As someone who isn't really into military history but loooves everything spooky (and once upon a time belonged to a paranormal investigation club), of course I was up for some haunted fun! The ghost tour runs at night, obviously, as the midday sun isn't exactly conductive to maximum eeriness. Our guide kicked things off with a talk about the history of this 18th century British fort against the backdrop of the French and Indian War (and an apocryphal movie starring Daniel Day-Lewis). Then comes the main event, and we were brought to the casemate (basement), supposedly the most haunted part of the grounds, as it was used as a field hospital for wounded soldiers, and well, many didn't make it. Our tour guide was fantastic, equal parts historian and campfire storyteller, and regaled us with tales of entity encounters, paranormal happenings, and other unexplained phenomena. Are the stories real? Exaggerated? Completely fabricated for tourism purposes? I have no idea, but baby I got chills! If you believe that a place can carry the residual energy of suffering, deaths, not to mention infection-prone surgeries without anesthesia, perhaps these stories are believable. Note: the daytime vibe is basically just a normal historic fort, so the day tour is a pretty different experience, and doing both isn't redundant. I didn't really get to look around the museum cos I didn't want to be left behind alone after that terrifying finale about a girl who wandered off alone during a tour (no spoilers but that one made the hairs on my arm stand up!), and anyway I wanted to check out the gift shop, where the bright fluorescent lights and people are.... Finally, what a great gift shop! There's a nice assortment of souvenirs, practical items, and knick knacks, and I even snagged some cool finds on sale. My favorite score was a scratch-off card of the Catskills 3500 peaks (shoutout to Peakquest), a reminder for me to get back to peak bagging instead of ghost hunting.

We go to O'Sullivan's every year and also love how pet friendly it is. One suggestion would be to add a fire pit on the property. We definitely missed having that as an option. Our little cottage was perfect, however. We had a barbecue to use and a little lawn for the kids to run and play.

The lake area is in a shallow cove and my kids were literally able to run out for a few minutes and still be up to their knees. There are plenty of kayaks and paddle boats to take out, and a small sandy beach area for the kids to play. There's also a pool on the property, but the lake area was great so we never even went. Rooms are a little older, but they are clean and spacious. The property is pretty small, so everything is an easy walk. There's also plenty of parking onsite. The location is also prime in Bolton and it's just a two minute drive up to all the shops and restaurants. The owners were super sweet and friendly and helped us out a few times when we were locked out of our room. Overall, this is a really nice family run hotel in Bolton and the location on the lake can't be beat. There are definitely cosmetic upgrades that could be made, but like many other hotels in the area it's a little old school. Looking forward to coming back - we had a great time here.

Kim and her family make you feel like you are part of their family. The rooms are very clean and the garden is so relaxing. Everything was cleaned to the point that it was sealed with plastic, including the spoons, coffee maker, glasses, I mean everything! Cute kitchen. Just make sure to bring dishwashing soap and coffee. The porch has a picnic table (bring a tablecloth) with umbrella and a cute grill that also is provided to you like new. You could switch out small propane tank up near office when you need a new one. We were here when nights were cool enough for windows to be open. You may be hot if weather is hot since only a small a/c is provided in kitchen which would definitely not cool off entire cottage. I would also bring a few hooks as there are no hooks on doors which made it difficult to hang towels, robe etc. no hooks or shelf space in shower so a bit difficult to hang washcloth, loofah etc but super clean and comfortable otherwise. The Lakefront is great, lots of room for everyone. Plenty of boats. Not a problem getting one and oars and life jackets are there for you. Large swimming area with a raft to swim out to. Fire pit, bocci balls, ping pong, mini golf lots of grills provided. Staff was very nice. This resort is on a very big hill. Be prepared to walk up a steep hill if you are on top. We were lucky to be closer to the lake. All of the cabins look cute, lots of trees so nice country Adirondack feel. There is no pool on the property but it really isn't necessary. The Lake is beautiful for swimming. I would highly recommend this property.

