Crystal the stylist is amazing ! Advice is to get there early, finding parking can be tricky there

First time here and pretty disappointed with the experience. First impressions - Walked inside and it was dingier than I was expecting. There are only a couple small mirrors, and the chairs don't face them so you can't see how your hair is coming out as it's being dried, which is problematic if it's not turning out as expected. I've been to many other blow dry bars in Hoboken and this is the first one that when I walked in, I wasn't offered anything to drink. All other places offer champagne, water, coffee, etc, but not here. My hair itself didn't come out as I was expecting. It was not curly and voluminous as I specified but more just a bit wavy towards the bottom. If I wasn't running late for a wedding I would have put up more of an argument that it didn't come out as I liked, but I did have her fix this weird poof towards the back of my scalp. By the time I got home 15 minutes later, my hair had completely fallen and you would have never known I just got it blown out. Was not worth the money. For the same price as other blow-dry bars, I'd recommend going to a different place in Hoboken for a blow-out. read more

"Wow" is all I have to say about my blow out today with Susanna. My hair looks incredible!! Every time I get blow outs I find that my roots are left frizzy and sort of curly, but not this time. This place was awesome! My friend and I came in here before our holiday party and it was a great decision. I forget the name of my stylist but she was so friendly and nice with giving suggestions in what to do with my hair. She did an amazing job with the loose beach curl look and it looked fabulous! I have very thick and curly hair and they did wonders! I would definitely recommend coming here! On a side note they offered us an array of drinks and had great customer service. They were very efficient and fast with the service experience as well and did not make me feel rushed at all! Awesome find! read more

It's a hit or miss here. I've had a great blow out once before but my last two trips I didn't really get what I asked for. Once, my hair was only dried about 3/4ths of the way and then curled with an iron- my hair tends to be frizzy so a sleek full dry then curl helps my hair to stay better- by just a couple hours later my hair was a frizzy mess. With all the blow dry bars around, not sue if I would make this one my first choice. read more

Living in Hoboken with thick, curly, long hair I have tried every blowout spot (many have come and gone) and could not be happier with Blo-It-Out. When I moved uptown I was given a package as a gift for 3 blowouts. I have always been able to get an appointment online (call if needed last minute and they usually can fit something in). The hours are fantastic if I need a quick blowout before work / traveling or if I end up working late and don't have time to tame my mane before I have to run out. They are kind, and warm but most importantly listen to what you want and deliver a consistent result every time regardless of who does the blow out. read more

I live a few blocks away from Blo It Out and was always curious to try it out. Then my wedding rehearsal dinner came and I figured why not try it out. I'm sooooo glad I did! I usually always do my own hair bc it's pretty easy to style but ... Ashley pulled through for me! She accomplished something I couldn't do for myself. As someone who is very picky about who I let style or cut my hair, I am very happy with Blo It Out Lounge. I usually see Desiree, if she is available, and she is consistently great. She takes her time and makes sure the blow out is perfect and to your liking. I have also seen Ellie, whom I have been happy with. I feel the prices are very fair. The atmosphere is very fun and comfortable and everyone is friendly. I would recommend and I have purchased several packages with them because of the great job they do. read more

If you hate your hair and want to leave your Bridal Hair & Makeup trial without a stitch of makeup on your face..THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!!! I made an appointment for a Bridal Hair and Makeup trial and gave 3 pics as inspiration. Each had the same loose, low, side swept look. There are no mirrors but when I felt BRAIDING being done after 2 hours without seeing the result I became extra concerned and asked for a hand mirror. I saw a slicked back do' with braids by my ears. I swear I almost threw up the cheap champagne they were serving. The hair stylist was sweet but bashed her co-workers the whole time and I'm like..girl...no offense but this is my Bridal trial..I'm not interested in hearing this stress...also..they're literally right next to you. After the two hours, It was a fiasco and another sweet lady came over..took the curling iron from the other girl and whispered in my ear that she would try to help. She did her best but my hair was so hair sprayed at that point it just looked gross. Seconds later I was told my time was up and they still wanted me to pay the full Bridal fee ..over $200! I honestly thought it was a joke. I still had an insane hair style and no one even put makeup on me yet! Literally not a brush to face. I was going to my friends wedding which was why i booked my trial for that day so at least i had somewhere nice to go to getting all glammed up. The 2 managers (and sisters) fought with me over price and then with each other going back and forth angry at each other...Then told me they'd charge me for just an updo but then i questioned that price and said "Isn't that the wash, blow out and updo price?" They fought more while i stood back then I told them this was the most unprofessional experience of my life and I'd never have my bridal party work with you." She goes .."THE FEELING IS MUTUAL." Literally a lunatic. Cut to - The next day I'm at City Bistro and a rando girl comes up to me in the bathroom..asks me if I was at Blow IT Out the day before and then told me she was telling all her friends about my experience and couldn't believe how psychotic the managers were to me. This was my first time getting a blowout and I showed a photo of what I wanted. I didn't get quite that. The girl that did the blowout was very nice but it looked unfinished when done. And it was done in 30 min (typically they allocate 45 min). I had tons of flyaway hair and ended up having to flatiron my hair before I went to my event :( Maybe it was the way I explained what I wanted but I don't think I should've had that many "flyaways". My hair looked half done to me. I'll have to try another blow out bar. Just dissappointed was hoping for a great blowout! read more

