We signed the contract for them to do my two bathrooms that had been gutted by the mold removal guys. It was supposed to be a 3 week timeline job from start to finish beginning on 12/13/22. Omar and his crew would show up anywhere between 12-3pm, work for a couple of hours, tell me they'd be here early the next day but never ever do that. I'd be texting him around noon asking if they were planning on coming over or not. He said they were finishing up a job but as soon as they were done there, he and his crew would be completely focused on my project. Every week he would be demanding a payment. His wife, Charmaine would be emailing an invoice. I told him that milestones needed to be reached. Regardless of that, he would be demanding payments because he had bills, he needed to pay his workers etc. I was a fool and paid him. To date, both the bathrooms are not finished. 3 weeks ago, he called to let me know that he had some personal legal stuff to take care of and would not be there until the following Monday. I asked that he please have my front porch and front yard picked up since I didn't want my neighbors complaining since he was taking off for a week. They had strewn buckets, empty packages, cut up tiles etc all over the front and the side yard. His worker came over 2 days later and picked up a truckload of trash. He came back later that same day and picked up their tools and other stuff. Which felt a bit strange because Omar had said that his Uncle would be coming over to finish up the tiling. My warning signs that they h were not up to the task were many but I was out the money and was waiting patiently for them to complete the bathrooms. It had taken Omar three attempts to tile one niche in the bathroom! At first, he put in small cut up pieces of tiles in the diagonal corners! Then he replaced it with a different tile! Third time, he still has an uneven tile! I don't know how the waterproofing of the Schluter niche has been compromised by him repeatedly taking tile off again and again. To date, no one from Thunder Legacy Builders has been over to finish the job. I've called, texted, emailed. I messaged them on Nextdoor where they are actively trying to get new business by posting their services. Their response to me was that they have terminated their contract due to non payment since according to them the bathrooms were 100% and 80% completed!! Total falsehoods! Pictures are of current situations of the bathrooms. No faucets. No showers. No shower door. No vanity. No toilet. No grout in floor tile. No electric work completed. No painting. No base boards. Lights and exhaust fans are dangling from the ceiling. Bath tub surround tile incomplete plus a total mess. There's horizontal and vertical tiles placed! Look on the window and see for yourselves. No centering. Door is off hinges... They had only completed one third the work, received 80% of total payment and disappeared! They claimed the job took longer because of my "change of mind"The only thing I changed was getting a vanity instead of a pedestal sink. Which is still not installed because they never got the flooring done! On top of that, each time he went to the hardware store, I paid for the supplies, he never gave me receipts. I reminded him several times. I hired him knowing he had recently gotten his General Contractor License and wanted to give him a leg up. Everyone needs help when starting out. I was going to refer him to my friends who are looking for a good licensed contractor for a few re-modeling projects after he was done with my bathrooms. I even shared that with him. He was unappreciative of the opportunity and has no work ethics. Ripping off an elderly handicapped couple.

He always kept us updated on the progress and stayed on schedule the whole time. He didn't ask many questions, but asked the perfect ones - confident enough with his skills and also aware of what the homeowner would want input on. We appreciated that they did everything start to finish -- we weren't needing to go back and forth between designer, architect and builder. More important, I can't emphasize enough how professional, friendly, respectful, tidy and helpful their crew is. When you have people at your house five days a week for several months, it really makes a difference when they are good quality people who are nice to be around. I actually missed them when they were finished! They also do almost zero sub-contracting, so you aren't dealing with a rotating group of strangers. One highlight is drywall/interior painting, they are SO meticulous and the results are flawless. Same goes for stucco and exterior painting. They did a bunch of crack repairs, inside and out, and they matched the texture and paint perfectly. They tend to start early and finish by 4pm.
