We came here in desperate need of 2 new tires on a Sunday 6/16. Thank you for fitting our camper in to give us 2 new tires. We only had to wait 45 minutes to have them be put on for us. They also fixed valve stem for us too. The guy behind the desk named Aaron was very friendly and caring and really easy to talk too. Thank you so much for helping us out in our time of need. I called ahead and they told me what I was looking for was in stock. I found nice birthday wrapping paper for children in rolls. The paper was heavy weight, not like the kind at $1. Stores or even Hallmark! Alfred Dunner apparel in plus sizes for women are popular. You can find great brands in shoes, for all ages of clothing. Good kitchenwares and supplies for canning. They also carry nice Christmas cards, German brand of little toy animals I prefer, baking supplies needed for the holiday cookie and candies! Check out staff are always so friendly and helpful. We hit a curb the night before we had to leave for a cross country trip the following afternoon. We had a tire overnighted and needed somone to install it before we had to head out. I dropped by Blains and spoke with Sara at 12:30. She was able to fit our job in before we had to leave at 3:30. I left to grab some lunch and received a call the tire was done before I finished. I've left my star rating the same but wanted to update my review because some of the information in my original review was out dated. Blaine's has a bit of everything. Farm supplies, pet products, clothing for all ages, tools, automotive center, household needs, candy and snacks, paint department etc. In October every year they have their toy shop for Christmas. It's a big deal. They open it on an advertised day and it's crazy in there. There toys are often unique items you won't find other places. I've went there for years for Christmas gifts. I also like their children's and babies clothing department. They carry Carter's brand and I buy lots of pajamas and baby gifts from here. I've bought several winter coats, snow pants and boots over the years for my kids. Their items are quality and good priced. They have a large women's clothing department. You never know what you will find. They no longer have a greenhouse in the spring. I think when menards opened they couldn't compete. In the winter I frequent for ice melt and their bulk bags of candy and nuts. Great prices for both. I used to bring my car to their automotive center for oil changes. But it always took way longer than the quoted time. I think if you are able to drop the vehicle off and pick it up later it would be okay. Overall it's a very solid store. I probably venture here once a month or so. read more

We spent 45 minutes looking for a battery we needed, when we tried to find someone to help all the employees seemed to disappear as soon as they spotted you. We ended up having to go to the service desk who were very helpful and gave us the aisle the battery was located in. So service was bad and good. The price is good. Customer service is helpful and honest. I've been pleased with the oil changes I've received on my vehicles. However, the first time I took my car in for an oil change I asked if they could fill my tires up with air as well. I asked what the charge was or if it was included in the oil change service. They didn't answer my question but said they'd do it. It wasn't done at all. Then the second time I took my vehicle back for an oil change I asked about having a headlight changed. I was quoted a few HUNDRED dollars for that alone. I opted out. When I arrived they asked again and quoted me less so I did have it changed. They said the other light was dim and I said to just change it too. But they said it was still dim and I was charged for both lights when there was no change and the original could've been put in. This doubled the price of my service. Unsure if I will be back. read more

Wish I could give no stars. Went to the tire center and had to wait at the counter for the good old boys to process two used batteries and chat about everything. When the clerk finally deigned to acknowledge me, told him I was running on a spare and had another tire going flat. He could have cared less and told me I would have to come back another day since I didn't have an appt. Since they had one car in a bay and four guys wandering around I wonder about that. He suggested I go elsewhere so I did! I always spend a TON there at Christmas and also a TON of horse supplies, I can guarantee I will never go back to Blaine's. read more

Update 9-13-2015 Thought I'd update this.. Nothing has changed if I could give this place a ZERO I would.. SO come to find out they busted my TPM valve. I complained and complained and spoke to manager after manager.. called some corp guy or something not to sure who he was.. Guess what I got.. A $20 gift card... Guess how much my TPM valve is to replace ... over $700. THANKS BLAINES!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what you get when you hire people who may not know what they are doing. 6 visits.. and multiple phone calls... It took me $100 to get it checked out by a dealership to figure out what they did. Blaine's has and will not stand behind their work. GO SOME PLACE ELSE. Would not go back if I didn't have to. But this place installed new tires on my car. I've been back there 6 times now because they can't seem to figure out one of my tire sensor lights. I"ve talked to managers they are always nice but still have the same problem. The management is nice but the service desk individuals in the auto department are less then steller. The people running the actual service desk in the tech area are so unprofessional and rude I can barely stand talking to them. On the phone again today with them trying to figure out this problem that started only after they put the tires on. read more