Really reasonable prices for a two bedroom cabin, that has a kitchenette, and living room. The resort is right on the Lake, and has a beach, and miniature golf(!) right on site. They provide a small gas grill for BBQ, too. I've no complaints about the place, at all. In fact, I am certain that I've never, ever, been in a cleaner spot in my life. I'm totally serious. They take clean to a new level, here. Every cabin was newly painted. Every possible surface in every room was buffed to a high sheen. Every thing that could be, was shrink-wrapped, just to prove it had been cleaned by them. Honest. Even the hand towels were encased in plastic. The pots, the utensils. Okay, each individual fork wasn't shrink-wrapped, but the utensil tray was. The weirdness of this obsession tickled me, immensely. The cabins are all nestled in a pine grove, all the way down a steep slope to the Lake's edge. It's a very quiet place to stay, which was nice during a rowdy bike event. Most of the year, I'd say this place caters to families. The decor is straight out of the Seventies. Not, cool California Seventies, but Uncle Rosco's basement Rec Room Seventies. I got a little nostalgic, and found myself humming Bay City Rollers songs. Check out the rooms photos on their site. One final note: bring things like dish soap with you. It's not provided.

Properties are beautiful and well appointed but they are notorious for after charges with claims. My recent stay I was not happy that they don't release the address until check in time especially when traveling 3 hours to get there. Overall, the unit was relatively clean, although I did find hair left in the shower and cobwebs in the bunk area. The hot tub had not been cleaned and, despite being covered, was full of leaves and bugs. The shower water pressure was extremely weak and noticeable cob webs throughout the home. Also, the bunk bed is listed as a king bed, which is inaccurate. Despite these issues, I was happy with my stay and was even considering booking one of their properties again. Several days after my stay I discovered an unexpected $500 charge on my credit card with absolutely no notice or warning. When I checked the app to find out what the charge was for, I found a message from the host simply stating: "stained linens throughout the rental." This accusation was both vague and unreasonable. We barely used the rental and only slept in one of the 3 beds and followed all check out rules to leave the unit spotless. To be charged $500 after the fact, without any prior communication, photos, evidence, or opportunity to discuss the issue, was extremely disappointing and has completely changed my opinion of this property management company. After contacting Vrbo to dispute the charge and multiple attempts to contact the property with no response. northern provided photo proof of alleged soiled linens. 1. A kitchen towel/rag that had signs of food on it (washable), 2. A pillow case with a slight soiled spot (washable) and 3. A towel that had dirt marks on it (washable). All issues were normal use and could be washed and definitely did not result in the need to replace: as requested by northern to the extent of 1. 2 pillow shams (only one was soiled) 2. a new comforter which they had no proof of any damage to 3. New dish towel 4. 6 full sets of towels (only one set was even used - they provided 3 total - 1 set for each bed and the unused ones remained folded in place where they were placed by northern) Potential guests should be aware of the possibility of additional charges, inaccurate bed sizes and most important significant post-stay charges and proceed with caution. Inspect every inch upon arrival and before departure and take photos and videos. Or even better. Don't stay at their properties at all.

The walk was nice during the day, but we drove in at night since it was too dark. The main draw to this location was that it was only 2 blocks away from the Warren County Bikeway. Stewart's shops was down the block which was perfect for our ice cream and coffee fix. The stay itself was average. We arrived at 7pm and found no one in the office. We called the number and someone arrived promptly to check us in. Just concerned what would have happened if we did not have phone service. Turns out the staff was hard at work cleaning (they just finished cleaning the room). We found the Adirondack Lodge to be a good amount of space for 3 people and definitely would be ok for a couple more. The room was very clean. The fireplace area had a nice homey feel to it. We were expecting to find some plates, pots/pans and silverware, but we found none. Luckily we brought our favorite pan and spatula with us, so we just had to pick up some disposable plates and plastic ware to cook what we wanted. The comfort level of the mattresses were mixed. Mine was sufficient, but the others preferred the futon in the main area over the mattress. Staying here on a return trip depends on what is planned. If I wanted to use the bike path and do more outside of town activities, I might. However if more activities in town were planned I'd likely stay in a place there. Prices were competitive, so that is a factor too.

We stayed in the motel area each time, but this year we had some problems (AC not working and key kept jamming and locking us out) but they were super responsive and offered to move us to a different motel room or upgrade to one of the cabins for the remainder of the stay. We moved to a cabin, so it was nice to test out both options. Both types of rooms are immaculately clean, comfortable, and have full kitchens. The location is convenient to be just outside of the bustle of the town, but about a 15-20min walk to the village or beach. It is on Route 9, but the rooms still seem very quiet. Cons--the only things I find slightly weird are that you have to bring your own towels and hand soap? Also, would be nice if the bedding looked like it had been updated in this century (dated polyester bed spreads just feel grungy no matter where you stay) some clean white comforters and sheets that can be easily cleaned/bleached would do the trick.
