She also provided a card with the size and style of the pearl that was inside and out it into a little safe keeping bag. We also decided to get a jewelry item to put our pearls in. Two of us got it put in a necklace which she nicely assisted with which length to put the pearl casing on. Our other friend got her pearl mounted to an adjustable ring. The woman working was so nice and said she would be able to do it while we walked around and texted us when it was done. She gave great instructions on how to take care of our pearls and gave a nice case for the ring. She made it such a nice experience for us!

Here's what happened: I wanted to commemorate my wonderful memories in Maine by adding one of this store's pearls to my bead bracelet. In the morning, I picked an oyster and found a beautiful purple pearl. However, the boss (Adam) wasn't there, so the staff said he would drill the hole later and asked me to leave my bracelet so he could check the hole size. Trusting them, I handed over my $200 bracelet without asking for any receipt or proof. When I returned in the afternoon, a different staff member greeted me. Instead of sharing in my excitement, she kept pressuring me to pay immediately ($18 for the pearl + $5 for drilling). But Adam hadn't even drilled the pearl yet, and I hadn't received the pearl--why should I pay upfront? I had left them my valuable bracelet, showing full trust, yet they acted like I couldn't be trusted to pay $23. She pushed me four times, which felt extremely petty. When I finally said, "customer experience matters," Adam appeared and threatened that I should just take the pearl elsewhere to get it drilled--knowing full well that would cost me extra time and energy. I wanted that purple pearl so badly that I paid, only to find out afterward that the drilling left three holes and scratches on its surface. When I pointed it out, Adam reluctantly refunded me while complaining, "I don't normally do this." Well, I don't normally get rushed into paying $23 either. To make matters worse, the staff member who kept pressuring me to pay started blaming me, saying I didn't respect her. Honestly, if she hadn't kept pushing, I wouldn't have called her behavior petty in the first place. What should have been a joyful memory with a purple pearl symbolizing happiness turned into a terrible experience of pettiness, unprofessionalism, and disrespect. I walked out of this store crying, shocked at how a business could treat customers this way. Thank you for ruining what should have been a special day.

Due to the nature of how long this particular location has been opened some of the areas can feel very crowded depending on how many people are nearby but understandable with how long they've been open. Like other Sherman locations they have more than just books including puzzles, stuffed animals, Knick-knacks/trinkets, and more. My wife is an avid reader and loves checking out every and any bookstore. I appreciate locating them for her so she can do so! While not as much of an avid reader I do appreciate what appears to be a resurgence of physical books and indie book stores. The staff were extremely friendly and prices were reasonable/on par with other locations. This Sherman's has stood the test of time and has provided locals and tourists a spot for the newest and classic favorites for many generations. Acadia National Park has been on my list of "must visit" parks for years. I've been talking to…read morevarious friends about a trip there for a while. While searching for a last-minute 4-day weekend birthday trip - the timing seemed to work out to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia. I was here from 30 April - 03 May and loved it. Not everything was open, but enough was open that I was able to explore and see most of what I wanted in Acadia (Cadillac mountain opened ON 30 April so, we were able to drive to the top, park and walk around without a permit/pass before season starts in a few weeks. We hiked Beehive, Jordan Pond, Ocean Path, Homan's Trail and a few other short park and walk items. By far, my favorite was Beehive as it's just scary/steep enough to give you a thrill, gorgeous views. I also loved Homan's trail - easy and short, but beautiful rock work. The ranger also told me that one of the women who originally donated a ton of the land for Acadia and wanted to do so anonymously was last name Homan, so this is honor of her. And what a beautiful trail it is! The visitor's center is small but as always, friendly and helpful rangers who helped me prioritize my must-sees and map out the best use of time/driving to get to everything I wanted to do in two short days. Schooner Point lookout is also an easy/quick stop off before entering one of the park entrances - and a beautiful view of the ocean. Bar Harbor is charming and fun and welcoming and at that time in late April/early May - no waits for anything as season is just beginning. Can't wait to come back!

Visiting Acadia National Park was one of the highlights of my summer. The views were breathtaking!…read moreI kept telling myself to stop taking pictures yet two seconds later there wouldbe something else that I just had to get a shot of. In order to go to the summit during peak season, you have to make a reservation at least 48 hours in advance. I did not know this and once I tried, I was not able to get a reservation and thought there was no way that I was going to see the top of Cadillac Mountain. The evening before I left, I drove up to the gate for the summit and spoke with the Park Ranger, and he said that they had openings in the next hour and to go around the corner. Find some bars and register online.i was so excited when I got my confirmation code. Cadillac mountain is the highest point on the U.S. Atlantic coast. Did I mention that I am afraid of heights? I drove the road, gripping the wheel trying not to look over the edge at each hairpin turn. From October through March, it's famously one of the first places in the United States to see the sunrise. While I was there, the sun was rising at 4 AM and for some reason I was wide awake with a piano panoramic view from hotel high up in Bar Harbor. It was well worth the price per pictures that will be frozen in my mind forever.
