    Chicken tacos
    Joan R.

Had lunch and dinner here when visiting Helen, Georgia. I ordered an Asian salad, some fried green tomatoes for lunch. The tomatoes were great , the Asian salad mediocre. My friends had chicken tacos and enjoyed them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere comfortable, service was good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ate here again for dinner because a group of friends decided to have dinner there. I had a mushroom burger. It was overcooked and dry, flat and I did not enjoy it. But I was hungry and ate it. The coleslaw was good better than my burger.

Stopped in for a late afternoon lunch while passing through town. The parking lot had plenty of spaces, which is much more accommodating than on a weekend. We walked in a waited a few minutes to be seated. The music through our stay wa late 80's early 90's rock so that was nice. We were seated at a booth near the bar. The booth was comfortable but smelled vaguely of musty mop. Our server was quick to see us and take our orders. I had the Balboa, which is advertised as a Philly cheese steak. I have had this in the past, years ago, and today it seemed different. It was not really a Philly, it was more a cross between a French dip and an Italian beer. The meet rather than being fries seemed more like a roast beef that was in an au jus. It had a cheese sauce on it and it was all on a substantial roll. The flavor was ok. The fries could have cooked a couple more minutes and tasted of oil. Megan had a patty melt. It looked like it was on Texas toast, but no, that is just an inside out bun. This was unique! Megan liked it fine. There is plenty of dining in Helen. Many people like Big Daddy's for the live music on the weekends and the good beer selection.

Will have to say we certainly enjoyed the food and the bartender Brooke was awesome!! She was so pleasant as she was getting bombed with orders....thank you Brooke! The food was good, we tried tacos, tendies, a hamburger and a Philly sandwich. Yup, multiple visits. Tendies and tots were unique..two fried/sauced tendies on a bed of tots with melted cheese. Good stuff. The hamburger was cooked a perfect juicy medium while the Philly was very meaty and on a perfect crisp soft pillowy bread. Last, the tacos..shrimp fried to perfection and substantially filled!!! So, so good!! Thx Bigg Daddy's! Our next visit to Helen will include a visit..or two....or maybe even three!

Unwedged salad and beer muscles. Great food!

My Hubby and I decided to try this place. Bigg Daddy's was a great place to eat! The food was very good. We had the pimento cheese w/ Greek bread for the starter, then got the chicken tenders which they glaze with the sauce of your choosing, it also came with Mac and cheese!! Very very good. Our server was very good and attentive and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance at this place was wonderful[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], we thoroughly enjoyed it all and will go back to try some more good food..

Pedro with blue cheese instead of pepper jack cheese
    Alec B.

Amazing spot!! Opted for the Pedro burger with blue cheese instead of pepper jack and it was phenomenal. Cooked medium so it was super juicy. The raspberry jalapeño sauce adds a really nice touch. Would be great on the wings! The balboa cheesesteak was huge with a good proportion of meat and cheese to bread. Their house made cheese wiz has a great rich flavor. Waffle fries came out hot and crispy but nothing special. Definitely need some type of seasoning but salt and pepper done the job. Unfortunately with shrink-flation they no longer give you a obnoxious amount of fries with your order A must try in Helen!

Just a regular restaurant you can go to in any city for burgers or wings. Thought the German city of Helen would have some German theme, they don't. Food was ok, nothing great. Consider a different restaurant if visiting Helen and looking for German. They do have a very good bourbon selection if looking for a bar. I plus would be the lower price for food.

My son loves going to Helen for something to do and we went on Fathers Day. Just an hour from Lawrenceville right up 985 with little traffic. Arrives at noon and seated immediately with our server Jayla as we looked through the menu. Iced Teas delivered after we made our selections. When asked how my son wanted his burger, he answered "Big". Our food came out exactly how we ordered it. I had the Pedro with a huge mushroom subbed for the beef Pattie. My son had the Daddy Cheese with bacon, and I had my bacon on the side so he got to power up his burger with that! I finished my plate and my son got a Togo container for half his burger. Jayla took excellent care of us with Iced Teas to go for our walkabout through Helen By the time we left the waiting to be seated section was at capacity. Get there before noon people !!

Great food, excellent service and good vibe! We loved eating at this restaurant during our trip to Helen! Shrimp and grits was different - it was more curried than the ones I have had in past. Asian chicken salad was fresh and tasty. Nuggets and tots didn't disappoint. My cocktail was on a sweeter side but tasted good! Restaurant wS super busy but our food came out in time and was cooked to perfection!

Went here on wings Wednesday. The place was busy but the service was fantastic. Our server Tanner was friendly and attentive. My wife got chicken tenders in peach bbq sauce. I got wings 1/2 cajunyaki and 1/2 hot lemon pepper. Both the wings and tenders were cooked exquisitely. The sauce on everything was generous and great. We also got the fried green tomatoes they were good as well. Highly recommend if you are in the Helen area.

