    Ben I.

Lynn and the Bliss In Bloom team were beyond fantastic. The level of coordination and planning allowed us to focus on each other and the celebration of our marriage on the night of the ceremony and reception which was so wonderful. Lynn especially deserves so much adulation helping us make everything work so well in the toughest of times through COVID-19 and the seemingly constant change of local regulations. Further, the detailed timeline and fantastic communication with us and all of our vendors was appreciated on all fronts. We could not be happier with the work of her and her team.

Coming from one of the worst-case-scenario COVID brides, Bliss in Bloom are truly the most wonderful wedding planning humans, let me tell you why. Our March 28, 2020 wedding was canceled the day the CDC banned 50 person gatherings. We were 2 days away from leaving. As an ICU nurse, this was an extremely difficult time to not only choose to postpone our dream wedding, but wait in uncertainty. And we waited, and waited, and waited, for months. Hawaii's travel guidelines were not only the most limited but continued far beyond everywhere else.  As things began to slowly open up in Hawaii, we began to pick up the pieces and replan. Throughout the roller coaster emotions, Allison was there with us for it all. She, of all people, more than understood how devastating and frustrating this was for us. She listened, was kind, understanding, supportive, and was above all always patient with us. Responses were always quick, thoughtful, and genuine in giving feedback to help my extreme indecisiveness. I appreciated how positive and fluid her relationships with the other vendors were, and come the day of, all worked together like a well oiled machine (post COVID mind you). This was very telling of how well she ran Bliss in Bloom, operating in a small community who honor and live aloha.  Up until our new big day, many things were still uncertain. Allison was honest in expectations and was prepared for anything to happen. A few days before the wedding, Hawaii required an event form be submitted and approved to have our wedding. Before I could even worry, she of course was on top of it and we were approved. Just to make sure we abided by our paperwork, 9 of Kona's finest police officers made an appearance during the reception (must have been a slow night?). Some guests told me of how Allison was on them at the doorway, paperwork in hand and teeth out ready to defend our wedding day! They joked about being strippers, wished us well, and we got a priceless photo out of it.  In the end, May 1, 2021 was perfect. I have goosebumps sitting here looking back on just how truly perfect it was. I can't help but feel our original date needed to fall apart for the new one to come together. And Bliss in Bloom made that happen. I am overcome with endless gratitude and love for Allison and the Bliss in Bloom team. Did I mention she even pinned the boutonnière on my groom? On top of the many duties she had that day! Nothing short from above and beyond. It was my second easiest YES I have ever said! Don't even second guess it, BOOK THEM!

When we got engaged in the fall of 2018, we decided to do a destination wedding on the Big Island. Out of all the wedding planners we reached out to, Allison at Bliss in Bloom was the first to respond and she was very excited to work with us. She did not discourage us that it was too early to plan for a 2020 wedding. Allison has planned many weddings without the couple ever stepping onto the island, but what better way to do a weekend getaway for "wedding planning?" We flew out three times from LAX over the following year and we met up with Allison every time. We knew we were in good hands. She would even point out things we never knew we needed! She has worked with many vendors on the island and we trusted her insight. Allison also worked with us whenever we felt one of the vendors was out of our budget. We used the Aisle Planner website to keep track of our vendors, decisions, budget, and inspiration pictures. Allison and her team were easily accessible by text and email. They contacted all the vendors for us and figured out what deposits were needed. As it got closer to our wedding day, Allison scheduled monthly phone calls with us to make sure everything was still on track. In March 2020, our lives changed and the pandemic threw the biggest wrench at all our hard work. We desperately held on to our wedding date in April 2020 as we dealt with our shrinking guest count. Allison kept us in the loop on what was happening on the island. It was not long before we ultimately postponed our special day. While we were stuck in California, Allison notified all our vendors and took care of everything on the island, including scheduling the new wedding date for 2021. Fast forward a year later, we reached out to Allison to tie up any loose ends from the previous year. She followed up on new COVID restrictions and remaining balances with the vendors and we let her know the final guest count. DAY OF COORDINATION Allison and her team, Lynn and Kirsten, attended the church rehearsal the day before the wedding. It's a good thing we already planned out the timeline prior to the day of the wedding because everything left our brains on the wedding day. As the bridal party got dolled up, the Bliss in Bloom team overlooked the setup at both the venue and the church. I had to hide in the car before the church ceremony and Allison sensed I felt lonely. I'm so thankful Kirsten kept me company in the car to distract me from my nerves! The team made sure we stayed on schedule with toasts and dinner so we can have beautiful sunset photos. We had appetizers and drinks at our sweetheart table during cocktail hour. We also had plenty to eat for dinner and we were so full! Allison even had safety pins when the wedding dress bustle could not handle all the partying. At the end of the night, the team handled the breakdown of the venue as the bridal party left with plenty of flowers and leftovers. Do not hesitate when it comes to Bliss in Bloom! It was the best decision we made and two years of wedding planning were finally made into a beautiful reality. If Bliss in Bloom can handle a pandemic, they can handle any wedding hurdle. We will miss working with these lovely ladies and we look forward to coming back to the Big Island soon!

