Terrible Experience - Will Never Return! I have been a loyal customer at Bliss Nail Salon since July 2024, consistently getting a shellac pedicure and shellac manicure with short square nails. Recently, I switched to dip powder but kept everything else the same, with my total always being $99. However, on January 30, 2025, I had the worst experience ever. After my service, I went to pay and was suddenly told my total was $104. It was only a $5 difference, but I was curious why, since I had received the exact same service as always. The cashier seemed confused at first as she totaled it up--$57 for dip and $42 for the pedicure--which still equaled $99. Then she turned to the nail tech, "Sally," and spoke in their native language before turning back to me and saying the extra $5 was because I got "super super square" nails. I have been getting my nails done for years and have never heard of such a thing. When I questioned it, they told me if I wanted to pay $99, I'd have to sit back down so Sally could round off the edges--essentially punishing me for getting regular square nails. The situation escalated to the point where they threatened to call the police, and when I told them to go ahead, they actually did. As an African American woman, I knew I wouldn't get fair treatment from the Bloomfield Police Department, but I stood my ground and explained my case. Despite showing my previous $99 charges, the police wouldn't listen and wouldn't allow me to leave unless I paid the $104. I wanted to use my American Express to dispute the charge later, but they conveniently don't accept Amex, so I was forced to use another card. After the payment went through, I was about to leave when they suddenly insisted I sign the receipt, which I initially refused. The officers then harassed me, demanding to see the card I used--even though the receipt clearly showed the payment method. After scribbling something on the receipt, I finally walked out, but as I was leaving, an officer knocked on my car window, demanding my name for his report. I refused and drove off. This experience was beyond frustrating--not because of the extra $5, but because of the dishonesty, harassment, and complete lack of respect for a loyal customer. Another person in our party wanted a french manicure, but they said she couldn't do it without shellac , even though she'd done it before, and was quite rude to her. Never once was I told how much the add ons would be during my service. I have acrylic all over my fingers. The nail artist talked to her coworker my entire appointment and the salon was dirty. I had an old paper towel with other customers makeup/ dirt on it to rest my hands on the entire service, never going back. I had my nails done on a Thursday and by Monday the acrylic on one was chipped and the polish on both thumb nails was lifting. I went in that next Wednesday (not expecting anything for free of course) but to get a polish change and a pedicure, even with the negative polish experience. The dirt bag charged me $92. I went in at 9:30 and was out by 10:10. I don't always ask for up front prices, especially when I've been there at least 3X already, but you bet I will from now on. I have been here many many times and somehow someway I always end up with the same terrible technician...I don't know how many employees they have but it has to be well over 20 yet for some reason they always put me with Danny. Who I have never asked for or particularly liked...he offers extremely rushed and subpar service! For someone who spends upwards of $100 each time plus tip, is it too much to ask him to take a little extra time to give some quality service? I mean come on 30-45 minutes in and out? Too many nail shop options to give my money to versus this experience. It definitely felt like a cattle drive. The woman that did my pedi and dip powder had ZERO customer service. I had to ask her her name as she plowed through my service. She never took interest in me to ever look me in the face. My dip powder definitely needed another coat to look like the sample color. Before I could say anything she was on the finishing process. I asked her to put another clear coat on my one big toe because it had no shine. It is true they will nickel & dime you. To apply a shape to the nails, to trim the nails (e.g. during a fill in), there is a charge even if ur getting the same shape u walked in with! The trade off is it is clean, rarely any wait time. My experience here hasn't been perfect nor totally awful so I still go. SCAMMER!!!! Be ware!!!! I walked in no appointment, all I asked was that they remove my dip nails. I expected it to be $5. I came here to get shellac manicure before a vacation which at any other location can last 3 weeks on me. 2 days after I got them done, a nail started chipping off. The next day, 2 more. 6 days later only 5 nails are in tact and by the next day I just removed them all myself. I would expect this for a manicure but not shellac.. I came in to get my normal fill from a different tech since mine is out of town and they told me it would be $20 more just because of one broken nail and the length of my nails. ASK PRICING BEFORE GOING HERE! I am writing this post not because I care about the money and I absolutely do not like posting negative reviews but I do