Had a memorable and great time in this shop. I am from South Florida and was spending some time in Houston. There were several shops in the vicinity but this one stood out. I've never been to a place where I wanted at least one of everything. The best part was how nicely wrapped each item was as part of the service when checking out. The store clerk took great care to show the value. The gentleman running the shop was a pleasure. I truly enjoyed the experience. Even gave a chocolate Hersheys kiss in a small bag along with the stores business card. This is customer service at its finest. I would want my operation running as nicely as this beautiful shop. Truly unique items with a variety of sections. Great for gifts.....and splurging on some self items. I saved the receipt purposely to write a review. It took me some time as I visited in September but have thought of the place over a dozen times since visiting. I do not write reviews often but this place deserves a hands down praise. There are very few places I go that every time I walk in the door I find something new and always a perfect, well rounded selection of gift items, home decor, seasonal items and SO much more. Bliss on 19th is absolutely one of my favorite stores to visit, even when I don't need anything I can stop in and just window shop all of the hand picked items perfectly displayed. And, they have a great selection of cards for all occasions so you aren't stuck with one of those last minute drugstore cards. If you need a birthday present, housewarming, new baby or just because item...this is your store. The choice of items and selection can fit any budget. Dan, the owner, makes you feel at home from the minute you walk in the door, until the "kiss" you receive when you leave the store with your purchase. Beautiful store, with a wide variety of home decor, gifts for all occasions and fun tidbits. I found presents for my brother and girlfriend in no time. I especially loved the greeting card section, everything from luxury to hilarious- all were very unique. The bonus, super friendly staff that love to help. My daughter & I walked into Bliss yesterday to do some shopping. We had our masks on as the store requires. Mine was a MAGA mask & my daughter (a registered nurse) wore her mask which says "This is tyranny". We barely got thru the front door when a worker (wearing TWO masks, lol) tripped over a piece of furniture in his eagerness to attack us & kick us out of the store. One day I will own a home. And when I do, I will actually invest money into decorations. But until then, our diplomas will stay in their tubes, our prints will remain unframed, and all other decoration will be put on hold for the day that I can come and shop at Bliss for my entire home. It really is that great. I love useless decorative items (well, except for vases. . .I have a whole soapbox about people giving vases at weddings. . .don't get me started). Bliss has oversized funky salad tongs. They have plenty of candle holders and picture frames. They have lamps and cool wine stoppers. They have gorgeous platters. And they also have a random amount of animal decor. There was a lot to look at, but the store was well laid out so you weren't bumping into people to look at things. The employees were friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. The prices weren't outrageous, but these weren't priceless heirlooms either. This is definitely worth checking out and I got great ideas for future gifts. read more

Yep, this is my new go-to gift shop. The selection here is great and the prices are really all over the place (in a good way - I could buy a reasonable gift for a friend or splurge on myself). Great mix of decor, candles, absolutely unique things, so on. The guy there was really nice and I love my purchases. Definitely check out the Houston-themed photography items - everything from cutting boards to trivets and coasters with photos of the "I love Houston" sign, Harold's, Heights, River Oaks Theatre, and so on. That's the kind of stuff that sets this place apart from the similar shops you might find in the Woodlands or something. But really, the selection is so amazing that there is pretty much something for everyone here. read more

This shop is the cutest. I was just here for the second time on a drizzley day, and this was a cozy perfect place to browse. Ditto the previous review about houston photography items. We got 3 houston themed coasters (including a torchy's taco one!) and an awesome photography coffee table book. The owner was really nice and wrapped up all our stuff with tissue paper and decorative bow. Also threw in 2 Hershey's kisses. Is that not a cute touch or what! So many cute gifts and classy home decor. Check out the card area too. Ugh I just want to buy literally everything in this store! read more

I stopped in Bliss earlier today. A wonderful experience. Beautiful items, decorations and gifts, I only purchased some candles, but will be going back to get more stuff. Do I need it? No. I just have to figure out where to put it, and go back and buy more stuff in that store. Again, a wonderful experience. Brightened my whole day. This is a great little shop. The store is pretty and very well organized. I bought a gift for my friend here. I found a cute book, a gorgeous lavender scented eye pillow and a card. I would never purchase from this place. I was in line for a DollsKill shoe tour event and this owner comes out and yells at us to not stand in front of his door. The ironic thing is we already had been policing ourselves to not stand in front of any of the stores entries. He comes out again while I am standing at least a foot to the side of his door and tells me to move out the way of his door. I said I am not in your doorway. He said he was trying to run a business. Mind you it's 11 am, in the heights, on a Thursday and hardly anyone even walking the sidewalks. Therefore I doubt we were impeding the flow of his business. So he calls the police to get the event shut down for no reason except he didn't like us there, minding our own business and having a good time. The police let the event continue but eventually asked it to be moved to another location. SMH! Meanwhile the record store next to it was so kind and didn't even mind us stepping in for an AC break. I am sure there are better ways to use our law enforcements time. Do better and support other local events Bliss! read more

I can't say enough great things about Bliss on 19th! They are my go-to for any occasion, including birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, just about anything. I love their great selection of cards, including my favorite, Papyrus. It's nice to have a neighborhood store with such great items and also such a friendly staff. The owner is always helpful and the gift wrapping is awesome. Whenever I show up to a party, people are always excited to see the purple bag. They also do wedding registries which makes me kick myself for not knowing that before I got married. read more
