The blo out bar was bright, clean and nice. However I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Samira. I felt rushed throughout the entire appointment, and my hair did not turn out as I had requested. I had a maternity photoshoot and specifically asked for a certain style, even showing pictures to the hairstylist. She assured me that she could do it, but the final result was nothing like what I asked for. I even requested a change to how she styled my bangs, and how flat my hair looked but she refused and continued to rush through the process. I ended up waiting 10 extra minutes for my appointment and finished 5 minutes early. This was a huge letdown, especially since my hair was such an important part of my maternity photoshoot--a once-in-a-lifetime memory. I am incredibly unhappy with the outcome. My top it off : I asked for a soft, curly look, but unfortunately, the result was nothing like what I envisioned. My hair ended up extremely messy and tangled, and it didn't have any flow. The curls were all over the place, when they should have been styled to flow away from my face. It was a total disaster, and I'm really disappointed with the service. I found myself lowkey stressing when I was visiting in Toronto a few months ago because my blow out from San Diego didn't last as long as I hoped so I went on yelp and I found this place. I was a little nervous, I don't have the easiest of hair to work on and I had just dyed it too. I found the place very easily and it was a cute little small salon. I was greeted right away and I waited maybe 5-6minutes before they began washing my hair. I really wish I remembered the girls name because she was amazing. She was Russian I believe, hope she still works there when I come back this summer... lol But she made my experience so great. She didn't complain about the length/thickness of my hair. She listened to how I wanted my hair parted and styled. She was nice. What more could you ask for? I was so happy leaving and my hair lasted 5 days! Can't wait to come back one day!! :) read more

Had a great experience here. I got loose curls and they looked great that night. The next day my hair was pretty much flat (not sure if it was because of the humidity - not from the area) Hair got greasy the the next day too (again, I don't know if it has to do with the weather). When I've gotten my hair blown out in the past, I don't have to wash my hair for quite awhile. Not sure if the shampoo and conditioner used makes the hair more prone to getting greasy. read more

I've been to other locations of Blo Blow Dry and that has never happened before. They did offer to redo it the next day but couldn't work with my schedule. I booked well in advance for a Saturday afternoon appointment and I'm glad I did as when I was there it was jam packed which made me feel good about my decision to go as the Yelp reviews were mixed. A place that busy must have something good going for it. As others have mentioned yes this place is small but it didn't bother me as it's not like a regular salon that you can spend 2-3 hours in - this place you're in and out in 45 for a wash and blow dry. I found the staff to be generally friendly. I've been to other salons that were warmer and offer you coffee or water and will hang up your jacket for you but as mentioned this is just a place to get in and out quickly. I think the lady who did my hair was Anna and in the end I was extremely pleased with how my hair turned out. I was nervous at first because she was drying my hair a different way than my usual hairdresser does but all that mattered was the end result and it looked excellent. Overall I was happy and I would definitely go back if I needed my hair done for a special occasion. With tax and tip it was close to $50 which is a bit pricey. For that price I'd like a bit more service like someone offering to hang my jacket and bring me a water. But maybe since they were so busy they were off their game. I've never had an issue at this salon. Every stylist I've ever had here does a good job. My hair is super thick and curly and sometimes I just can't be bothered to spend an hour and a half drying it. I'm usually out of Blo after 45 minutes. Yes, it's small but it works. Is it a tad pricey, yes it is but it's also in one of the most expensive malls in the Province so rent is high. It's worth every penny. My only comment is that I wish we could purchase blo tabs online! read more

There were spots in my hair that weren't even blow dried, and the worst thing about the entire experience is the fact that the place smells of cheap perfumes that make you gag. Good place to get a quick blo out! The girls there are super nice and really quick! (Which is good for me because I have long, super thick hair and nothing is ever quick). But these girls do a great job! My only complaints: small space, actually TINY space. They're outside the actual mall too which is inconvenient but the girls manage pretty well in the space they have. Luckily when you're getting your hair done its very quick. The space is waaayy to small and gets hot quickly but you don't have to hang out there to long. Also the prices are a bit high for the services. The service is a pretty basic service and I'd be more inclined to tip more if the prices were lowered slightly. They are always busy which really sucks too. The space really limits how many staff they can have so I get that, but it would be more convenient if they could find a way to accommodate their high volume of clients. And I don't know what people are talking about when they say they are 'rushed' in here. All my appointments or walk-ins at this place have been end-of-day and I've never felt rushed to get out of there. Especially with my massive head of hair that I already presume takes much longer to dry than the average. Isn't the whole point of this service to be quick?? If you want to sit and socialize and have this lengthy salon experience, this is not the place for you. Its a quick in and out, the staff is polite and chatty but focussed on getting their job done. Really disappointed. I was using this appointment as a trial for my sisters wedding and I'm glad I did that. I picked a style from their Instagram and they looked at me like I had 3 heads saying they can't do that and I have to pick from the basic menu. The appointment ran 30 min late and all the staff including the owner were gossiping about one of the staff members. It felt awkward the whole time I was there! Small space only accessible from outside of Bayview village. No greeting when you come through the door, but that's probably cause it's a busy joint. The girl who did my hair, other than asking me what I wanted done to my hair, did not say a word to me. I asked for a waves, which turned out more like curls which I finger combed out when I got home. Was decent enough for the price I suppose. I have to admit though - I'm not sure if they put any heat protectant in your hair before blow drying or styling but my hair was extremely dry after the fact. I had to go to my hair dresser just to get a cut and refresh after this ordeal. Would I go here again - maybe a different location. It's a nice concept but their customer service needs some work, a bigger space would be nice and some more or better heat protectant for your hair considering they are a blo bar. read more

