Visit Date: September 3, 2015 to September 7, 2015 Let me be clear from the start, this motel is really a 3 star motel but I am giving it 5 stars based on my experience. Hubby and I found this place on expedia for $70 a night and decided to try it. We were happy with our decision to stay here. The blair house is one of many mom and pop motels on the route 9 strip just outside of Lake George Village. Like many motels here your "room" might actually be a small cabin or a cottage. We opted for a king size bed so our room was actually joined with 3 other rooms (two on the bottom and two on the upper floor) in a combined cottage. Our room had a king size bed, a private bathroom, A/C, a television with a remote control, a mini fridge, a microwave and a keurig. I'm not a keurig fan but a keurig in your hotel room is actually pretty nice as most hotels with coffee pots do not provide keurigs. These extras in our room enabled us to visit the grocery store during our trip and stock it with some milk and extra drinks. We also bought our own k-cups and cereal so we could save on breakfast. During our stay the maintenance in our room was basic service. I think the family that lives in the office house and owns the hotel maintains the rooms so we were provide with fresh towels and extra toilet paper but our beds were not made. I am not complaining about this though as we don't make our bed at home so it didn't bother us. The keys are literally keys not cards that are now given as room keys in major hotels. The owners were very nice, we didn't have many questions for them but when we checked in they did tell us not to hesitate if we needed anything. For the price of these you really can't get better. Stayed here for labor day weekend and it was the perfect size for two people. All of their cabins offer different sizes and amenities so based on what you or your family needs you will want to read the bookings and ensure you're getting what you need. Check in was smooth and painless and it's great you can check in until 9:00pm. Checking out was painless as well. They just ask you to keep it clean which isn't asking much. About a 15 minute walk into town but only a 1 minute drive. It is in a great location and suits all of your needs. Just beware if you are going with a large group - there is only one space per cottage for parking so make sure you follow this because parking is very slim. My girlfriend and I stayed here over the weekend. Initially, Hotels.com had sent me an email the day before my actual reservation asking how my check in was. I called, and my reservation was actually correct and hotels.com had confused all of us. The person I spoke with was incredibly friendly, and willing to help what I initially thought was a mistake (on my end). I was unfamiliar with Lake George. I lived in the Adirondack region for 9 years - near Old Forge. I hadn't ventured much to the Eastern side of the region. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They gave plenty of recommendations and suggestions. The rooms were cozy, and the beds were decently comfy. However, what really stands out is their customer service. Next time we go to Lake George we will definitely be staying there again. read more

Scott was very helpful to us disorganized tourists looking for Intel on a POD (plan of day). The room was clean, slept like a rock on firm mattress (which I prefer, frankly). We are currently still on the property, so this is as up to date as possible! Unfortunately only stayed here for 1 night. Absolutely a great spot. It was the wife and doggy. Set back off the main road, so its safe for kids and animals. Obviously dog friendly. Plenty of grounds to walk around, beautifully smelling lavender? bushes all around. Owner we met couldn't have been nicer. A lil playgroung area, fire pit, bbqs, picnic tables, lil porches and patios (depending on which unit, patios are a premium!). Walking distance to the center of town. Just a great lil spot we will 100% be coming back to, without question. Our unit, #4 to be exact, was very clean upon arrival with all toiletries present. Im sure there are other swankier spots to stay at, we just wont be seen there!! Why bother when we have The Blair House?! We were looking for a place to stay while hiking with our dogs in the awesome mountains around Lake George. Our first criteria was allowing dogs (they do) and the second was the ability to have family or friends stay with us (they also do). We got a 2 room double queen cottage that was on well kept grounds just outside of town. You can walk to town though it's about a 1/2 mile to the start of the busy parts. (There's also a really good pizza shop, No.1 Pizza, right across the street!). The room was very clean and comfy, having all the amenities you'd need if you want to cook in, etc. The a/c was in the main room but easily reached the bedrooms, but the cottage was well shaded and stayed cooler than outside on a hot day. The owners were very nice and helpful and had an exceptionally friendly pup. We got to meet a number of the other guests, all very nice. We found the area just awesome for a lot of reasons. We hiked many of the surrounding mountains (and will be back in the winter to do more snow hiking), lots of the restaurants and other activities. Many restaurants have decks and allow dogs (like the Boat House Restaurant on the lake...great food and views!) . Ours were always on a leash and we had no problems, other than all the friendly people wanting to play with our dogs! We will certainly go back. read more
