In the past I needed to travel to New York City in order to experience the depth of fine art that I was driven to seek out. As a painter and gallery owner myself I would spend whatever time was necessary to travel to be able to see really extraordinary art galleries and as I have said they are generally located in New York City, but that has changed. A friend of mine recommended an art gallery in East Greenwich RI. I was certainly skeptical but nevertheless I took the time to go to East Greenwich from Cape Cod and I've got to tell you that it is an understatement to say it was worth it. The breadth and quality of the art that I viewed at New England Contemporary Fine Art is the absolute best that I have seen this side of New York City! If you have a chance or an opportunity to visit East Greenwich RI I cannot even begin to tell you how much you will enjoy this gallery! I met the gallery owner, i think her name was Laura, and she couldn't have been more welcoming and informative. I so enjoyed visiting this gallery and was so happy to find this quality of fine art so much closer to home than New York City that I wanted to share it with all of you. Honestly, if you're looking for an extraordinary fine art gallery this is the one to visit. I wound up purchasing two small paintings and I just love them!!

Their large space had a vast assortment of frames and mats from which to chose. I was expertly assisted in deciding on minor details like which mat best complemented the art, how to best size the mat, and which frame looked best. The work that they did for me was meticulous. The turnaround time was quick and pricing was reasonable. The staff was cordial and professional, and respectful of the art with which I entrusted them. I will return to Crestar for my future framing needs, and I recommend them without hesitation.

I arrived after/hours for the Closing Reception for the participants & was relegated to only 1 room for the event. It was a relatively small space & I'm not sure if there were other rooms. I also can't speak to what kind of art they normally display as I was only there for the event. What I can tell you is that the staff very enthusiastic about the gallery. They were so approachable & full of historical information about the venue. They certainly convinced me to come back at a later date! I was told by one of the patrons that this is one of the most under-appreciated galleries in the state & how they come here monthly. That being said, if you're looking for a museum, this isn't the place for you. But, if you're looking for a place to view local artwork, you should check it out & help support this community gem. An very under appreciated…read more museum A woman that works at the museum told me that the Warwick Museum of Art was voted the most under appreciated Museum in all of Rhode Island. I'm not sure if she told me exactly who did the voting but the statement is easy to believe. The museum is in the cool old Kentish Artillery Armory located right in the center of historic Apponaug. It's a place many people go by every day but probably not many actually stop to visit. Parking on the street is usually impossible and the whole area is a mess. They have been talking about fixing the road forever but probably never will. You have to be a bit creative in finding parking. The museum is more of a cultural center than an actually museum because the emphasis is on the new and not the old and things are always changing. The main display area is one large room and they have about a dozen or so exhibitions a year. Different things by different local artists throughout Rhode Island. A chance to check out the talent in the area. The last time I dropped in the exhibition was art by talented middle school kids and their teachers. Although I have to admit I wasn't very excited when I heard the display was going to be by kids, I was pleasantly surprised. Many very creative and original pieces were present and the talent was obvious. Besides the art shows the museum also has various music, theater, comedy and poetry readings through the year. Things are constantly changing but the one constant is the emphasis on local talent. There is no fee to see the art exhibitions and different prices for the other performances. The Warwick Museum of Art is a small place that offers a lot of different talent. It's a shame that instead of just driving by more people didn't actually take the time to drop in.

Stopped in to American Picture Frame to see what it would cost to get a vintage poster framed. I was caught off guard by how reasonably priced it turned out to be! He spent the time to demo frame colors/materials, explained the benefits of different backings and glass (who woulda even thunk it mattered!), and gave all the cost options. Exactly a week later we got the call they were done, and they look amazing! Do not go to the big chain craft store for framing. A lot of them outsource your custom order, which doesn't feel right when you think about the cost. When you hang up a print that means a lot to you, it's a great feeling to know someone from your neighborhood helped preserve it forever!

Just the tip of the iceberg - you then choose the pattern you like and specify the colors. Steve produces templates showing just how it will look, and you can make adjustments. I ordered three rugs before Covid hit, which of course, put a halt to international shipments. Elizabeth kept me up to date as trade slowly reopened and I received exactly what I ordered on the day they established.
