This is the WORST bank on the planet. Please go ANYWHERE but this bank. I would throw my money in the garbage before ever stepping foot inside the door of this asinine facility. 1 star only because it doesn't let you choose 0 read more

New staff new ceo. Was threted by a lawyer for telling the truth on them. This is what i get for calling them out for berating me and my autistic son for nearly half an hour in front of 7 or 8 customers. Refused my sons money for that time yelled out his security code. And when I asked for something to be done I got the run around. 6 days later ceo spoke to me she ms N R. Got nasty told me get a lawyer and theirs would speak to me Hung up on me because her employees were Bing nasty not us. I have audio of the entire event many from all our conversations and sent them one so they knew I did. This is what I got. Then they refused to close my account until I filed a c9mplaint with department of financial institutions. Then and only then did the lawyer contact me asked me to drop it nope. I wont. Nor did I. Not a smart lawyer in his wording to not tell anyone. Freedom of speech civil and consumer rights. And denying or profiling an autistic man's caregiver is also a violation of the federal disability act. I was profiled for being a dad. Refused to de-escalate by simply checking my accounts. Nope berate us. And the employees who did this were never reprimanded. Reason. Went in 3 days later to get cashiers check for my property tax I said I need a money order teller same one rudely says its a cashiers check rolled his eyes. So that right there says they did absolutely nothing read more

Blackhawk Credit Union - Here is the letter I received. For asking for them to apologize - Banks & Credit Unions Near Me - Janesville, Wisconsin

You leave your money in a bank for it to make money, not lose money. But not this one. They will invent fees to take your money. $5 a month for an account they consider "dormant?". That means they have your money and you are leaving it with them. What do they do? Take it for no reason. How much should it cost them to sit on your money when they won't even send out statements without charges? This type of bank is supposed to support regular people. They don't. Big banks are FDIC backed and transparent about their fee. Avoid!! read more

Went to set up a business checking account after banking there personally for a few years already. I just filed for my LLC a week ago and I'm trying to get things off the ground. They told me all checks I deposit in the first 30 days have a 9 day hold period. Are you freaking kidding me??? that's damn near 2 weeks. It takes a day or 2 tops for them to have a check clear. And honestly they have the technology to check it in realtime if they want to. Really trying to help the little guys, huh? read more

Too many roadblocks! Etiquette training for younger employees would be a plus. They are out of touch with handling questions with clients over 50! Bank manager at East Milwaukee St branch was more interested in having all her staff in her office at the end of the day then coming out and talking with my elderly father. Needless to say, account closed and money moved to Johnson Bank. Highly recommend Johnson if you are unhappy at Blackhawk. Blackhawk is not as great as they once were. Or, as great as they think they are. Seems they've lost touch with older clientele. read more

Stay away from Blackhawk Credit Union, based in Madison, WI, at least for auto loans. They charged me over $2k for forced placed property damage auto insurance for no good reason. There was never any gap in coverage with my own insurer, I subsequently proved that to them via documentation, and they still refused to release it after I proved to them that there was no gap. I tried filing the proof of insurance online but could never get their website to accept my filings, so I finally had to send those by mail. I gave them not only declarations pages but copies of the entire insurance pages, and they said that neither was enough. Their consumer web page is also the most over-secured and difficult to use one I have ever encountered after experiencing no such problems over half a dozen other financial institution sites which I have used in the past. I would give them zero stars if that was an option. read more

Ask to talk to a member advisor and they will question you extensively WHY you want to see a member advisor. Even if your answers satisfy them, member advisors usually not available until the following day or even later. Have a problem? They are quick to say "Can't help you." So different from when they opened this branch on the South side of Janesville WI. They used to be welcoming but now, even after more than 5 years of frequently this branch only, they don't even know your name. read more

They have policies they do not let you know about until you see money being moved around your accounts and ask them why they are doing that. It is stated nowhere in the contract I signed. They are not transparent with their customers and are rude. read more

I last reviewed BHCCU 12 years ago, gave them 5 stars and, even though I live in Seattle, I vowed to never leave them. I still live in Seattle and I still bank with them. With their app, I can easily make check deposits. If I need cash, I get cash back during a shopping purchase to avoid ATM fees. If I have any questions or need anything, I give them a call and their super friendly staff lends me a hand. I've been a member for 30 years and plan to be a member for 50 more. I love 'em! read more

Service was great. They did a lot for me to get an auto loan. My only complaint is that their website is very hard to navigate. I am 21 years old - so familiar with technology. Their site was very aggravating & I ended up giving up. I couldnt even find my account number..... read more

