We rented the Billy Frank Jr. conference room and another room on the second floor, and we were able to customize the space to fit our needs. The space we rented comfortably fit around 60 people. Eco Trust has everything you could need and more. Po'Sines is near, there is a Hot Lips Pizza downstairs, and I would highly recommend this space for your next event.

One of my favorite secrets about this building is that it has a beautiful outside terrace overlooking the city. The rooftop space is open to the public during business hours, which makes for a fun lunchtime getaway. There are chairs and tables available, so the space can fill up quickly on a sunny day. There is no need to purchase food from one of the purveyors to utilize the rooftop space, so go ahead and brown bag-it and head up the stairs to enjoy the backdrop of our beautiful city.

The salad was fresh, not wilted, and came with a light vinaigrette. The eggs benedict was absolutely stellar-- perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise, and grilled halloumi to give some well-received brine to the bite, all atop an english muffin. For the price point and the quality, the portions are good. My one wish was that I could have subbed my salad for some of their potatoes! My partner got the pork belly hash, and thought that the potatoes were cooked perfectly-- crispy and well-seasoned. He did notice that there were only a few pieces of pork in the dish, but we chalked this up to the ingredient quality. We ended up staying for Happy Hour, which was fun! We got the fries with garlic aioli (so good!) and I ordered their daily cocktail special, a margarita. They gave me a good, heavy, pour, which is always appreciated. I've seen other reviews both here and on google and apparently it's an on-going problem. I live high up in my building a block away from this place and my apartment windows are shaking the music is so loud. I've made multiple noise complaints and every time I ask what's going on, the officers say "they turn down the music, wait for us to leave, and then turn it back up." Completely disrespectful to the residential buildings around them. This is like the 2nd or 3rd time I've been forced to go to bed past 1.30 AM because of Pure Space. I get that it's an event space and whatever but maybe soundproof your building better so this doesn't happen? Like what is even wrong with management.

This review is strictly on the De Soto venue itself. It was a lovely space. Large enough for our 100 guests plus a 4-person gypsy jazz band and a dancing area. The terrace has a wood deck. There are trellis' and plants in big pots. White chairs and sunbrellas are available for use. The terrace was looking good already and then was transformed into a magical place by my florist, Adria Sparhawk of Lavish. The rooftop is about 4 floors up. It has a nice view of trees in the north park blocks as well as some of downtown Portland. Looking to the west, you have to look over AC equipment on the roof in order to see the trees. Adria came up with a great solution to that eyesore - she made gates out of willow and decorated them with vines and ribbon and placed these along the western railing. Problem solved! We had temps in the 90s. The roof was very hot with the sun beating down until it set over the west hills around 7 pm. After that, the temperature was perfect. If it is going to be a hot day, I recommend renting tents to add shade. We rented one 20x20 foot tent to cover the eldest and youngest. It looked fine and we could have used an additional one. There is no indoor space. Keep that in mind. The bathrooms are on the bottom floor so your guests will be up and down the elevator but that didn't seem to be a problem for anyone. The roof is wheelchair accessible. The entrance to the rooftop is on a pleasant block that has nice character. I'm taking a star off because of the AC eyesore, lack of indoor space and location of the bathrooms. Of all the rooftops and outdoor spaces I explored in Portland proper, the De Soto was the only one that met all my requirements. Still, I give 5 stars only if it's perfect!

It's possible that this was a one off, but it took away from the experience a bit for me. Parking is an ongoing challenge since it's NW Portland and very few businesses have their own dedicated lot. The drink menu was appealing and their liquor options were impressive. I definitely plan to try again and see if my food experience is a bit more elevated on a second stop.