not like when businesses take advantage of their customers. I went in for dip with a French. I showed the girl the pic from Pinterest in which I attached here of exactly what I wanted. I also told her I want my nails to be skinny almond and the same length as the pic. She told me that since my nails are almond shape it would be an extra $10 to add the "curve" of the white paint at the tip of my nails, on top of the extra cost it already is to do the French style. So to be clear, because she is not painting a straight line but adding a curve to it, its an extra $10... it was so ridiculous that I just told her not to do it. I came in with very long almond shaped nails, in which she cut down and reshaped to the same almond shape I already had. She told me that it was an additional $5 for filing and shaping my nails. She then proceeded to charge me an extra $5 for the "length" of my nails. I dont even know what thats supposed to mean but after speaking to 2 other people they said the "extra" length of my nails means they have to use "more material"...I also posted a pic of my nails after she did it and as you can see there is nothing "long" about my nails and is an average length. I have never heard of something more ridiculous... at what point do they measure the nail and decide if it is "too long" where they need to charge an additional $5? I have never ever heard of such a thing in my many years of going to nail salons nor do they have those additional charges listed on their menu in which I posted as well. They take advantage of their customers by making up "services" that are normally included when doing dip. I will never go here again and support a business that will scam nice loyal customers for any penny they could take. Shame on them. Not to mention my nails are not what I asked her to do and instead are WIDE almond shape, not skinny. SO just to do the style nail that was in the pic I showed her, she wanted to charge me almost $80 without tip!!! I am hoping they see this post and do the ethical thing. I have talked to a couple of friends to see if they had the same experience and they also have stopped going to both Bliss locations because of this and the unwelcoming feeling they give off. UPDATE: Since I cannot respond to the owners reply to my review, I am doing it here: I was not told of these silly up charges until after she cut and filed my nails. Moreover, look at my nails, it is a BASIC dip manicure. There is no reason why your business should feel comfortable charging me an extra $5 for what you call long length. My length as seen in the picture is average! That's not being fair as you say. And no I have been to plenty of salons around town and I have never been charged for such ridiculous services that normally come along with any type of manicure/dip. You are trying to find ways to make extra money and have asked around to find out if this is normal but everyone I ask is just as appalled as I am and you will not convince anyone otherwise. I understand the holidays are busy but what's the point of making an appointment when I have to wait 45 minutes alongside customers without an appointment. After 45 minutes of my toes soaking in ice cold water, I finally asked when I'd be seen only to be interrupted when I was speaking and the worker put his hand up to cut me off and said wait 5 more minutes. If I could give it zero stars I would. They do a mediocre job, if that. There's maybe 5/20 nail techs who actually know what they're doing. I got french and it looked absolutely horrible so I went back the following day for a polish change. The man who did them the second time also agreed that they were poorly done. I called and asked how much it would be after explaining that I was there the day prior and was told $22. Then I go to check out and they say $32. The only pro of going here is there's never a wait because there's an abundance of techs. But you should save yourself the stress and just go somewhere else. I've been trying new places for my nails for a few months and kept leaving unhappy. I FINALLY found my go-to here! Not only is it SUPER clean, but they have a ton of seating for both manicures and pedicures and a HUGE color selection for shellac, dip, and regular polish. I got dip with tips and shellac color and the dipping powder is poured into disposable cups & excess is discarded, which is the only way to really have nail dip done cleanly. They came out better than I had hoped and done with such care and detail. This salon is 25 minutes out of my way and I'll go every time! read more

First time to this location as I always went to the Bliss on Long Lake. I won't be back. First of all it was 88 degrees outside & they had no air conditioning. Second the nail tech filled up the pedicure bowl too full & once I put me feet it the water went everywhere even on my shoes. Next was my manicure where she rushed through it then went to work on another customer while I sat for ten minutes. I got the dip manicure. I asked if she had the same color as I chose for my toes. Don't pay attention to the bad reviews! This salon is extremely clean and the staff is always attentive to you. There may be times where you are waiting a little bit, but that's simply because they are busy. I have never been ignored in this salon, ever.
