. But, I'm not here to go on like Garrison Keillor. Save that noise for AM radio. This is Yelp and I'm here to give you the heads up on this great little place. First impressions are important, and I have to say that I was impressed... VERY impressed, by the waitress. She was probably in her late 50's, early 60's, maybe. She presented herself very, very well. This is a woman who knows what time it is, and when it is time, it's time for business. She was as sharp as Army ASUs, and you could have set a watch by her work pace. When you see something like that, you know it's going to be a great experience. It's breakfast. So, we get the usual stuff. Some wheat, some birds, and some pigs. Cornfield has a couple menu items that let you fly around the farm. So, that's what I did. All great stuff! You can't go wrong, unless you have one of those vegan philosophies. It ain't going to mesh with your melon to go somewhere like this, if that's the case. A lot of rooster diners make so so coffee. These guys pour it smooth and sweet. No need to doll it up, just toss in an ice cube and blast that bean juice right into the arteries. Don't waste any more time, people. Look how many great reviews this place has. That's not magic, that's breakfast. You young men and women, climb into your ride and scoot on down to Cornfield. 20 years from now, you'll be talking about it. That's a promise. Who's giving you the straight truth? That;s right. "Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." - Lewis Carroll