DO NOT USE THE TIRE CENTER EVER! The lady in front of us was told she could get four tires and it would only be about an hour wait. When the employee asked my husband what he wanted; my husband said he'd like a couple of tires and the guys responded loudly and rudely "we don't have time." HIs coworker looked at us and mouthed the word "sorry." My husband said we would take our business to someone who wanted it and the guy shrugged his shoulders and laughed. Very unprofessional and blatantly rude. We will no longer go to Blain's for anything. This type of behavior was disappointing, uncalled for, and frustrating. If Blain's can't get any better caliber of people to work for them; they should just close. read more

Service Garage / Mechanics not knowledgeable on much at all! Great Farm Store and love Toyland....but not a trustworthy auto repair place!! Do not even go here for an oil change or tires for an automobile. A few years back we took our car in for exhaust issues, they said cadilidic converter needed replaced. (sounded like a fair diagnosis) so they installed one. Then I felt my O2 sensor bouncing on the highway and hitting the chassis frame under my driver seat. Looked, and they had tried duct taping the sensor to the frame. Why? because there was no place to plug my O2 sensor back in, because they had installed the brand new cadilidic converter backwards!!! At the time I didn't post anything on yelp, wish I had. Now a friend was telling me about their recent service experience. Similar experience. He spent over $1,000 in repairs with Cedar Falls Blain's service garage, and the symptom he took it in for never changed or went away. In my opinion (and the next mechanic I told him to take his car to)...none of the things they repaired fixed the real cause (which was a cheaper fix). And, the repairs Blains did do, were mis-diagnosed and un-needed. He had even given them a 2nd chance and took it back to them saying what we suspected was the cause of his car's issues. They said "we checked that and its not it"... well, 2nd opinion mechanic found, yep, that was the problem! The techs just dont know how to troubleshoot or diagnose, even if you lead them down the right path! Do not lose your money there too! read more

I was expecting to have a bad experience like most people talk about when dealing with customer service. In the case of my dealing with Blain's....I could not be more happy with all of the excellent communications I had when I needed assistance with a recent purchase. I received very timely responses from both Lauren and Danielle and they both were very caring and professional. Tom in the Cedar Falls store also was very caring and should also be commended. They corrected the issue I had in a matter of minutes. They were very concise and caring when dealing with my issue. It's not too often when a company provides such amazing customer service...and it's nice to see there is still a company like Blain's that puts the customer first. read more

Getting really pricey. I bought AspirEase III for my horse a little over a month ago, took them a LONG time to get more in, and when they did, the little container went up $6! What a jump! I just bought the same thing online, and paid shipping and still saved money! Will not be buying that from them ever again! Also, hubby bought chicken feed and noticed a big price jump as well. We will be moving that business elsewhere as well. Tires are pricey as well. They are really losing more of our business all the time. read more

I bought some tires from Walmart this last Monday night and needed them installed on my car immediately as I was leaving town early Tuesday morning and there wouldn't be time to have them installed anywhere else that morning since it was a long trip and I would be on a deadline. Walmart refused to install the tires because of various reasons and would not allow me to return the tires because they were purchased with a gift card. I stopped at Blain's and asked them if they would be able to install the tires on my vehicle that night. I explained my situation to one of the employees who apparently was supposed to be leaving within the next half hour, and rather than tell me he wouldn't be able to get to it, he happily said he would stick around and install them for me because of my situation. My only regret is that I bought my tires from Walmart instead of Blain's, and from now on, I will be going there for all of my automotive needs. As a manager in the service industry, I was impressed with how I was treated, and they have won a new customer. read more

DO NOT BUY TIRES FROM BLAIN'S!! Last week I got my oil changed at a dealership and they told me one of my tires had a broken belt. The tires were only 11 months old so I was hoping they were still under warranty and they would replace it at no charge. I should have known better since the last time I had to deal with them they weren't any help. I had bought tires from them a while back and one of the tires had a bulge in it and I hadn't had it very long and they wouldn't do anything about it and went on to insult me by saying that I must have hit a curb. I insisted that I hadn't but they refused to do anything. I ended up getting a new tire at Tires Plus. Getting back to last week..it took them over an hour just to look at it and when they finally talked to us they accused us of putting the tires on another car. Turns out they had written the wrong VIN # and license plate on the paperwork. I was so upset by this time that I yelled at them for accusing us of lying and insisted on talking to the manager. The manager figured out that they had written down the wrong info. but said the tire was in bad shape and wouldn't be covered under the warranty. By this point I just wanted to get out of there so I accepted the $50 discount they gave me and got a new tire put on. It still ended up costing over $100 and a lot of aggravation! I will never EVER get tires or any other automotive work done here!! The people they have working in the automotive department are not helpful at all and are down right incompetent!! read more
