You can't rent a cottage. People live in the cottages year round. Used to be great in its day. Now it's rented to immigrants yearly.

Five stars because we loved every minute of our stay here for our Lake George trip! Between the quiet, cozy nights, large 8 ft pool, charcoal grilling, and walking distance to downtown Lake George, we had a blast. The owners are very transparent with what their cottages are and explain which cottage would be most suitable. I originally found them through Airbnb, but I highly suggest you go through their website for less fees and better communication. The cottages remind me of camping, but they are renovated so more like glamorous camping or "glamping." We stayed in cottage #7 and the bathroom was beautiful, the minifridge has a freezer for ice, and the bedroom has a large queen sized bed. Temperature was not an issue as the cottage was cool and had lots of windows and a fan. The location is amazing. Just across the street from the lake and close to the ADK brewery and biking trails. You can bike to all of the hottest destinations in under 10 minutes from here. The owners are very friendly and provide dish soap, sponges, plates, silverware, cookware, bed linens, toilet paper, charcoal grills, and fire-pits. The only thing to beware about is the high population of moths surrounding the area because of the tall trees, but we found them throughout Lake George. If you are looking for a cheaper place to stay in Lake George, but are not the full on camping type, I suggest Pine Grove Cottages. We are already planning our next stay here and are excited to check out the other cabins. read more

I'm giving this 5 stars, which I rarely do, because Pine Grove Cottages is pretty clear and up front about what you're getting: a cottage/cabin in a small community of 10 cabins. The location is great in that it's quiet and at the end of a street. It's maybe a mile or so from the main street in town (depending on how you go) and a grocery store, and a mile from "Million Dollar Beach", and 1/2 mi or so. from Adirondack Brewery. We had a 20 min drive or so around to the other side for a day hike we wanted to do. My family was in cottage 10, my brother's was in cottage 7. I can't speak for the other cottages. The accommodations are basic, some might consider them rustic, yet comfortable enough and have pretty much everything you need: decently stocked kitchen (note: some kitchens are pretty small), bathroom, bedrooms, TV, wifi (though if you plan on working remotely it might not be a strong enough signal). Look at the pictures so you know what you're getting, they are accurate. Note this isn't a 5-star resort hotel. It's 10 cabins on a residential road, a couple fire pits, a swimming pool, and owner/operators who try to be as responsive as they can. Maybe, for the same price, you could be in a hotel. However, I challenge you to find lodging with the same "vibe" and indoor/outdoor space to move around for the same price. We walked around town and saw a lot of the other hotels and decided we were happy where we were: It was quiet, woodsy, and not on a noisy main street. Note that some of the cabins have "dorm" sized refrigerators so a cooler might be good to bring if you plan on a lot of groceries or cold drinks. I should point out the cottages don't have air conditioning and do get as hot as the outdoors. Each cottage seems to have its own unique method of creating ventilation to keep it comfortable. Cottage 10 is in the sun a lot and got hot. My brother's cottage, 7, was in the shade. If you're in cottage 10: put a fan in the kitchen window blowing in, a big box fan on a chair in the TV area between the kitchen and bedroom door and angle it up toward the stairs, put a fan in the window at the top of the stairs blowing out. This creates a nice draft. Cottage 7 is a little easier to create a cross draft because there re windows opposite each other in the main room. My experience with the owners was fine. They responded to any concerns with appreciation and apologies, and were social enough. For example, I mentioned to him that the fridge had a hard time closing properly (the door hinge sagged), and there was evidence of rotting wood around the shower stall (my toe went right through the trim/moulding). He appreciated the observations and added them to his "to do" list and explained that the only time he gets to do maintenance is before and after the season. And, before this season he was working hard to fix damage from a tree limb that landed on and damaged the roof of one of the cottages during the off season, resulting in a few months of water damage. If you stay here, I hope you enjoy and appreciate it as much as we did. Mostly, we appreciated a woodsy place to retreat to after being out and about all day. read more

This is my first time staying in a cottage but I can say that I had a good time and a nice stay here. The owners were very nice and friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen fully stacked. Unfortunately since me and my girlfriend were out hiking and exploring the town most of the time we didnt get to use the kitchen or the grill but Im sure we will next time :) Thanks Peter and Lori read more

Our family rented 2 cottages for 4 nights. My sister and her husband stayed in 1 cottage with their 4 kids, and my husband and I shared another cottage with my mom and my other sister. The location is walkable to the attractions and shops on Canada street and to the trail to hike up Prospect Mountain. The pool was very nice and we enjoyed it every day of our stay. The owners Peter and Lori are on site if you need anything. We found them very accommodating. Our cabin had a plumbing problem, and they did everything they could to make sure we were comfortable, including letting us move to another cabin for one night, and making yet another cabin available for our use. We didn't use the fire pit, but we enjoyed the charcoal grills. A couple of things to be aware of: the cottages do not have A/C, instead they have fans in all of the cottages. This did not bother me, since it was rather cool in the evening. The walk from the town back to the cottages is uphill -just FYI. read more

My husband and I rented cabin #3 for our family of six -- all four of our children are under 10. The cabin was spacious enough for the six of us. All of the beds in our cabin were comfortable; there was a bathtub in the bathroom; and there was an electric oven in the kitchen as well as a charcoal grill and picnic table outside. We were all set for eating in and also for walking to the main strip. The pool was great for kids and adults alike: It was stocked with plenty of pool toys and, much like the cabins, it was squeaky clean. There were even some outdoor toys, including a riding car and a small slide. I was grateful to be able to keep the kids busy and entertained on the premises while we grilled out after a day of hiking or visiting tourist traps on the strip. The location felt safe and private, and the owners, Peter and Lori, were on hand the whole time. My mom, sisters, and brother-in-law stayed in cabin #2, which has the same floor plan as cabin #3. When the plumbing in that cabin went south, the situation was immediately addressed. Peter and Lori offered my family the use of two additional cabins to accommodate their needs. As we left, Peter and Lori were already permanently rectifying the plumbing via the replacement of a complete drain line and even sent us an offer for a 75$ discount for a future visit. I left feeling that they did everything, everything that they could to make our visit to their cabins a positive experience. If you understand that a cabin is not a hotel (no housekeeping, no A/C, and woodsy often equals mosquitos, right?), and you are looking for a family friendly atmosphere, go to Pine grove -- you won't be disappointed. read more

This place was one of the worst I stayed in at Lake George. When I called to book i told them they were children with us they never spoke about the extra charge which was 10$ per child per day on top of the 210$ price a night. For that price the place is ugly. The cabin is small and extremely dark. They do not provide amenities and the owners are never around. I only met the mom of this "mom and pops" business. The other owner whom I thought was just a handyman was extremely rude. We were not aware of the 10am check out time. At 9:40 the on the check out day the owner came to let us know. We began rushing to put things together to leave. He came two more times each time ruder then the last. At the end he said he would charge us 50$ if we stayed past 11. We left at 10:50. When we got home surprise surprise there was a 100$ charge on my card. Thankfully it had not been charged. Then to make matter even better the owner calls me and decided to argue with me over my posting on their other tripadvisor page. He was very rude and congratulated me on this being my worst stay!! Would never stay here or recommend this to anyone. My advice stay at a nicer place for half the price Windsor and Lake Haven have way better options! read more
