I am writing this review of Blasser Law and Bill Blasser because I know how difficult it is for lay people to find good lawyers. I am civil-litigation lawyer, and another family-law lawyer referred me to Bill Blasser (Blasser) and Blasser Law. It was a good referral, and I am grateful to that family-law lawyer for the referral. Now I am attempting to refer other people in need to Blasser Law. Blasser represented me in a dissolution action that was successfully settled. My wife hired two different law firms and ended up firing them both. Her firms did nothing but charge her large amounts of money and file frivolous pleadings and requests for orders. All of the advice Blasser gave me along the way turned out to be absolutely correct. He is an experienced and well-known attorney in the family-law courts. The judges know him and like him. He was able to handle my case without me worrying about it. When I needed to reach him, he was responsive. I found the quality of his legal work, writing, and research to be well above average. I'd had a consultation regarding a deadline for an extracurricular enrollment for my child where she had to enroll within the next 2 weeks. The attorney strongly advised against filing an ex parte motion for a speedy court date (within 2 weeks), claiming it would anger the judge and ruin my case. He suggested filing a regular RFO instead (which we wouldn't have seen the judge for at least 2 months). I went against his advice, I filed the ex parte on my own, and the judge granted the speedy court date, then the judge ordered my child to enroll in the extracurricular activity. In my opinion, this attorney is way too conservative and lacked the urgency my case required. Glad I trusted my instincts. read more

I spoke to Bill Blasser for a consultation on custody. He was honest about what his thoughts on whether there was a case or not, and gave advice on how I could potentially change the outcome. He let me know that he could research the topic more and would need to charge the time, but also let me know that he felt that my particular case would be a hard one to win and would not be money well spent. Other lawyers might have taken/started the case to create billables regardless of the outcome, so I appreciated his honesty and frankness with my situation and the likelihood of winning. read more

I do not recommend that anyone call Blasser Law for a consultation. I recently called them because of an article posted on their website. I spoke with Bill on the phone and unfortunately, despite multiple requests to only provide legal advice, he basically only provided me his (unsolicited) views on life, rather than on the law. The very small amount of legal advice he gave ("don't do anything") has been flagged as a bad idea by another lawyer I talked to. Bill also seemed unfamiliar with the article on the Blasser Law website that was supposedly written by Blasser Law. This is not of huge relevance but, based on my conversation, I would suspect Bill is politically conservative and would not do a good job representing someone who does not share his personal views. Lots of attorneys offer free consultations and I would encourage anyone to look elsewhere for a credible legal consultation. Bill, since you read and respond to reviews (a rarity from lawyers, particularly in family law because of client attorney privilege) here is some unsolicited feedback for *you*: People call you for legal consultations. If you are unable to provide a legal opinion or do not know what you are talking about, just say that and end the call. Providing unsolicited advice on how your clients should live as well as yelling on the phone is not helpful. Additionally, providing unsolicited medical opinions, without an adequate background and understanding of someone's situation, which you also did, is out of line and dangerous. This last point is why I am writing a review as opposed to just an email to you directly. It seems important for me to try to prevent anyone else from experiencing what I did. I would imagine your first instinct will be to respond to this review about why what I said is wrong, a lie, etc. (it's not) but really, please take some time and think about what I am telling you. I'd even consider taking this review down if I can verify your behavior has improved. read more

