Moving from NY to LA it was very hard for me to find a barber who could give me a good cut consistently. Then I met KUTTY ROME! He's a true professional barber. He loves what he does and makes sure you're completely satisfied with your cut before your out Hus chair. He may even spot something you didn't see even if you are satisfied! Once I found Kutty he's been my barber ever since. It's been a few years now so it feels more like I'm going to see my friend who just happens to be a great barber. Worst haircut of my life. I think the "barber's" name was James. Left without my hair being blended from top to bottom, hair on my sides that won't go down even with water or gel, and a weird cut on the front that makes me look like I'm wearing a lace-front wig. And that's just the haircut. The place itself is a mess without anyone working an official front desk. No appointments, just checking into a piece of paper that no one keeps updated. Also my barber walked in at 10:30 and took me as his first client. He was clearly still asleep but would muster enough energy to send off a few texts. All while I was sitting in his chair. Also, clumps of hair were floating around all over the floor like little cockroaches because I guess the guys are too bothered texting to clean up a little. read more

Can't say I am impressed with this Barber Shop. The first time we came in my son got a cut which was okay but grew back in way to fast. We came back in again to try it again & the place was packed....which was fine. I know the barber shops can be busy on weekends. The gentleman in the front was really nice & kept apologizing for the wait. What did it for me was us sitting there for over an hour sweating....then we watch these two ladies come walking in & I watch the lady tell the front "we ain't waiting in front of all these people are we"...she continues to tell the guy at the front how she isn't waiting & they told her "we will see what we can do".....meanwhile us & a ton of other people are sitting there patiently waiting & sweating. So then they take one of the ladies that just came in & out her in a chair for a cut.....so we left! We waited patiently....so do other impatient customers! I loved this barber shop!! Let me tell you why... 1) The guys and girls at Blade were SO friendly. 2) The atmosphere and decor. NY Harlem meets Hollywood. The pictures are inspired and the chairs classic. 3) The combined knowledge of the Barbers. I loved the team spirit. Each person has their own mad skills BUT that doesn't mean they aren't open to collaborating when needed. I have what appears like a simple Mohawk but in reality is far from simple. I have thick wavy hair with at least 5 cowlicks. Most Barbers just shave the sides and chop the top with no thought to how heavy the hair is or how it falls. Kav was my Barber and what a creative eye the man has! He asked what I wanted, while offering top-notch suggestions. I loved it when KG (another Barber) came over to offer some sage advice to Kav. The mutual respect and lack of ego makes this my new favorite place. read more

There's a vintage and classic vibe to the place because of the old school barber chairs, the classic movie images on the walls, and the old school soul and R&B music on the house speaker system. I've been going to the same barber for 8 years and it's always been love with the other set of barbers, and the familiar patrons. You can't go wrong with any of the barbers. I'd been on tour for 8 months and growing out my hair for 6 years. While on tour (Asia) I got a dramatic and specific cut that looked awesome, but needed to be shaped a little more and then (post shaping) maintained. In years past, I'd gone to In the Cut in North Hollywood but that place? I'd rather look like a mountain man or try and cut my hair myself. But this isn't about them. This is about Blade... I came in and there was a 15 minute wait. Typical of a barber shop. There were three men working and one woman. Now, I'm gonna be honest and say that I was hoping, wishing, and praying that the men would finish first. (Let's just say I was scarred from an AWFUL haircut from a female. It's like being in a relationship. "I will never date a musician again." Fair? Prolly not, but there's a point to me saying this.) I was impressed I must say with the simple organization system that was in place. After 15 minutes the men were all occupied and if I wanted to wait another 20-30 I could, but being pressed for time, I had to go with the woman. Her name is CeCe. She sat me down in the chair and asked me what I wanted. (I've noticed that all the barbers will sit and talk with you about your hair.) Because I'd only had one cut in 6 years, I wasn't sure, but we talked it out. CeCe made some [good] recommendations and once we decided, she got to work to "fix" what had happened in Asia. She talked me through every step. At one point she said "I'm a perfectionist." Three months later, she's the only one I go to for my hair to be cut. When I walk into that place I feel like family. CeCe is fantastic and if you're looking for a tight fade, my brotha, she will hook youUP. And if you're white, no worries. They got you. I recommend this place hands down. read more

Had a haircut from Marcus Tully. Not only did he not know what a "even all around, taper on the sides and back" meant... he went all to be very rude and aggressive as I expressed what needed to be done. Doesn't go in to detail of what a basic haircut and a regular haircut is... but I found out, if he uses a razor for your edge up, it's not longer a basic cut. In his defense, he's a Caucasian man so probably not used to cutting ethnic hair. Next time, it'll be better if he articulates that instead of getting defensive with my preference. Would NOT recommend at all. Disgusting personality and attitude! Would not ever recommend this guy!!! read more

I just started going to Blade Barber Shop and I'm addicted already! The barbers are friendly, professional, well dressed and keep me laughing with their various top of conversations. I wear a short hairstyle. Every two weeks I get my hair done at my hair salon (Mesch Hair Studio in Studio City) and afterwards I swing by Blade to have one of the fellas tapper me in the back which always adds that finishing touch to any short hairstyle! "Dawn has got it goin on!!" I considered not writing this review on her, as I anticipate a potential influx of customers crowding her, making it more of a challenge for me to get my next cut with her. Dawn has a way with the clippers, and gathers a complete understanding of what you want before she dives in, and asks you for reference along the way. She even double checks with the master before the cut is complete. Also the shop has an old timey feel, taking you back to a "Gatsby" era of old time but new clips. It's great, and I'm so happy I decided to stop. They also complemented me on my shoes, so that got them some points. read more
