I have been excited to try Bleu Canoe for a while. Glad to have finally made it. My husband and I loved the food - fried shrimp followed by the praline cheesecake, and the vibes. Loved the tin roof, outdoor seating, and live music. It was laid back and good in the best way. We felt like we were eating well in north Georgia and not at an Atlanta-esque transplant type restaurant. Also loved the friendly service. Would definitely return. read more

This spot has an awesome New Orleans vibe--especially the patio! The bar looks like the perfect place to catch an LSU or Saints game, and the whole place just feels like a little slice of Louisiana in Georgia. As a Louisiana transplant, I definitely appreciate the focus on Creole/Cajun cuisine. I stopped in for lunch and ordered the Cobb Salad and a cup of chicken and andouille sausage gumbo. The Cobb Salad was phenomenal--huge, loaded with all the classic toppings, and packed with crispy bacon. I asked for grilled shrimp on top (not listed, but available if you ask), and they were big, perfectly cooked, and added the perfect touch. 10/10. The gumbo was a filé-style, and while the texture and balance of chicken, andouille sausage (which had a great kick), and rice were just right, the broth itself was a bit one-note--mainly the filé flavor came through. I probably wouldn't order it again, but to be fair, I make a pretty killer gumbo myself, so I might be spoiled! I'm already planning my next visit to try the chargrilled oysters (all the varieties!), plus the étouffée and jambalaya. Stay tuned for updates--this place is definitely on my radar! read more

My wife and I went there for dinner from our home in. Roswell for the first time.The greeter was unbelievably nice and help -way beyond the normal getting us parked and seated quickly. The server was also nice and helpful but the food was absolutely fantastic. I had the meatloaf and my wife had the crab cakes. Both were superb. read more

Great place in the woods near Lake Burton. The restaurant is rustic, comfortable and tastefully updated. They have a full bar and also a handful of drafts on hand. Food is generally creole-based, but they also offer other items; it would be hard not to find something you would enjoy here! I had the Shrimp Po boy with a side of jambalaya. Po boy was good, but could have used a few more shrimp and I wasn't a big fan of the thick, crusty bread; jambalaya was great! read more

My husband and I were staying near Helen for the weekend. He happened to stumble on Bleu Canoe on yelp and showed me. I'm so happy he did! From start to finish, Bleu Canoe made us feel like we were the only people in there. It's obvious they care. They have the most adorable indoor and outdoor dining area. We shared the Rockefeller oysters - I don't normally eat oysters, mind you - and I highly recommend them! The spinach are cheese are so good! For dinner, I had the carb cakes with sautéed spinach and jambalaya. My husband had shrimp jambalaya. WOW. GREAT FLAVOR on everything! At the end of our dinners, we had two clean plates. I would highly recommend skipping the tour town restaurants in Helen and take the 20-25 minute journey to Bleu Canoe for some good food. This is a hidden gem. The service was second to none and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We met the owner, Jim Smith, and he is obviously a hands on guy. He was doing a little bit of everything. If you are anywhere near here I would strongly suggest stopping in for lunch or dinner. One thing; if you order the BBQ shrimp it is very spicy. So we came up here to visit family and decided to stay in Bleu Canoe. First, the cabin... it is wonderful. Rustic yes but soooo relaxing! The restaurant is phenomenal! Our server, Cierra was attentive and had a great attitude. My wife had told me on the way up here that the owners were originally the owners of Harry Bissets in Athens. I had gone there when I was at UGA in the late 80's and early 90's! I loved it! We were fortunate to meet one of the owners, Jim. The food was sooo good! My wife had the crawfish etoufee. She said it was amazing! I had the oyster sampler with a side salad. The oysters were absolutely delicious and the salad was very fresh. Camping with five other couples at Moccasin Creek State park and we all came here for dinner. First, it's a very cool place to come if the weather is good for eating outside. It's a great atmosphere. Second, the wait staff was outstanding and handled our group smoothly. They are knowledgeable and professional. The food was mixed in quality. I think other couples in our group had a better experience, some complementing the oysters, meatloaf, and huge salads. Wife had Cajun popcorn crawfish. They were tiny, all bread and over spiced even for cajun. I had Jumbalya and the sauce was good but the rice must have been cooked hours ago, it was basically rice paste. We also had a Crab Bisque that was just OK, not much flavor. I gave it 4 stars based on the ambiance, service and the experience of the whole group - not my wife and I who would have given it 3 stars. For appetizer, I ordered the She Crab Bisque with sherry. Main course, I ordered the Fried Shrimp platter with 2 sides to choose from. I chose the Creamed Spinach and the Zucchini with mushrooms. We've had oyster Rockefeller and bienville (both great choices). You can get half a dozen of one kind or a combo platter for the same price! The fried shrimp and Maui thibodaux were wonderful as the shrimp were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The Maui is covered with a delicious and generous portion of crawfish etouffee. Ok, their food and drink is really good. Great atmosphere to hang out any time of year. BUT this review is about the above and beyond hospitality and friendship from Jim (owner) and Kyle (manager). I mistakenly left my cabin in Sautee with my car key fob on the top of my car. As I drove to Bleu Canoe the fob fell to the ground somewhere. When I arrived to BC on Christmas Eve, had a great meal, wine, Falcons win and tried to drive home. Nope. No key fob, not going anywhere. Mind you, I have no idea where my fob is, but this was not my desired predicament as the sun set on Christmas Eve. Jim and Kyle, without hesitation drove me to my cabin 10 minutes away, helped me search for my fob, Kyle found my fob, and return me back to BC. Above and beyond the call of duty!! This restaurant was a little out of our way but Soooo worth the trip. Great ambiance with great service, in a private setting; even had a musician singing off to the side. The owner stopping by to check on us was also a nice touch. All of our food was absolutely perfect ... from the fresh bread... to the Praline Cheescake for dessert. We camped at Moccasin Creek State Park and decided to go out for dinner. We arrived at 6:15 PM at the restaurant and the place was packed, but we were able to get the last free 2 person table on the patio. We ordered the Shrimp Po-boy and Andouille Saus Po-boy. Food came out quickly and we didn't even have time to finish our bread appetizer. Service was fantastic and Kenna did a great job keeping our drinks refilled, asking if we're doing OK, and promptly giving us our check. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. One word: PASSION!!!! This establishment was a bit tricky to find, but well worth it! We were seated immediately in this very warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff are very friendly, including their precious white Labrador greeter!! I love the cleanliness of this restaurant, they are very up to Covid standards. The server was wearing his mask as well as disposable gloves the entire service. The bathrooms were also very clean. Now onto the drinks, the drinks are some of the most delicious I've ever had - not to mention the bloody Mary's. The bleu Mary Had bacon in it! I mean BACON!!! THIS drink was made with PASSION!!! Very delicious!! The oysters Rockefeller and Bienville were absolutely delicious did not need any salt or pepper or any sauce, they were perfect all by themselves (adding a squeeze of lemon wasn't necessary, but it added just a perfect enough zest to make it extra special!!) We ordered the crawfish Etoufee As an entrée and it was absolutely delicious! We decided to split ours between the two of us, but it would've been extremely large if we hadn't. You get plenty of crawfish and meal for the price!! Full of chunky crawfish, which is hard to get with a crawfish Entrée. The desert was made by a local business nearby, but it was very fresh. The praline sauce was made in house and you can absolutely tell!! Very full of flavor for such a small little treat. It was the perfect top off for our dinner!! Needless to say, we will definitely be back!! If you are in the area it is well worth the drive, just be sure that when you plug in the address on your GPS to include "circle" and not "drive" after the address or it will take you to another location! read more