Bliss and Bloom for the win. Our wedding planner, Lynn, basically saved our entire wedding. We had a major issue 3 hours before the start of the ceremony. It's a really long story, but the venue we had originally booked wouldn't let our officiant in (they weren't on the "guest list"). Lynn also was not "on the list". We panicked and pandemonium ensued. We were not ready to give up on our original spot. We argued and fought with the venue's management for hours, always seemingly only a few minutes away from reaching a deal. While we were in sheer denial of what was happening, Lynn knew that things were not going to work out. At the last minute, she coordinated an alternative location, on the same beach but about a mile down from where we were originally planning to be. This location ended up being even better and we cannot thank her enough! Bliss & Bloom, you saved us.

Kirsten and her team from Bliss in Bloom were the best wedding planners my wife and I could ever ask for. We had the unfortunate experience of having to delay our original wedding date on March 28, 2020 to an uncertain time in the future. Through it all, Kirsten has been there for us. If our wedding proceeded as planned on March 28th, Kirsten definitely made the process as painless as possible. We had many scattered ideas of what we wanted, and Kirsten was able to make sense of all of It and create a wedding that was picture perfect. A week from our wedding date, we had decided to postpone due to COVID concerns. Kirsten did all the legwork to contact our vendors, and checked up on us periodically just to see how we were doing. We then settled for February 2021, but again decided to delay to June (a full 15 months from our original date!) for vaccination purposes. Again, Kirsten did everything to make the process so smooth. Then the big day came - there were no hiccups, all the pieces fell perfectly into place, and everything was so picturesque. We could not be happier with how everything went. Even the small stuff that may have been issues, were not issues at all because of the Bliss in Bloom team. Seriously, if you are reading this wondering if Bliss in Bloom would act in your best interest, or if you don't know who to choose because it may seem so overwhelming, keep this in mind - Kirsten was such a supportive part of one of the most testing and grueling experiences in wedding planning, and still, she handled it with such grace. You want someone who is organized, compassionate, down-to-earth, experienced, and professional, and she was all that and more. Kirsten - thank you for making our day so special. You're the best!

Just had our wedding last week and it was like a dream! Lynn was our "day of" coordinator. She was organized, professional, and responsive, not to mention she was also a super sweet person whom you would want to be friends with. I'm meticulous and tends to micromanage, so it was super important to find a planner that I could trust. Lynn was exactly that person! She incorporated all the decor elements I wanted and brought extra stuff to create the tablescape and welcome table exactly as (or even better than) my vision! She understood our needs perfectly and considered all the details (e.g. lighting up the sparklers and handling them to the guests at the right time), so we could enjoy every moment of our wedding day! Some of the other vendors were also happy that we chose Bliss in Bloom. I would definitely recommend them to any couple who's considering a wedding on the Big Island.

Our wedding was amazing and flawless, THANKS TO LYNN! She was our month of coordinator, but she took care of us months prior to our wedding. She consistently communicated with us to make sure we were feeling good, that things were organized and that I, bride, was happy! On the day of, I didn't worry about a thing. Lynn and her team really go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. On top of it all, Lynn is one of the sweetest people you will meet. I am so glad that we chose Bliss In Bloom and I am so thankful for Lynn for making my day perfect!

Makena Weddings made these postponements soooo easy for us, finding new dates, rescheduling all our vendors, and giving us nothing but support through the whole process! We worked primarily with Cindy, and the entire experience of planning our destination wedding at Olowalu Plantation House was a breeze! Wedding planning has a reputation of being super stressful, but honestly our experience could not be any different with the amazing support, guidance, and obviously logistics-handling that Cindy provided. Cindy brought our vision board to life with the perfect vendors for rentals, her recommendations were spot on, and moreover, she was so attentive to details. My husband and I consider ourselves very detail-oriented, and we were so happy that Cindy paid careful attention to every little thing, called out anything that might bother us so that we could consider readjusting, and took care of every situation without skipping a beat. The day of our wedding could not have gone smoother. Everything was perfect, we were so carefully attended to, and the evening went flawlessly without a single worry from us. If you want the beautiful wedding of your dreams, no stress or worries, and wonderfully caring and detail-focused people to work with, look no further than Makena Weddings!

Laurie and Cindy guided us through their beach package, adding a musician at our request (they booked Marvin Tevaga), recommending the perfect beach location, arranging Amber Quale Photography, and having co-founder Reverend Al Terry officiate. The bride shared a few bouquet ideas, and the result was stunning. We planned everything over email just a month in advance, and every vendor they recommended was outstanding. As Laurie predicted, we had the beach to ourselves. Mother Nature gave us a breathtaking sunset that Amber captured beautifully, Marvin's ukulele and voice added elegance and joy, and Al not only felt like family but was genuinely engaged--helping us focus on the meaning of the moment rather than just the logistics. If you want a stress-free, classy, and unforgettable beach wedding ceremony, Makena Weddings is the way to go.

