There's just something about the way they cut my hair that I love. Owned by senior stylists, Mel and Letitia the salon is located on Unley Road just up from the Metro Shopping Centre (on the opposite side of Unley Rd). Of all the girls in the salon, I think just about all of them have done my hair at some stage. If you happen to pay them a visit for a new do, make sure you request "a treatment" when they're washing your hair out. "A treatment" comes with a 'to die for' head massage while you're simultaneously sitting in a massage chair at the basin ... oh and then there's some product put in your hair to make it all shiny. It quite honestly just takes you somewhere else. I admit to being a girly girl and I like being fussed over but a friend of mine who doesn't like all that fuss paid them a visit recently and was so impressed with her haircut, she asked to speak to the manager at the end of her appointment simply to praise her stylist - high praise indeed from someone who hates haircuts. If you're in search of the whole package, they regularly do hair and makeup for entire wedding parties and if you visit the salon on a Saturday you're sure to see a nervous bride and bridesmaids flitting about in full preparation for a big day.

No appointments, so you may have to wait if you go at a busy time - usually round 15 mins if its busy. But then it's in the hair and getting styled. 10 out of 10.

Unfortunately, they do only offer a hair service and don't do any of the extras that some salons do including nails and/or waxing. However, the staff are lovely and make the experience worthwhile. Ask for Kat or Tracey especially, they are knowledgeable and very friendly. Having said this, perhaps watch out for the apprentices, as they seemed sort of useless when I was there but am unsure whether they are still employed at the business. I decided I wanted a colour change but didn't know what sort so I had a colour consultation with one of the girls and this really helped me to understand which colours and sorts of highlights would suit my original colour and skin tone best. They also sell a range of products and hair styling tools, including GHD products.

It wasn't just your average cut either; it began with a style consultation before moving on to the actual cut - I didn't even know that existed! I walked into this hair salon just to provide a feedback for the recent hair colour that was meant to give my hair a bit of shine but instead it made my hair even duller than it was before. I was aiming to advise the staff that the product used on my hair is not good enough for a professional hair salon like this so that they can replace it with a better product, but unfortunately, the sharp words spat out in utter disrespect, did not give me a chance to explain my point. I guess it is time to accept that feedback from a customer, either negative or positive, is the only way you can improve your business. Very disappointed.

I've left too many salons and burst into tears in my car to take any more risks. I went to a Rundle Street salon for years and even continued there when I moved interstate as, based on previous bad experiences, I was too nervous to find another. Thankfully I made regular trips home to Adelaide to visit family and booked in a cut and colour each trip. When my sister with similar locks switched salons, it was easy for me to follow suit. "I need a cut and colour and I'd like you do cut me a fringe just the same as you did my little sis." I told Richard, the owner and wizard with the scissors. He's also a makeup artist and specialises in getting that colour just right for your skin tone. I loved the result and have been going there ever since. The salon is open and modern with floor to ceiling glass on three sides offering views into the mall, over the rear car park and to the street - not all that exciting in themselves, but when you're waiting for colour to process it's magic, any people-watching activity is entertaining. Richard's built a passionate and professional team. They all have a great attitude with a focus on giving you the style you want rather than encouraging you to try the latest trend. Although if you are into the very latest, I'm sure they are up to the challenge.. The crew have that special ability to fuss over you without fussing over you. If you cape has slipped, they discreetly fix it. They notice as soon as your coffee or wine glass is empty and offer you another. They'll chat if you seem interested, but will leave you in peace to your magazine if your interest in conversation wanes. I have trouble sitting still while waiting for the timer for my colour to 'ding', so often wander about the salon and sometimes into the mall. There are comfy, black lounges with a stack of magazines and a flat screen TV that helps to break up the monotony, but before I know it, I hear the telltale buzzer and I'm at the sinks having a wonderful head massage and feeling the stresses of my week wash away. I haven't had it done myself, but they do makeup too. I usually get my hair done midweek, but I have a friend who has gone in on a Saturday and witnessed a bridal group all having makeup and hair done for that important (and very busy day). Perhaps a one-stop shop for brides. There are a number of awards listed on the entrance, but I'm not all that fussed about that. Here, I feel welcomed, listened to and walk out feeling a million bucks. Can't ask for more than that.

Quick and super friendly service from the reception staff through to the stylists here is refreshing and worth a couple of extra dollars compared to other salons. The coffee is banging and the flavoured water and almond biscuits are nice extra touches. My hairdresser for the arvo, Dimi, was a doll and a great hairdresser who paid a lot of attention to detail. I really appreciated him not rushing and making sure my style was perfect, even though other customers were waiting. We were 30 minutes early for the appointment (my fault) and they graciously made us both espresso's and gave us magazines to read while we sat outside on the quiet street and relaxed. When it was time to get our hair done, the stylist took a few minutes to speak with both of us about what we usually do, what we were looking for, etc. There was no sense of rush whatsoever and my mom has very particular hair so she really appreciated it. Overall, what I enjoyed the most was the pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, the way the stylist took his time with us instead of rushing us and the service. The price is right on as well. $35 for a wash and blow dry, regardless of length.

The new Balinese hairdresser is brutally honest if you ask him a question about your hair as i overheard him telling a customer that she should get a fringe as her forehead was very big. It was true though he just gave her his honest opinion I personally like that in a hairdresser more hairdresser should be like this when you are not shaw what style you should go with.
