So chef Katherine and crew did an absolutely perfect event. The food was superb. We also did a ukulele player for the cocktail and dinner time and that's a must do. Not only were our meals scrumptious, each meal was uniquely prepared whether it had an Asian, Italian, Mexican, French, and Hawaiian flare, and beautifully presented. We throughly enjoyed every morsel. Her attention to detail is evident in everything from ascertaining our likes/dislikes, creating the menus, to perfectly executing each meal. Only the best local and fresh products were used, whether it was fish, lobster, prawns, lamb, beef, pork, and a variety of fruits. Her team members, Jacqui and Jennifer, also did an amazing job beautifully setting up the table, and assisting Chef Katherine serve us in a seamless manner. They lovingly made our granddaughter the center of attention. Recently we returned from an enjoyable week in Kona with 9 family members. We rented a beautiful 5-bedroom home. The highlight of the trip was a 5-star private dinner prepared by Chef Katherine from Outrageous Gourmet. From drinks to dessert, she and her staff presented a fabulous dinner. Starting with the Lilikoi Mai Tais and ending with the Tropical Bananas Foster, we all agreed every item was magnificent. Our menu: Dynamite Crab, Shrimp & Corn Cakes - excellent presentation. The Kaffir lime vinaigrette accented the cakes making a light & tasty pupu. The entrée of mixed grilled vegetables, coconut rice, grilled mahimahi, and pulled pork. (Hawaiian surf & turf!) was superb! The coconut rice was unique and tasted fantastic! We asked for the recipe, but understandably, she would not share. We hope the recipe will be in her up-coming cook book, which we all plan to buy. At the end of the meal, Chef Katherine kindly described all of the selections and answered all of our questions about the dishes. She and her staff prepared and served a beautiful meal. This is the second time I've had the pleasure of eating Chef Katherine's food and it was even more remarkable than I remember it being the first time. From boldly flavorful yet delicate appetizers to tasty Mai Tais served in copper pineapple glasses, this was a dining experience I won't soon forget. Prawns drizzled in truffle oil and topped with blue cheese accompanied with the mai tia was a perfect start to the meal. We then moved to a mushroom egg roll that you would think a bit heavy before dinner, but turned out to be a light crispy treat that I could probably eat 12 of if Chef Katherine would let me. The main course was a sesame encrusted ono with amazingly flavorful coconut rice. It's at this point in the meal that you start to question why you haven't been eating coconut rice with every meal your whole life. The fish is incredibly fresh and topped with a ginger and Tahitian sauce so good it leaves you with the face a child has after discovering ice cream for the first time. The meal ends with a chocolate lava cake with brown sugar and bourbon at the center of it. Perfectly rich, light and moist. Though there were other incredibly delicious bites, these were by far my favorite. After getting engaged on the Big Island of Hawaii in late February 2020, we made the decision that we wanted to get married in Hawaii. Before departing, we had our venue and date (September 2021) picked out but knew we couldn't plan the wedding from New Jersey without help. After doing some research and recommendations from family, we decided to reach out to Chef Katherine at Outrageous Gourmet. Shortly after requesting a wedding consultation, Chef Katherine reached out to us via telephone. Our initial conversation lasted over two hours and by the time we hung up, we knew she was the one. Then COVID-19 hit, but we pushed ahead!!! We continued to plan our wedding with Chef Katherine. She stayed positive, but always had a contingency plan in the event we had to make any changes. During the early stages, we had our entire wedding day planned out, including vendor options, the menu, and everything worked within our budget. Chef Katherine has a very creative mind and was never short of suggestions or great ideas. Once we laid out the initial groundwork, all we had to do was fine tune the plan and hope that COVID restrictions would not interfere with our wedding day. Unfortunately, the heightened restrictions brought on by the spike in cases almost put an end to our special day. However, with Chef Katherine's help and guidance, we were able to apply for and receive an exemption which allowed us to proceed with our wedding. We arrived back in Hawaii a little less than a week before our wedding. The day after our arrival, we finally got to meet Chef Katherine in person, and we hit the ground running. It felt like we knew her for ages because of all our correspondence over the last year and a half. We used the week to take care of any last-minute arrangements that could not be handled from New Jersey. Chef Katherine made sure to have time for us either in person or by phone, in case we had any questions leading up to our special day. On the day of the wedding, Chef Katherine not only brought her A game, but brought the A-team. From her staff to her vendor selection, it couldn't have been a more perfect combination. We opted for a heavy pass of her gourmet pupu's, or as we know them appetizers, instead of a formal sit-down dinner. The pupus that we selected to be served were absolutely delicious. We also opted for a non-traditional cake and went with Chef Katherine's gourmet lilikoi (passionfruit) cheesecake instead, which was to die for. She gave us the option of providing our own alcohol, which we did. This option gave us the opportunity to purchase all our alcohol, minus liquor, from our favorite local Big Island brewery, Ola. The bartender served all the alcohol, including our signature drink, which was a Mai Tai Mojito combination (mai-jito), that everyone loved. Chef Katherine was able to work her magic and make our dream wedding come true! We couldn't be happier with her and her team, Outrageous Gourmet. My husband planned a wonderful dinner for my 40th birthday in Keauhou Bay with my closest friends in a 2-story beach house. My husband and I planned a vacation to the big island of Hawaii to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. I envisioned a Hawaiian ceremony on the beach for our vow renewal, flowers, a photographer, and a gourmet meal cooked at our rented town house. While she is busy, she was always available immediately or within a day of when I called. She was very patient answering any questions or concerns I had. Our 50th anniversary was everything I asked for. The flowers were lovely, the ceremony was wonderful with the conch shell, chanting, and the explanation of Hawaiian traditions. While I haven't seen the pictures yet, the photographer took charge, was patient and when we asked for poses, he was happy to accommodate us. Now, the food was exceptional, 5 stars. We had a family trip at Kona Beach Bungalows in late January 2019. I contacted Katherine about one week before our arrival. She was amazing. She organized a Luau with all the bells and whistles.
