In the end, they did give me a gift card for a Rochester restaurant ($75.00) to help with the frustration, but it shouldn't have come to that. I fully understand that everyone had problems getting product during COVID, but my complaints aren't related to that. Here is a timeline of my experiences with Val-U-Blinds: * 6/28/21 - owner overcharged me $160.71 for taxes. When I realized it and brought it to her attention, she did apologize and said she would mail me a check to repay it. It took 3 weeks to receive it! * 7/29/21 - blinds were installed but the large patio blind end caps didn't fit. I was told there was nothing they could do so I had to hire a machinist to cut them for me at an extra cost for me. * After installation I realized there was a hole in the patio blind. I left messages on 8/2, 8/9, and 8/16. Someone finally called me back on 8/17 and asked me to send them pictures of the defect which I did right away on 8/17. * 9/23/21 - I checked with them after hearing nothing since 8/17 and was told they would check into it. * 10/12/21 - I left a message again after no return call since 9/23. I received a voice mail back on 10/12 saying the estimated completion date for replacement was 10/18. * 11/17/21 - Left message again - no response until 12/7. * 12/7/21 - They called me and set up an appointment for 12/10 to install replacement. * 12/10/21 - Nobody showed up for the appointment and nobody called me!! * 12/14/21 - I called to check again and was told the blinds weren't in yet! * 4/12/22 - I waited 4 months to check in again and didn't get a response. * 4/14/22 - I called again and owner said they would check into it. * 4/15/22 - they called back and asked for pictures again!!! After re-sending pictures they called back and scheduled the install for 5/2 at 12:00. * 5/2/22 - nobody showed up at 12:00! I called and was told it wasn't on the schedule but they did send someone at 3:00. Installation is finally complete!! As you can see, this process took over 10 months! Customer service is the worst! Hunter Douglas blinds are sold by many other companies that provide MUCH better service.

Highly Recommend - Outstanding Work on a Challenging 1906 Duplex!…read more The Larson Siding and Window team recently replaced all the windows, storm doors, and entry doors on my 3-story duplex in Rochester, MN. Built in 1906, most of the original windows were over 100 years old--well past due for an upgrade. What could have been a stressful and complicated project turned out to be a smooth and even enjoyable experience, thanks to Tim, Bob, Ryan, and the rest of the crew. They showed up when they said they would, completed the job on time, and consistently met (or exceeded) my very high quality expectations. This wasn't an easy job, but they handled it with skill, professionalism, and great attitudes. On top of that, their pricing was competitive--and in my case, they delivered significantly more value than other bids I received. My father was so impressed with their work, he asked for a quote for his own project! I'm incredibly grateful to the Larson team and would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. That was far from the truth. It turns out that we had a leak in the attic that we found out 2 weeks after we moved in. Later on a house inspection revealed that in the basement 3 things were not done by building code. One problem had to do with the sink in the basement bar area that had flexible tubing underneath. The other two problems were the outlets in BOTH the basement bathroom and the basement bar--there was no GCFI outlet in neither of those places! Very disappointing and scary, as we had friends renting the basement for one year before discovering this. What can be more basic than GCFIs?! I'd not recommend this business.
