The Price of doing business with Blaze's! I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Blaze's Automotive, and I feel compelled to share my negative encounter with others. In February, I entrusted them with repairing a problem that had been caused by Take 5 oil change. Unfortunately, my interaction with Blaze's Automotive quickly turned into a frustrating ordeal. Upon inspection of my truck, Blaze's Automotive informed me that additional repairs were needed, including the replacement of both valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, coil packs, and fixing a broken off dip stick. The estimated cost for these repairs amounted to a staggering $2,232.18, as indicated in the attached invoice. It's worth mentioning that Take 5 was also responsible for a portion of the repairs. However, my dissatisfaction truly escalated after I relocated to Colorado Springs, a mere 15 days later. Suddenly, my truck started leaking oil, causing significant concern and inconvenience. Naturally, I contacted Blaze's Automotive to address the issue, hoping for a resolution. I spoke with Caroline, a representative of the company, who instructed me to schedule an appointment and bring the truck back to their facility. However, I explained to Caroline that I had already moved and returning to Amarillo was not feasible for me. Despite my predicament, she callously dismissed my concerns, informing me that there was nothing they could do to assist me. Understandably, I requested to speak directly with Blaze, the owner, as I believed that he would take responsibility for the situation and provide a more satisfactory solution. To my astonishment, Caroline, rather than empathizing with my situation, stubbornly insisted that Blaze would only offer me the same unsatisfactory response. This response demonstrated a complete lack of concern for my predicament and a clear unwillingness to rectify the situation. I thought in the process of repairing the valve cover gasket, the mechanic twisted or somehow pinched the drivers side, this was the side with the leak. However, when a friend and myself pulled the cover off, I was horrified to learn that they had cracked the valve cover and made attempts to repair it unbeknownst to me. They never mentioned this mistake, only attempted to cover it up. The overall experience I had with Blaze's Automotive was highly disappointing and frustrating. Not only did they fail to fix the issue properly the first time, but their subsequent lack of accountability, poor customer service and lack of business ethics left me stranded with a leaking truck, unable to get this corrected until I was able to do it myself. If you're looking for a reputable mechanic shop, I strongly advise potential customers to reconsider entrusting their vehicles to Blaze's Automotive. Their inability to take responsibility for their mistakes and their dismissive attitude towards customer concerns make it clear that they prioritize their own convenience over the well-being and satisfaction of their customers. read more

NEW OWNER: This place is very poorly managed and extremely overpriced given their level of incompetency. After being a loyal customer for 27 years I am stepping away as I was accused of lying when I returned to discuss an incomplete repair. I guess their position is that I went in and muddled up the repair and then hoped they would fix it for free. The technicians were lined up, smiling and giggling when I stepped into the office to request they correct the mistake that was made the day before. Their employee handbook must have an entire section on customer intimidation. Sad really. I miss the previous owner. He was such a good man. read more

Had some trouble with the AC on a road trip from LA to Nashville, and had to stop in Amarillo. Blaze was able to get my jeep in first thing in the morning and bumped it to the front of the line...turned out everything was ok but was glad they were able to make sure. Thanks! read more

This is an update review; The one before on the same subject had a 5 star, apparently I was partially in error. After allot of very expensive work on my car a complete AC was done etc, another being the power steering problems, however within a short time I had again a noise and felt a problem in the steering, thinking all this had been repaired I was not at first alarmed, however I finally returned to the automotive shop to check this, resulting in more work and expense. Most of the expense was labor the parts "gaskets washers " were only $19.00 their price, the rest almost 3 hundred.... My problem here is why should I have to pay again for apparently a problem or what should have been done on the first work when all this was apart and it evident that it was also needed. I agree mechanics work hard and most very skilled, perhaps a different mechanic, however same shop. This if I had not taken the car back in could have possibly caused more damage to my car, or an accident resulting in damage to another vehicle injury or death the others and myself, the steering is not a minor matter, brakes can be geared down so forth, but if the steering goes what then ? you have no control. Apparently the Warranty it was under was only for the parts from where they purchase them......... after MANY years of using this garage I trusted what I was told and did not ask for a written estimate/warranty when I took my car in for the original problems on that occasion. They did call with a price estimate of original work before the work was done and I did verbally o:k as was the custom for many years. I had no choice the next time I paid again for correction to their intentional over site. True the shop has to change for work however my information is that the crew is the same, and my car's problem was from a previous work there. . My Trust has been damaged my faith disarmed. . . as a senior on set income it was a hardship financially, which should not have been necessary had it been correct in the first attempt. read more

Took my truck in to repair the blower motor and oil sending unit. First week everything worked fine. 2nd week blower started cutting in and out. Took truck back. They couldn't find the problem so they recommended I change the alternator (which is brand new because I changed it recently). That didn't make sense. I ended up taking the blower motor out myself and testing it. The blower worked fine but they put the old resistor back in. They have vehemently denied any wrongdoing and refused to give me the refund on the resistor that they were supposed to change. Wont be returning and I highly advise anyone using them while they charge for parts that they aren't changing. read more

Took my 06 GMC truck in for overheating. I was pretty sure it was a thermostat, because no coolant circulated when the engine temp came up to 180 degrees. To avoid the trouble of doing this myself, I thought I would pay the professionals at Baze's to do it. How much could it cost for a thermostat after all, right? $200? $300? Wrong, they wanted $1100.00 and didn't even mention a thermostat. They said it needed all the hoses and a coolant flush. They said all the hoses were bad, and the coolant just wouldn't pass through them because the coolant was dirty and clogging things up. That was not true. The coolant was clean and perfect. No water had ever been added except for pure distilled water with a 50% mix of Dex-Cool antifreeze. The coolant was replaced completely 3 years ago when the engine was replaced. Most of the coolant hoses are just 3 years old, and hoses last a lot longer than 3 years. True, you may want to do a coolant flush every 3 years anyway, but this was not causing the truck to overheat. I paid the $114-dollar diagnostic fee and picked my truck up. By the way, the diagnostic fee still has to be paid even if you decide to fix the vehicle. Even dealerships credit the diagnostic fee if you have the vehicle repaired. I don't know if most shops have this policy or not, but it didn't seem fair. So, I went by the auto parts store, purchased a thermostat and then went to Walmart for distilled water and concentrated Dex-Cool antifreeze. After I replaced the thermostat and refilled the cooling system, the truck cools perfectly, no longer overheating. This cost me about $75.00. Less than the diagnostic fee. With that included, the project is still just $189.00. Much less than the $1100.00 they wanted. I'm sure the truck would have come out of their shop running perfectly for $1100, but they wanted to add unnecessary parts. I'm not sure what they were thinking. read more

Rustic looking facility but cordial and competent staff. While pulling a 35ft trailer behind an older Dodge pickup, I stopped in Amarillo to purchase tires. The tire dealer could not do an alignment on the truck so they recommended Carlson's Automotive. When I arrived,they were over booked for the day. Nevertheless, they cordially worked me in and did a very good job; not only on the alignment but they also changed the oil. I can unreservedly recommend them. read more

The staff were friendly and courteous. They even provided a ride to and from my home. I definitely plan to use them in the future if needed. read more
