It's been difficult trying to find a welder in the PNW. I ran into the same issues a few people had with Home Advisor and Angie's List. There were tons of bogus businesses out there that left a horrible experience. I think Yelp has done exceptionally well directing me to the most trustworthy places in the last 8 years. I reached out to Brian about two frames on my coffee table that were literally warped and destroyed during a move. I explained to him what happened and sent photos him photos. He took care of the frame within less than 30 minutes and gave me an honest pricing. Brian was fair, friendly and patient. He did a great job and my wheels are able to stand up correctly on the table. I'm looking forward to returning so he can fix an issue with my bed. read more

I went with my food processor base which got detached from its place people around advised me to buy a new one instead of welding but blackened hammer helped me welding my old stainless steel base beautifully for just $30 it was really nice of him. We had some heavy duty Stainless Steel restaurant shelving that was other wise in decent shape except for some poor welds that held it together. Bryan was able to come up with clever solution to fix the shelves and prevent corrosion where there were moisture issues at ferric components. Saved us having to buy new shelving. We bought a nine foot metal mirror from Second Use that was pulled out of a Nike store and we needed to have 8" cut from the top so it would fit in our son's room. After trying and failing to find someone via Angie's List, I tried Yelp and found Bryan at Blackened Hammer. We quickly found a date/time that worked and he completed the work while I waited. I appreciated the fact that even though he is a craftsman and artist, he was still willing to help us out with a simple, utilitarian project. And it cost exactly what he said and took exactly as long as he said it would take. We are now planning on having him create steel legs for another project that we have been puzzling over and hope to eventually have him make an outdoor wood and steel bar. It turns out Bryan's shop is also adept at carpentry projects, too. I looked thru the shop's portfolio while I was waiting and they do everything from custom railings to benches to tables and sculptures.