I know it sounds like a gimmick but in my case I was projected to get 50-50 physical custody with my child but I was able to get much more. I don't know where to start. From day zero when I interviewed with Bill he was very professional, direct, honest, forthright, etc. I did a lot of research prior to interviewing Bill Blasser to represent me in my case where at the time with my daughter was in jeopardy. I have family and friends that told me many things about what could happen because for many years well into elementary school her mother and I did everything word of mouth i.e. child support, schedule, etc. I've dealt with attorneys in my line of business and didn't know what to expect from a family attorney. I read all the Yelp reviews prior to interviewing Bill and everything ended up being inline and very accurate with people's comments (well at least the good ones). In my case many false claims were made about me from her mother. Over unfortunately a year period (by no ones fault) I worked with Bill to supply him with facts of what transpired between my daughter's mother and I.. and at the end of the day IN COURT, Bill as a great attorney as he is, ripped through her lies with his questioning and fact gathering. As an eye witness and through my experience with business, Bill killed it. He unraveled the truth and understood the judge to some degree and got me 50/50! My family and friends were ecstatic with the results! I actually couldn't believe it, but if it wasn't for Bill's legal skills and determination I don't think I would have had the results I wished for from the beginning. I have not talked to a more arrogant, offensive person in my life! As soon as the conversation started, the arrogance was practically unbearable. He did not want to hear what I had to say. He had absolutely no concern to consider my point of view or thoughts. He was beyond condescending in the way he talked to me. As the conversation went on, Mr. Blasser continued to insult me in completely unprofessional and inexcusable ways. I cannot imagine working with someone who treats any human being in this way. I am still in disbelief that a so called professional would speak to anyone in this way! On the bright side, he has inspired me to sit down once again with my kids and remind them to always treat people with respect and common decency. Similar to other reviewers, Bill starts off being very responsive and reasonably priced. I found him through Rocket Lawyer, worked on my matter, interacted with opposing counsel ... and then, towards the tail end, he became unresponsive. He stopped working on the case. He stopped answering my emails and text. I would call his office, they would take messages, yet no response from Bill. This is a review of William and Lisa Blasser, the people. They ARE the honest people that our society needs. I live in the city where they are. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to kill two birds with one stone: walk to my bank to get exercise and withdraw $1000 to pay bills/ buy supplies/ groceries (so that I could quarantine and not have to go out again). I didn't bring a purse because of the distance. I put the money in my running belt pack along with my cell phone and keys. Along the way home, I took out my phone to change the song. Later, a text came in and I pulled out my phone again. Only then, I realized my belt pack only had my phone and keys; I didn't even realize the cash had fallen out. I went back on foot and later by car. I couldn't find the cash. Because I had driven all the way down Indian Hill to look for the cash, I figured I may as well take the off-chance that someone turned it in to the police as the station wasn't too far. Sure enough, the police asked me where I lost the money, the amount and the denominations to verify the money was in fact mine. The dispatcher told me it was my lucky day. Someone just reported finding the money! The officer, who went to Mr. & Mrs. Blasser's to pick up the money and bring it to the station, told me that in 15 years on the job, he'd never seen this happen. I asked him for the reporting party's name. The officer gave Mr. Blasser's name and address. The officer said that Mr. Blasser told Mrs. Blasser about finding the money and they agreed they should report and return it- because it's the right thing to do. They returned ALL of the money. They could've easily claimed they only found a portion or not turn it in at all. I honestly cried when I heard someone had turned in the money. I am not a client. However, if they run their law practice the way they live their lives with such honesty, I imagine they are not about making a buck, because they could've had an easy $1000 here. To me, that's not chump change and I couldn't be more impressed at their honor. Mr. & Mrs. Blasser, the officer and I spoke of how you gave us hope in humanity. I am writing this review because I hope that others don't have to go through the same costly mistake that I did in choosing Bill Blasser as my attorney. My biggest complaints are: *Bill disappeared for 7 days leading up to my court date. I called everyday, 5 days in a row and did not hear back until finally I demanded to know where he was from his receptionist and left her a message that I needed to know where my case stood. Lo and behold, I received an email from Bill minutes later and the draft agreement I had been waiting days for another 30 minutes later. *Bill took a retainer of $3,500 for my case. My case was a simple increased visitation case. I did all the work discussing and compromising with my son's mother split physical custody arrangements and outlining to Bill our agreement. Bill took my entire $3,500 retainer. *$875 of costs for Bill's "work" consisted of him having to go to court for a hearing on 7/2/19 which made no sense due to the fact that I have a signed court order for our new custody agreement dated 6/28/19. The problem I have is that I wasn't notified prior to this court hearing and given any options (I could have drove to the courthouse myself and saved the expensive attorney hourly fees and asked why my signed 6/28 court orders were not finalized). What is worse is that $525 of these costs are for Bill's drive time to court! I would understand paying a $350 hourly rate for extensive legal work requiring expertise but not for drive time. Originally I decided on Bill Blasser because he appeared concerned about my case and he discussed covering my case for reasonable fees. Ultimately, as soon as Bill learned that my son's mother and I came to a quick resolution, I did not hear from Bill for several days. I was extremely surprised when I received my final invoicing and saw that I was being charged my entire $3,500 retainer. I even emailed Bill asking for an explanation of the costs and asked if he could help me out with costs, I got no response. I was hoping that I had completed an exhaustive search for the right attorney for all my current and future family law needs. I was dead wrong. Learn from my mistake. One of the WORST lawyers in LA. I too, read the Yelp reviews about him. I thought I was in good hands. Don't (that means do NOT) fall into his "low ball" billing scheme. He might offer you a "reasonable hourly rate", but he will over bill. "incompetent" is best suitable word for him. He is just a "push-over" in court. The other lawyer just chewed him alive, each time and every time. He never admits any faults, and always full of excuses. When I finally got so fed up and decided to cut the tie, all of sudden, he bombarded me with ridiculous bills and charges, and when I questioned him, he threatened to sue me. I have all the documentation against this lawyer who deserves to be stripped of his right to serve as a lawyer and should resign from his underhanded practice. You do NOT want to retain him, you do NOT!!!! read more

Blasser is an unprofessional and unresponsive attorney. He barely responded to my emails and messages and the day before my court date I even messaged him "Are you still representing me?". He made my divorce harder due to his negligence on certain matters. My ex did not respond to the divorce papers within 30 days. Blasser did nothing until after 2 months had passed and I brought his attention to the matter. It was his negligence that dragged on my divorce even though there was no child custody. It took me two and a half years to get my divorce. I am so glad I switched my attorney. The new attorney was professional and responsive.
