Prices are significantly lower for members when making purchases behind the counter; such as snacks, soda, energy drinks, coffee, and even cigarettes. The Imperial Alano Club is a safe place for addicts and alcoholics in recovery to hang out in between meetings that are also held on the property. The clubroom has a pool table, video games, a pinball machine, and often people play dominos and cards. Come hang out!

I'm torn here. It's…read morea lovely venue, especially when you consider that it used to be a synagogue. It feels like so many smallish places of worship I've visited over the years. That's because of the simple yet tasteful stained glass and the elegant woodwork all around. I like the fact that they've removed most of the pews. It actually feels more like an old-fashioned church auditorium than a church (or synagogue) itself, and that increases the nostalgia factor, which is a four-star guarantee in my book. But the floor. Yes, the floor is slanted at a pretty steep angle. It doesn't seem steep when you're walking on it, but try standing on that angle for a couple of hours or so, and you'll really start to feel it in your calves and even in your equilibrium. I really do like this slanted-floor feature, but without true seats, the mandatory-standing can be too much. I saw Bedouine and Marina Allen here. I took my mom. (My dad was supposed to come too, but he had COVID at the time.) The show was fantastic, and the intimacy of the space really does make this feel like it should be a five-star review. But that lack of seats means that it's all general-admission standing, which for short people like me and especially my mom means we can't always see what's going on, because the stage isn't too high. We did arrive early enough that we could snag one of the few pews remaining, along one of the side walls. When my mom got tired of standing, she could sit nearby, but there aren't very many pews, and Bedouine draws a very mellow crowd, so for more high-energy and/or aggressive acts, I could see that standing this close to the front could be more annoying, if not more dangerous. It is a gorgeous setting--four stars. Parking in the neighborhood isn't a breeze, but it's easier than it looks. And yes, it's a poor area, but it's not that scary. I know because I went to high school in this neighborhood in the 1990s, when street crime and gang violence were much bigger issues than they are today. Don't leave anything visible in your car, don't walk far by yourself when it's dark, and be aware of your surroundings. Typical city advice.

This review is for the stellar service we have received so far. We knew we didn't want the regular party entertainment - a clown, balloon guy, or face painter ..we wanted something that everyone could do, so we thought of a drum circle/facilitators. I called several people and Debbie was right on it. She returned my call the same exact day and sent me all the information immediately after our phone conversation. She is so attentive and reliable. Also, their website is fantastic - very informative, FAQ, pictures reviews, etc. We happened to meet One World Rhythm at the Kidz Expo in Pasadena. They were super friendly with us and our daughter. They had a great variety of percussion instruments and my daughter didn't want to leave their booth! I'll write more after the party! In the meantime, if you're looking for unique party entertainment that will get your guests (of all ages) moving and having fun, don't look any further! *************************************************************************** Post-party review: Debbie and Pete were very, very professional and dedicated - arrived early and stayed late. They brought tons of percussion instruments and props. They also were easy to work with - phone and e-mail communication throughout the planning stages. Minus 1 star for the volume of the performance. It was extremely loud and the audience was mostly toddlers and some infants. I saw several of my guests leave the performance and go outside to get a reprieve from the noise. Later, some adults complained to me about the noise level. In the future, I would recommend that Debbie and Pete ask the host(s) for feedback throughout the show and be more attentive to guests' comfort (i.e, pay attention if participants are covering their ears and/or leaving the room), and make adjustments. Note: Our party venue was a park recreation room with tile and glass which may have made the acoustics difficult to adjust. Again, in the future, I would recommend lowering the volume so that we could enjoy more of the instruments and activities.

The LA Garden Club is part of a larger network of clubs under the umbrella of the California Garden Clubs. The consist of local clubs from the San Francisco Bay Area all the way down to San Diego. I joined the LA Chapter about a year ago. Most of the members consist of little old ladies, so if you are in your 20's or 30's, you will probably stick out. But that's okay because the other members will treat you well. In the LA Club monthly meetings, they always offer baked goods and treats for just $1 donation. The meetings usually consist of a featured guest speaker, followed by a plant/flower display and possibly some plants for sales. Many of the members will also bring cuttings from their garden and offer them for free for others to propagate. The club will also organize events like a visit to the Getty Villa in April, or a tour of local gardens during late spring time/early summer.
