I recently moved to Providence and this has become my go-to place for developing film. The prints are always on time, plus it's a cute shop!

They do the Canadian passport photos correctly, which is why I chose them. They are very friendly, quick and reasonably priced. I have one piece of advice for them: turn the white paper background's speed light down at least 1 f-stop. The excess light on the background is wrapping around the subject too much, flaring the lens and reducing contrast in the image. read more

This is a tiny and cramped store where it's hard to move around if there's more than one person, but I will tell you that I got a great price on a piece of glass today. This is in fact was five dollars less than a local competitor. Bravo for the small store! read more

Worst place in Rhode Island to get film developed and scanned. I was told on two occasions it would be a week turnaround but the first time it took four weeks and nobody called to notify me about the delay. I was saddened by the quality of the "high resolution" scans which were 800px the longest edge and with sharpness over 9000 (what a pixelated mess). I have since had my film rescanned by a business in Boston. I did mention this issue to the owner and she said, "oh" in a way to make you think she was surprised by this but nothing followed after that single utterance--which basically means she knows how awful the service is but continues to offer it and doesn't care. read more

This is a nice little store and the people are very friendly but I had a bad experience here. I went to get passport photos and I specifically chose this place over CVS because they're local and a small business. Everything was fine until my photos were done. There was clearly a weird blur, which made it look as if one side of my face was bruised/melted. I pointed it out and the woman who took my picture said it was "nothing" and "not an issue". I was unhappy, however, and told her I needed this for my UK passport so they had to be right. She insisted it "wasn't noticeable" and I ended up leaving, deciding to wait until the photos were fully dry. Sure enough, they dried and it looked even worse. It really looked like I was sporting a huge black eye in the pic and the photos were unusable. Although I recognise that I should have been firmer and requested they retake the photos, I think the way my concerns were dismissed is just bad business. It's pretty obvious there was some kind of dust on the lens, causing the weird distortion in the picture. You'd think a photographer would be aware of that. I ended up going to CVS after all, paid less, and got what I wanted. read more

Honestly The Camera Werks is what little local shops should be. Pat, the store owner, is so nice when it comes to purchases. I personally got a poster framed and we went through the frames and recommendations. She was very upfront and honest and recommended an option that was cheaper than the route I was going to go. Quite rare these days for honesty like that in a store owner, but I appreciated it. Since it is a small shop, you might have to expect Pat to order something specific for your camera. She is very willing to make arrangements to do that though, so no worries on that end. I would be very happy to do business with Pat and The Camera Werks again! read more

I went in to inquire about camera repairs for my grand daughters Canon Rebel XTI digital camera. After she inspected the camera she found and fix the problem in less then 5 minutes no charge. As far as small businesses go this on is five star for me I have been there several times and never had any issues just complete professionalism. 5 stars across the board highly recommend this business. read more

I don't know why this place only has three stars! I don't know why I've never heard about it before! It seems like the kind of quirky, hipster-esque place that my fellow millennials and Rhode Islanders would be obsessed with! I always noticed this little shop when I was on Hope Street because of the neon "passport photo" sign in its window and its neon-orange doorframe. We needed our passport photos taken on a Saturday and the post office was closed so we went to see her (Patty). From the moment we walked in the door, she was super friendly and helpful! I was not expecting to find so much crammed inside her little shop. She was able to take our photos immediately in less than 5 minutes without an appointment. The cost was $11 each. She offers a ton of services aside from taking passport photos. She prints photos and is able to do everything from Instagram 4x4s (with borders!) to poster sizes! She can process traditional film and digitize old film/photos. She offers custom framing services but also sells pre-made frames. She sells traditional cameras, and I believe she can order digital ones too. Her walls are lined with all the camera equipment you could need, from film and batteries to cases and tripods. She even has a rather large selection of cards, and of course she has albums. NOTE: she can't process passport applications, but she recommended the Pawtucket Public Library to us, which begins processing at 1pm on Saturdays. read more

Very nice local business and received excellent service from the owners. Have only used it for passport pictures, twice, which were both great. Does not seem to be a store for more than basic camera gear and supplies but a nice selection of frames, cards and probably do processing. read more

Their cards and stuff for sale are often not bad. But their passport photos are really poor quality. They came out as if I had ink pouring all over my face and eyes were like panda. In retrospect, the photographer did not give enough light when she took pictures and probably did not develop pictures correctly, and they were way more expensive than CVS right across the street. I passport photo is there for a long time, like ten or twenty years, so you need to go try a better place. I tried this place because my husband insisted on me using a local store in order to support local business, but it turns out not worth the money. read more

Super service. I needed a passport photo to meet the EU specs which differ from the standard USA photo dimensions offered by AAA, the Post Office, or local drug stores. I wish I had gone to Camera Werks right away, instead of trying other options. Service was experienced and conscientious, the price was competitive, and I was very pleased. read more

This is a great local business that provided both speedy and great customer service! Pat gives each customer her full attention. She does not try to upsell product but tailors each frame job to best serve the art. read more
