The street parking nearby is free, and there are bike racks for anyone that needs them. The neighbors in that area were always very kind to me, but it's also important to be aware of their families and privacy. It's not a place for large group gatherings or non-residents to host events. There are water fountains, waste disposal, and lots of seating, but there are not picnic tables or public restrooms. It's a beautiful park and I always make it a stop on my walks!

There's lots of seating -- benches, picnic tables -- tons of open grass fields, and a newish pavilion that is available for rental. There are ball fields, soccer fields, a basketball court, a larger playground, a covered band shell, and even a disc golf game! Access is a little funky. The park has two sections separated by a wall of trees. The main entrance off of School Street will bring you to the older section of the park with a ballfield, the soccer fields, the bigger of the two playground areas, the basketball courts, and the disc golf. The other side of the park (the newer side, with the splash pad, acres of open fields, volleyball courts, band shell, new pavilion) can be accessed either via a nice path from the School Street parking lot, or from an entirely separate entrance off of Corey Street on the opposite side of the park. The Corey Street entrance is off the beaten path in a neighborhood and it will bring you to a parking lot next to the new pavilion. This is usually where we park to go to the splash pad area. If you're attending something at the band shell, even though the shell is on the new side of the park it is actually closer to the School Street lot so I would go in via School Street and save yourself a walk across the Corey St. fields.

Right on a main road through east longmeadow, close to shopping, restaurants, and the library. They've got a baseball field, plenty of space to run, a large covered picnic site for events, and other picnic tables scattered around the park. They are, however, best known for their beautiful geese who reside there. Now you're not supposed to feed them bread, but who listens to that? The geese come right up to you (if you're feeding them) but be careful- some may nip if you put your hand in too far! The playground is fairly new and one of the best ones around. They've got swings, a rock wall, and a bunch of other structures. The kids never fail to have a great time. There's a super cute gazebo there and even a pretty clean portapotty. Here isn't seating at the courts, but parents make do with the stage. There are restrooms down the hall, if you happen to be looking. I'm not exactly sure if the building is unlocked most of the time or not. But after you're done with basketball, you can take the kids over to the playground or swimming at the pool ( in the summer that is).

We weren't exactly sure where we were to meet in the park, not being from the area so we naively thought we'd park and walk to avoid the traffic and the admission. Upon walking in we realized quickly how difficult that would be. This park is massive at almost 800 acres and has sooo much. It includes (but probably isn't limited to) - a baseball field, dog park, grills for picnics and bbqing, streams, historic houses, nature, biking, playgrounds and more. There are even hiking trails and paddle boats, though I didn't see them. The price to enter the park is $3 and $5 for out of state but because we were attending a memorial the lady was nice only charged us the $3. You could easily spend all day here on a nice day. The one thing about this park that was a problem is getting in. The front entrance line backs up quickly and it spills out into the street. The street is like 4 lanes with steady traffic, so if you're coming from the other direction making a left over the 2 lanes it gets a bit crazy. I'd think a traffic person or park personnel would help guide the traffic a bit. A better question is why isn't the back gate open? That might lessen the traffic. Beyond that though, it's nice big park with just about everything it seems, and for an OK deal.

Looks like HVAC companies taking over the parking lot for work, one dude working out of his van was shirtless with full bear belly on display. I felt uncomfortable & left quickly. There's no park bench or anything like that along the river. The West entrance is the worst, smallest lot only fits 3 cars, long walking path to the river that's super narrow, some times only a foot wide & feels creepy, I'd avoid. The east entrance is very roomy, easily park 10 cars there with walking path 12 feet wide. However, it's very far to the river, at least half a mile walk. The 4th entrance is on Bayleys, I couldn't even find the parking lot, lol, nothing there.

One follows along the river, one crosses the river into the woods, and the third goes up a small hill. Absolutely gorgeous, magical day, the kind that makes one thankful for the opportunity to enjoy…read morenature...sunny, mid 60's, low humidity, gentle breeze. Blue heron right after you enter from the south terminus. Lots of turtles basking. Eagles (adult and 2 juvies) visible in their nest, with another adult high above about 50 yds north. Another uge (we don't pronounce the "h" where I'm from) blue heron about 7/10ths of a mile from the start. Ducks, geese, hawk. Haven't seen a rabbit yet this year. My theory is that overcutting on the bank of the canal-side has caused rabbits to change their habits (seriously). No place to hide from predators. Everyone friendly...strollers, fishermen, bicyclists.... I tried to make a video of the song, "I was strolling thru the park one day, in the very merry month of May...". Lucky for the reader / listener that my phone was having memory issues. Always a 5 star!
