Run. My interaction this past weekend with these folks was terrible. The old grumpy guy that was docking up boats took my jet ski unhooked it and pushed it off into the lake while i was loading my pontoon. When i came back to load it up it was floating and he said "is this your ski? Well your gonna have to swim for it!" Wow if that's how you treat people i feel sorry for anybody that has to interact with them. read more

This was our first time in West VA and our first time ever renting a boat. The staff was very accommodating and gave great direction. We rented the boat for 3 hours and had a great time swimming and exploring. Made for a really memorable trip to West VA! read more

Inadequate staff: I rented with Sunset for my birthday. Due to the coronavirus, I called to ensure I could have 11 adults around the time I made the reservation. I was told that was fine. A few days before I was set to rent with them, they called to ensure I was 25, and I asked if I could still have 11 adults. My group showed up with 11 adults. We were not informed of any issues with the number of people. A female staff ensured us that "Nick made sure there were 11 life jackets." There were not enough life jackets for everyone. We were banned because "the limit was 10" even though the website says it fits up to 12 people. We explained to staff that we were not informed of a problem with how many people we had and did not have an adequate number of life jackets. The staff we spoke to basically called all of us liars when she said, "I don't think she would do that," referring to the previous staff not informing us of an issue and not ensuring we had enough life jackets in case of emergency. Boat Appearance: We had the Blue something pontoon. The pontoon was not worth the money. The fuel gage was on empty even after refilling with gas, and there were tears in the seating. We did enjoy the radio on the boat. Pros: Cheat Lake was absolutely beautiful! It rained (we ensured that we could still be out in the rain), but that did not stop our fun. It was really cool looking at all of the nice houses and mountains everywhere. Being on the boat was the best aspect of my birthday! read more

Came here to rent a paddle board. There was only 1 young girl working. She really could use another person to help her. But she got everything set up for me & put it on the edge of the water while I used the extra disgusting port o potty. When I went over to the water, I found that I was given a child size paddle. I went back in to ask for the proper size. We went together to get it. The storage room was a disaster! A bunch of paddles just thrown on top of each other in the middle of the floor. She never did find one and I ended up getting a kayak. The whole area was super dirty with garbage all over the shore and in the water as well. We had a nice time, but I won't be back. read more

We have been going every year to boat for my husbands birthday for the past 5 years. And honestly this year is definitely the last. They charge you a fortune to rent a boat and they tried to put us on a boat that had NO ladder or door. And the worker said, " we don't pull the doors off for fun. We have college students that use our boats." Yeah well you also probably charged those college kids for damaging the boat and never repair them. The boat we ended up going on did have a ladder and door BUT was trash. The seats were torn and the carpet on the boat was so muddy and the front "fishing" seats were both broken. Long story short.. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. We definitely realized that this year and will never go back. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to Deep Creek, Maryland. Boats are beautiful and cheaper! read more

Staff was super rude. Told us we could no longer rent here because we had 11 people on a pontoon. when we checked on the website it said fits up to TWELVE: we left at noon with 11 people. The staff never mentioned that the 11 people on the pontoon was a problem. In fact, the staff never even checked to make sure if there was enough life vest even on the pontoon, just told us to go. When we got back we said we weren't allowed to ever come back due to the amount of people on the pontoon. If it was a problem why wasn't something said before we left the dock? Horrible service. Please make sure all staff is up to code. Do not recommend renting with them. read more

Place is falling apart. Employee told me a boat was sinking in the middle of the lake. Wouldn't issue refund for our 5 hour rental after a booking oversight. Let underage kids rent boats one week then enforce strict age restriction the next. Owner is obviously broke and needed that $400 more than me. Do not go here scam scam scam. read more

The only reason one star is showing is because you cannot give 0 stars. We made a reservation for 11 people on a pontoon for a few hours. When we arrived there were not enough life jackets on board the boat because staff didn't care to check. The lake was fun but once we returned the boat for the day they were nothing but disrespectful. As we checked out we were told that we were now blacklisted from the company and cannot rent from them any longer because the limit was 10 people for the boat. However, they watched us all get on the boat and leave with 11 people and nothing was said until we returned about the limit. Not that I'm too upset over this because the boat was in poor condition with ripped seats as a broken gas meter that said we were empty the entire time. Not sure why it was okay for us to make a reservation for 11 and then get blacklisted. The company is bound to go under much sooner than later based on the other reviews I've seen as well as my personal experience. My advice to anyone wanting to rent from here is to sell your car and get your own boat you'll have less problem that way. read more

This is the worst run company that I have ever experienced. I had contacted the marina on Monday and was told that I had a reservation on Sunday and that I would receive an invoice. I did not receive the invoice and tried to get a hold of this company for 2 days. Never once did I hear back from them. Finally I got a hold of them on Thursday and they said that I was never booked. After talking to various employees I finally got a hold of the manager who ensured me that we would have a boat come 1:30 on Sunday. As we are driving from PA on Sunday, the marina calls me and says that the boat broke down and we cannot go out today. What kind of company doesn't have extra boats? There is no doubt in my mind that the marina was overbooked and they lied to us. Keep in mind, this is all for a friends birthday. This marina won't be around too much longer? The owner and manager are by far the worst businessmen in West Virginia. If you rent from this place you are doomed to have your day ruined. read more