Big Daddy's. Appetizers and pizza are insane.

Can't beat the service and food insane appetizer pizza Philly cheesesteak in plenty of beer options

Does this place allow dogs in outside seating area?

I know they did about 6 months ago, we brought our two dogs hiking and stopped in for a burger afterwards. They even brought out a bowl of water for them. An all around GREAT place to eat!

If you've spent more than five minutes eating your way through Alpine Helen GA, you already know…read morethe truth: finding genuinely good, made-from-scratch food here feels like a competitive sport--and most places are losing. Campfire Restaurant isn't just winning... it's playing a completely different game. I've been here since day one, watching owner Matt and his crew build this place with intention and pride. This isn't a "let's open and see what happens" spot--this is passion, detail, and respect for doing food right. In a town where "authentic" can mean reheated and overpriced, Campfire stands out like a perfectly cooked ribeye in a sea of mediocrity. The vibe hits immediately--rustic North Georgia lodge meets modern comfort. Wood, textures, that Smoky Mountains ambiance. Indoor dining is cozy, outdoor dining under Edison lights is where the magic lives. It's date night, family dinner, or "I survived today" energy all in one place. Locals recommend this place for a reason--and locals don't hype things lightly. Now the food. Everything is made in-house--real Southern food, comfort food, and American food with flavor and consistency. The Southwest Gunpowder Nachos? Legendary. Handmade chips, massive portions--get steak and extra corn. It's two meals unless you're me. Best value in Helen. The smash burger is easily one of the best in Georgia--juicy, consistent, unforgettable. Fried chicken is solid, but locals will tell you: get the chicken tenders. Ribeye is tender, juicy, and always recommended. Mac and cheese? Creamy, different--but I'll admit I'm biased because mine is elite. Still worth trying. And the s'mores dessert--if you don't have room, make room. It's rich, indulgent, and perfect for date night or birthdays. Service has that "Cheers" feel--friendly, consistent, no judgment if you roll in looking like life just happened. They remember you, take care of you, and that matters. Parking is easy in the Alpine village shopping center. Seating is quick if you're smart about timing (don't be silly). Live music adds to the vibe without overpowering it. Prices are reasonable (rare for Helen), portions are big, and quality stays consistent--that trifecta is everything. This is a bucket list, must visit, locals favorite, top rated spot in Alpine Helen GA. Whether it's Oktoberfest, a Smoky Mountains trip, or just a Friday night--this is where you go when you want food that actually delivers. And honestly? In this town... that says everything. #facts REASONS TO VISIT: 1. Must visit, bucket list restaurant in Alpine Helen GA 2. Locals favorite, top rated, best in North Georgia 3. When a server set the steak on the table shortly after, I asked for 57 sauce, as I'm a sauce guy. When the server brought it back he told me to try a bite without sauce as their steaks are well seasoned. Boy was he right! The gunpowder seasoning along with the clarified butter really enhanced the flavor of the ribeye. My wife gave me a bite of her chicken Alfredo and it was well seasoned too. Nice balance of garlic. The sides are the reason for a the 4 star review, though if judged by the steak alone, it would easily be a 5 star review. I ordered the loaded mashed potatoes, and they were topped with cheese and bacon. The potatoes needed seasoning. Mostly salt, pepper, and butter. The same could be said of the Mac and cheese. Our server was amazing. He had a great personality, and made sure we had a good meal The restaurant was clean.

We started with the Pretzel Bites which were essentially deep fried pieces of pretzels. Not sure who thought to say this was Bavarian style. I'm not entirely sure they were deep fried but they had a very thick batter and tasted similar to say an onion ring batter. Very crunchy even through. We're pescatarian anyway so food is always limited in tourist towns (but far easier to find options in Germany than in Helen). I decided to go with the veggie burger which was a black bean patty from Morningstar. Honestly I like them and we asked before anyway so this was fine with me. The bread was good and the fries were fresh and hot. My wife got the fish platter I think it was called and it was pretty bad. She could eat the fries but not all of the fish. It was heavily deep fried and you could flick it putting a dent in the batter. My son got the fried shrimp which he ate a couple of but then said he was done. My wife tried his and said it was better than the fish platter so had a couple. We went with two friends who shared chicken tenders. They weren't impressed, to me they looked like chicken schnitzel it was so thin. I'm not going to judge quality on chicken though so it may be good? Location and service was the main thing going for it. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, we sat outside and we could watch people float by tubing so people watching was good. The atmosphere at this time during lunch was pretty quiet and chill. I could see it getting packed in the evenings especially for those going out for drinks. Overall I can't say I was surprised by the quality but I hoped I would be wrong. For the cost and quality of food we won't go back.