Ajani, the wedding officiant and Sophorn, the photographer were both warm, responsive, kind and just lovely humans to be around for our small elopement on the beach. We arranged the entire elopement in a week without fuss or stress. I wanted flowers and my partner wanted a ukulele player, those were the only things we wanted to add to the Pearls packaged offered by Infinite Bliss; Ajani and Sophorn gave us some local Kona-area recommendations that worked out perfectly to meet our needs and support local artists. The Ceremony: We were married on a beautiful beach that Ajani recommended and had an intimate ceremony with just us. The ceremony incorporated some of the beautiful Hawaiian language and culture without feeling like cultural appropriation and Ajani gave us a moment during the ceremony to talk to each other without any pressure of written vows. His words were personal, inspiring, hopeful and brought in a spirit of joy and love. Ajani consulted with us during planning by phone (not just email); he reached out and we were able to chat with him about what we were looking for so he could personalize our ceremony. His words on the beach, in the moment were touching, spiritual and personal - exactly what we had hoped. The Photography: Because our family couldn't be there, we wanted to pay for a photographer for our tiny ceremony; Sophorn did a wonderful job capturing the quite moments as well as the ceremony and beauty of the atmosphere. We were hard to photograph; neither of us is photogenic and we were both nervous. Somehow Sophorn captured photos of when we were most relaxed and being ourselves. She used the environment and beauty of the beach, sunset, lava, trees and ocean around us and made us feel comfortable while trying to help us relax. The package: We purchased the Pearls package with a ceremony, photographer, photo access, leis and personalized certificate and photo slide show. We had our first batch of photos and the slideshow within a few weeks of our ceremony, but Sophorn gave us two beautiful pictures to share with family within a week so we could share with family right away. We are still waiting for the full gallery of photos with more candid shots (also part of the package). They are taking a bit longer than I would have liked, but I am not concerned. Sophorn kindly shared the best photos with us in a timely way, so that we could bring our family into the moment. The slideshow she created was true to the feel of our wedding and the feel of Hawaii. Infinite Bliss Weddings is reasonably priced and though they are a small operation, they have everything you will need for a quiet and beautiful wedding on the Big Island. I can't recommend them enough.

But after repeatedly hearing that hiring a wedding planner was worth every penny, we decided we would give it a try. I'm so glad we did. Now I'm the one telling engaged couples, "it's worth every penny!" I've outlined our thoughts on their services below - hopefully it will help you make your decision as well. :) PACKAGES: Swept Away provides an array of packages that are fairly priced and can be tailored to fit the needs of your wedding. I loved that they offered everything from day-of coordination, to event design, to full-service coordination, and more! We went with the full-service coordination package, which was much needed for a busy bride and groom like ourselves. Also, because we lived on O'ahu and were planning to be married on the Big Island, it was super helpful to work with a team who lived there. DETAIL + DESIGN: Contrary to the stereotype that every woman has dreamt of their wedding day since they were a little girl, I had not done any planning or dreaming prior to getting engaged. The only thing I knew was that I wanted an outdoor wedding. I felt that Swept Away was strongest in this area of wedding planning. Since I seemed to like anything and everything on Pinterest, they helped me hone my overflow of diverse ideas, made design suggestions, and gave practical feedback that elevated the vision I was forming along the way. I've included a few photos that illustrate some of the ideas that came to life. Also, if you check out their Instagram account (@SweptAwayEvents), you can view a bunch of other design masterpieces they've done! COMMUNICATION: As a communications professional, I can't even begin to tell you how important this is to me. My world is fast-paced, so timely and complete responses are crucial! Tiffany (one of the owners), was quite on top of it. She replied to every one of my emails and answered all of my questions. She deserves an award or something; I must've sent her several hundred emails over the course of our 8-month engagement! DAY-OF: They say no wedding day is 100% perfect, but I'd say ours was pretty darn close thanks to Swept Away. Our wedding had a lot of details and moving parts, but Tiffany and her team stayed on top of it. They were professional, timely, calm and helpful. We ate, we danced, we spent time with our friends and family, and the event surpassed our expectations! I had originally considered asking a friend to handle day-of coordination (to save some money), but after seeing how much work it was, I'm so glad we didn't. All of our friends were able to fully celebrate our day with us. If you're still not convinced by my lengthy review, I encourage you to at least call or email Swept Away just to ask a few questions and get to know the team. Eventually his mom decided that she needed help and we hired Ashley from Swept Away. I had little to no involvement in the actual planning process, but I can tell you that Ashley talked to my mom, my husband or his mother ally the time. There is a 6 hour time difference with us here and she always found the time to walk them through whatever concerns they were having. The hotel gave my parents some bait and switch action once we got there and Ashley was the mediator and really fought for us. The rehearsal and day of she was on top of every little detail. She had Danielle (also from Swept Away) helping her and she was also super lovely and helpful and they were both cool as a cucumber on the outside even though I am sure it wasn't easy. But their calm demeanor kept everyone else calm too. Now the fun stuff. Holy wow. Since I had no involvement in the planning I had no idea what the wedding would look like. It was something out of a Martha Stewart magazine. Not even joking. I never even wanted a wedding and I can honestly say now that it was THE BEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL thing ever and none of that would be possible without Ashley and the girls at Swept Away. Thank you guys a million times over. We can't wait to grab a drink or coffee next time we are over there!