I was quite appalled by how the owner treated the customers and staff. It is one thing to treat your customers poorly, but it is another to also treat your staff like they are below you. Don't get attached to this place - I don't expect them to be in business long. Here is how our experience went. My friend and I booked a 5:00 PM appointment for hair and make up. Even though we had appointments, they didn't start us until 5:30 and we were not done until after 7:30. Walk-ins were seen before us and they sat us on opposite sides of the salon. We had planned on catching up and chatting during our appointment - so this completely defeated the purpose of booking together. They have a $70 blowout/make up deal. My hair was clean - so they said it would be $25 to style it. Which is cheaper than the blowout price. Great, right? Not so much. They told me that the $70 was a discount deal and because I didn't need my hair washed I would have to pay $5 more for the style and make up, i.e. $75 instead of the $70 deal. Me: Well then can't you just pretend you washed my hair? Owner: No. Me: So you are doing less work and using less products on my hair, but I have to pay $5 more? Owner: It's on the menu. Me: You aren't seeing the ridiculousness in this? It didn't seem worth my time to continue this argument, so I paid the extra and decided to write a Yelp review about my experience. I'm shocked this place has such a high rating on here! I know numerous people have had similar experiences with the owner as me, so those $5 are completely worth it if this saves others some frustration! DON'T GO HERE. As mentioned above, we had appointments and were not walk-ins. So it was quite surprising that they were not equipped to handle our make up at the same time. There was a huge delay in trying to figure out if 4 people could actually fit in their tiny make up room. They finally squeezed us all in - but it was not at all comfortable. This added to the already late start (which was stressing me out because I was hoping to be done by 7). My make up artist was trying really hard to speed things up and finish, but the owner kept harassing her. Sidney was very professional and kept saying, "I am almost finished - just give me a few minutes." But the owner didn't seem to care. She just kept saying "Sidney, I NEED you." She was rude, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. I actually really liked my hair and make up and was tempted to give a higher rating - but based on the owner's lack of professionalism, I just can't. However, Sidney is great and if you must go here as a last resort - definitely try to get her. But only if you HAVE to go there because your hair depends on it. ;-) If not, try any of the numerous other places in Hoboken. I hope Sidney finds a better place to utilize her talents! Oh and they don't take AmEx and you can't leave a tip on your credit card. Two things that should be listed on their website and told to you when you book your appointment but are not. read more

My tip would be to know EXACTLY what you want or else you'll get a side eye from the stylist, guess leading the customer wasn't institutionalize here? I don't like attitude when I'm paying for a service. Somewhat entertaining and silly staff. Not a good experience at all. I called and said I would be 10 min late and they said it's fine. I show up 12 min late and the stylist has to hurry because there is another appointment after me. They rush my wash and blow dry, not even asking how I want my hair or offering a drink. They literally just blew it straight, something I can do.. No styling after. And there was no one waiting to get their hair done after me!! They tried to push me to buy a package.. Instead I went home and immediately cancelled my next appointment. I then went to another salon near by to get some damn curls put in my hair. Never going back here again. read more

This place is really cute and trendy, and people there are nice except that my last experience was the worst. I usually go with Matt or another girl I don't know her name until last week I was so unfortunate to have my hair done with the one with glasses and blond hair. I had already washed my hair, which I have a lot of, and which magically was blow dried by that girl in 10 min. I asked for a straight style and a flip at the ends, and the way she handled my hair showed she wasn't good at what she was doing. She was probably used to those who have 4 hairs on their heads. Anyway, I told her to use the brush to have curls cause I didn't like how it turned out to be. She said: Now you want a brush? Okay! My bangs were messy so I asked to use the straightener until she huffed and puffed. I then flipped out! She claimed I didn't explain what I wanted clearly. I don't know how "straight with flips" can be any hard to get unless you're studying rocket science. She blamed me that my hair was half dry although she can always use the water spray to wet it, but of course when one's wrong and starts blaming others for their own mistake, they're total losers. I left the salon with wet roots and fuzzy ends, and she insisted on using some products of course to cover her lousy job, which I said no to. I go to a salon to make my hair look nice not to have a bad hair day. That girl managed to ruin my hair with passion. What's worst is that the lady who checked me out, although was nice and apologetic, still charged me for a messy hair well done and said she would put a note not to have this girl do my hair ever. Well honey, I won't have my hair done at your salon like ever. Please do yourself a favor and fire that artsy fartsy loser, who's well-known among her colleagues as "la charlatana" read more

The stylist spent a good amount of time on my hair. I asked for BIG volume. When I looked up after 45 minutes of tugging at my hair, the result was underwhelming. There was hardly any volume on top and it got even flatter in the next 15 minutes. It seems like they should have put more product in it before styling it. Had an absolutely amazing blowout!! Went in on a Friday afternoon because I wasn't feeling well and really needed to look nice for my brother's engagement party. I typically hatee getting my hair blown out but they did an AMAZING job- I left feeling absolutely beautiful (despite my horrible nausea!) and everyone at the party complimented me on my hair.