Decided to come here even though the reviews on Yelp were so bad I thought "they r so busy so it must not be the bad"... but I was wrong... so so soooo wrong I'll never doubt you again yelp I made an appt on Saturday, got there a bit early and it wasn't too busy (probably because it was raining) I showed the girl a picture of what I wanted and she said "sure" and she would do it with the brushes.... so far, so good she washes my hair... also fine *i did find it a bit weird that the place is SO small there's no where to wait or hang your jacket but that's ok So i sit in the chair and the girl now tells me she's gonna use a curly iron since my hair is so "fine"... I was ok with that thinking she'd blow dry it with some wave and then use the curling iron to enhance.... while she's drying my hair, all the girls are just gossiping.. about the owner, about other clients, about employees, etc While she's drying my hair, I also mention "oh i like what that girl has or that girl" since there were 2 others in the "salon" that were getting something similar to what i wanted. She ends up just drying my hair and curling it... which I could easily do at home I was expecting something more ... I've had my hair blow dried before.. it holds the style well and it's definitely not "too fine" TBH it seems like she wanted to finish up because they were closing soon. I didn't really see the finished style while I was there because she told me she didn't want to "seperate the curls" so it stays better for when I get home ... but I wasn't expecting it to look just curled.. especially since that's not the picture I showed her By the time I got home and started getting dressed (probably no more than 15-30 minutes after), I loosen the curls and realize the right side of my hair is totally flat like BARELY a wave (and I have naturally wavy hair) I tried to re curl but it kept falling flat because of the product already in it Needless to say, it looked ridiculous So i had the pleasure of paying $45 (including tax, tip) for someone to dry my hair with a blowdryer and curl it and then have the curl not even stay in my hair Really disappointed as the place is super close to where I live and i was looking forward to coming by regularly One note - one of the girls, Kristen (I think), was doing someone else's hair and it looked very nice - she did a good blow dry, added some curls, and seemed to be more interested in her customer than chatting with the other employees. I frequently visit blo on bayview and have had nothing but positive experiences . One of my first times visiting blo, I had my hair done by Mike. My hair is long and curly and unruly, and Mike was able to tame my tresses beautifully. I was instantly hooked and have been coming back ever since because of him. Other notable stylists who will have your hair styled to perfection are: Daniela, Christina, Kristen and Preeti. I've become a huge fan of the products they use, especially the 'purple' shampoo which is great if your highlights are getting brassy. I've often been asked if had my hair recoloured after coming out of Blo because the shampoo they use gives great shine and vibrancy to the colour. The team at Blo is dedicated to giving fast and great service. I'm always amazed at how little time it takes for them to do my hair. The staff is very friendly. She needed her hair done for a wedding. 9 am appointment, told the beginner stylist she had to be out 9:45 for the 11 am service and they reassured 45 mins was plenty of time. At 9:30, she volunteered a time check as more than half her was still left. Was reassured she'd be done in 15 mins. At 9:35, asked again and the stylist brought another colleague who was only able to do three sections before her own client came. Once finished, the admin processing payment expected a tip. The hair style she asked for wasn't what she got. Very disappointed in the lack of professionalism here especially considering my sister forewarned them about the time restriction. The staff is kind, accommodating, and does exactly what I ask them to with my hair - including helping me figure out what looks best with my overall outfit and style. I am loyal to Preeti, who is so quick, funny, and skilled at her job - but honestly, I felt like everyone at the salon was involved in putting my look together. I arrived a little late for my appointment because my makeup artist ran late and I got ZERO hassles or worries about it from the Blo staff (not to say that it's okay to be late at a busy salon, but its so nice to go somewhere where customer service is a top top priority). I have been visiting Blo on a regular basis (usually once a week or so) since they first opened, and it is always the highlight of my day! Not only are all the staff professional and great at styling hair, but they are also super friendly and outgoing. I have thick, long, curly hair, so at my old hairdresser it would always take forever (over an hour) to get it straightened. At Blo, however, each of the girls there (and Mike!) always manage to get my hair pin straight in 30-40 minutes. I honestly couldn't believe how straight my hair turned out after my first time going, and I have been going back weekly ever since. I have brought a lot of my family and friends to Blo and I have never heard anyone I know say one bad thing about it. I have been to another blo location ONCE before, but the staff were not nearly as fun and hilarious as they are at the Bayview location. It feels great to spend time in such a pleasurable environment, where all of the staff genuinely seem like they love what they do. I highly recommend trying out Blo if you haven't already because you will love the results and the impeccable service! I have had incredible experiences with Daniella, Mike, Kearsten and Britt, even though I am sure that everyone there is equally as talented. Can't wait to go back again! read more