Oh my Gosh Where do I start? There are so many good things. I was looking for a new place to start a checking account. My girlfriend suggested a credit union. So I said what do we have in Janesville. I searched on the internet. I found BHCCU. I decided to give them a call. Jean who now has retired said come in. We made an appointment. She asked why I was coming to BHCCU? I told Jean about my bad experience at Johnson Bank. The bank mgr was mad & wouldn't let me close my account. I had to go to another location. Jean set me up. I'm telling you this is the best move I ever made in my entire life. Jean made the transaction so easy. It was ridiculously easy. I said why didn't I ever do this before?? Then Jean talked me into paying bills on line. I was a little leery. I said I'll have to think about it. I called about 2 weeks later. I spoke to Jean & I came in for another appointment. Jean made it so easy to understand. So I went home & tried it. It saves a lot of time; mailing bills & postage. Again the greatest move I ever made. Everyone i have dealt with Beth & Julie (Credit Cards). Jackie Fox & Lisa helped me so much. None of their help is ever forgotten. They are so knowledgeable & kind. They are more great assets to BHCCU. Then there is Jeff. I had called BHCCU several months before searching for a newer vehicle. Whoever I talked to said they couldn't finance me. I really wanted to give BHCCU my business. So I started looking in like June I think 2019. I called & Jeff answered. I explained I drive to Madison to work. My vehicle is on its last leg. So he started searching. A couple he found were a great price. They were up to high. I have bad knees & needed something lower & easier for me to step in. After his hard work of searching He found me a vehicle in Beloit. I was suppose to look at it after work. I had a flat on my van. I called Jeff & explained my situation. He had me call Pierre at Bryden Motors. We made plans to meet the next day. Bryden motors accommodated me as well as Jeff. I explained to Jeff I need about a $200 month payment& low mileage. I've been socking money away for a down payment. Jeff said we can finance you. He checked my credit. He says you made all of your payments on time. I can't thank Jeff enough for his hard work & the wonderful vehicle he found for me with a low payment & low mileage. This letter is way overdo! Last but not least is Glen & Kathy in Wealth Management. Kathy is so explicitly nice every time she answers the phone. Glen has been so helpful. I'm so glad the team moved to BHCCU. I don't know what I would do without them. They helped me with questions I didn't understand from my Pension & My 401K. I received papers to fill out & didn't understand what I needed to do. Honestly I don't know what I would've done without all of you. Jackie Fox; Lisa; Jeff; Glen & Kathy; Beth Lang has helped me & Julie several times. Hats off to you all of you at BHCCU. This entire letter is long overdo. Before anyone complains; maybe they are the ones having a bad day. People like to call in & complain cause they're having a bad day. Love all of you. I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day. read more

fter years of being a member at this CU and I cannot believe how they can treat you when you speak with them. They do not listen to the member and refuse to take the time to understand what is going on. Do not believe the concept of 0% fraud liability, they will do their absolute best to find a way to avoid assisting the member. They will not take the time to consider the situation, allow you to try and figure out what is going on, listen to you, or better explain the situation. After three weeks of trying to speak with them, I finally reached them to fill out my paperwork and was told I am 100% responsible unauthorized charges by an unauthorized person. I wouldn't waste your time or your even the $5 that it costs to have an account with them. read more

I also no longer live in southern Wisconsin. I moved to Missouri three years ago and still bank with BCU. I really have had no bad experience with them in decades of banking with them. read more

Horrible customer service. Went on a weekend trip. Called to notify of travels so I could use my debit card. Arrived in Delaware, from Wisconsin and card is declined. Spent an hour on the phone to get taken care of. On the way home...card declined. Another hour on the phone. Customer service told me everything should work fine. Hey thanks for leaving your members stranded. Sounds real friendly. read more

If you live next door to a BHCCU then maybe you won't have a problem. I financed a vehicle through them, paid it off with no problem, they never released my lien in the system and never mailed my title. When I called to inquire, about it, the only way to update anything was to come in in person to update my mailing address and/or come in to set-up online access where I then update my information. I was able to get my car titled in another state (without going into the branch) and they were supposed to close the paperwork (lien and mail my title to me). Over a year and an half later, they still had not done either. When I spoke to someone again they noticed their mistake but refused to expedite my title to me. Saying quote " Not at our expense, you would have to send us a payment in order for us to use expedited mail". Seriously!!!! Talk about customer service and adding insult to injury. I would NEVER use them again for anything!!!! Hopefully I get my title :( and lien removed. read more

I am a believer in credit unions. I belong to at least three (I'm not sure at this moment exactly how many as another merger is happening). Credit unions make mistakes like any other financial institution, but they tend to give those folks starting out a little more help, and usually those folks who've been around some help, too. My only gripe with BCCU was a lame experience at the Janesville branch by The Home Depot, when I went in to convert a pile of change into a cash deposit. I approached the counter with my bag of coins, but was told to go to the machine and follow the prompts. OK, so, nobody is waiting behind me and the two "service agents" behind the counter couldn't offer more assistance than a finger point? I'm not stupid, but the machine's interface was a bit overwhelming for a first-timer (the coloring being monochromatic and busy), but I got it to work. No receipt came out as it should've and I had to bear more "great" service from one of the staffers to get that done. Ugh! Why was I feeling like an idiot? Oh, yeah, they probably saw me driving up in my non-GM vehicle. I'll go back there when I'm driving a GM (the one that can last 18 years and go 275,000 miles...like my Honda). BCCU Edgerton has been great to me...maybe they haven't seen my Honda! read more
