My husband and I were doing some spring cleaning and had to get rid of some burned out light bulbs. This Rona location takes them. They have some boxes by the entrance for light bulbs (CFL and fluorescent tubes), batteries and leftover paints. Since you can't throw out these items with your regular garbage, it's handy to know where you can offload them. Since we were already there, we poked around a bit. Rona is the type of store that my husband and my dad like. Me, not so much, haha. Their prices are the same as Home Depot and Lowe's. The store wasn't too busy on a Saturday morning. It gets busier later in the day, especially in the Spring and Summer months. Lots of free parking available. (96)

I'm a fan since they are close to home. I'm a fan of their competitive pricing, and getting 5 free cuts at the shop next to the sheet goods. I'm a fan of their no-nonsense return policy. The staff is friendly and helpful, although some seem to be there in body, and not in spirit - that's actually a good thing, as I don't expect humans to behave as robots.

Very disappointing experience - would not recommend…read more I ordered a quartz kitchen countertop from The Stone Fabricator Inc., and the entire experience was frustrating from start to finish. When visiting the showroom, it was difficult to get any assistance -- you basically have to walk around on your own and make a selection without clear guidance or information. The installation was extremely poor. The joint was bright white on a grey countertop, visibly uneven, and yet they marked the job as complete and "satisfactory." I had to complain and send photos before they admitted it wasn't done properly. When they came to "fix" it, they simply tried to even it out and used a marker to darken the white joint. I had to complain again before it was finally corrected. You need to monitor every step closely, because they will leave the work unfinished if they can. Each time they sent someone -- whether it was a representative or even the owner -- the attitude was arrogant and condescending. They kept offering excuses: saying the installers were apprentices, that the supervisor was on vacation, or even that the person fixing the color was color-blind. Instead of taking responsibility, they tried to make me feel unreasonable for expecting professional standards. After all the issues, they didn't even offer a small discount or apology for the time, frustration, and repeated visits required to get a basic level of quality. There are many countertop specialists in Ottawa -- save yourself the stress, poor service, and excuses. You'll likely end up with a repaired product and still pay full price.

I hired the Home Depot to install a new toilet in November 2023. The home depot sub contracts toilet installs to another company (Quick Contractors). They sent a guy with no experience to install the toilet. The installer installed the toilet incorrectly and on an angle. The toilet leaked and caused thousands of damage to the floor and ceiling below. I have been given the run around from Home Depot and Quick Contractors to repair the damage. These two big companies decided to pass off all responsibility to the installers private insurance who has been ignoring my emails and calls. I have informed both companies there has been no progress or resolution in site. The contractors private insurance has claimed they have not accepted fault for the damage yet, even though it has been made clear the installer was at fault. A 2nd installer was sent out from Quick Contractors to reinstall the toilet and report back on what caused the damage. The 2nd installer clearly stated the leak was from improper installation and took pictures. Attached are photos of the toilet installed on an angle and the water leaking out of the base soaking a drop cloth. If you think hiring a big company like Home Depot will have your back with any warranty issues think again. My house is supposed to be on the market for sale but will be delayed until the repairs are final.

Well... I live close to here, went through a move. So, of course I need this place here and there…read more It is nice and small. I cannot stand the big box hardware stores. I don't know how to find what I need, too much stuff. Too many huge aisles. This location, I always get a great parking spot in front as it's never busy. In late summer, I remember coming here also to grab corn and other fresh farm things from a stand in the lot. Handy. Yummy. The down side here is that there is no one asking if you need help and staff at the register are not that knowledgeable. It's also very expensive. Selection not great (even re light bulbs) BUT, they do have some unique things that I've only seen here. Some in housewares, would make great gifts. I grabbed the mug I took a pic of below as an example. Anyways, I've bought many an item here and I know I'll be back. Convenience gets it 3 stars.

This hardware store is much improved since it became a Home Hardware (it used to be a Rona…read morecorporate store before Lowe's bought them out). It's now brighter and cleaner, more inviting. And although I miss the kitchen set up display, I do love the addition of the giftware section! This shop has a small-town, personal feel, which the larger chains are lacking. It's still not a huge store, and the customer service section (round desk in the centre of the store) is still where it used to be. At least this store sells some lumber, and tiles. And there's an area / room for contractors to do their business, too. The biggest bonus to me is that it's still Canadian! Bravo! I will be back.
